My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 104: Getting Married After Graduation
CHAPTER 104: CHAPTER 104: GETTING MARRIED AFTER GRADUATION
Lynn Kendall saw Shannon Quinn didn’t get her meaning, so she said directly, "Shannon, I noticed you haven’t been here more than twice in over a month. I’m just borrowing your office for a while."
"It’s not that I’m being stingy, as you can see, I have too many things here..."
Before Shannon Quinn could finish her sentence, Lynn Kendall hurriedly said, "Don’t worry, I didn’t say you should move your things out. Just clear some space on your desk for me. I’ll use it only during work hours."
"I have a cleanliness obsession."
"I won’t touch your things. Besides, you’re not here often enough, and it easily collects dust. I can help clean up here every day."
Shannon Quinn just smiled without saying anything; no matter what, she wouldn’t budge on this.
Sometimes when you concede one step, others might take a mile.
She suspected that Lynn Kendall might not really want a particular work environment but rather due to jealousy and vanity couldn’t stand others having better, seeking equal treatment.
"How about I move my desk here and we share an office? We sisters can discuss things together."
Shannon Quinn smiled and said, "It’s really not possible. If you truly want a private room, you should go talk to Mr. Lockwood. Let him find a place for you or separate your area. I believe there’s always a better solution."
"Oh well, I thought you wouldn’t mind such a small thing, Shannon."
Shannon Quinn smiled but said nothing, unable to comprehend people like Lynn Kendall, who seem to expect others to agree to all their requests.
Everyone is getting paid to work, why should anyone have to cater to her every demand?
When working for someone else, you adapt to the environment, not the other way around, talking about being good sisters, really treating herself like a family member.
"Oh, Shannon."
Shannon Quinn looked up at her, wondering what other tricks she had up her sleeve.
Lynn Kendall took a look at Shannon Quinn, pursing her lips as if hesitant to speak. "I heard a bit about your situation from Mona."
Shannon Quinn raised an eyebrow, "Oh?"
"Actually, I’m not really sure about the truth in all this. Mona sometimes likes to exaggerate. I feel maybe there’s some misunderstanding between you two; she seems quite biased against you."
Shannon Quinn’s expression didn’t change, knowing full well what kind of person Claire Yardley was, and aware that Lynn Kendall was not a good person either.
Two-faced, who knows how Lynn Kendall cursed her when chatting with Claire Yardley, and now coming to talk here, is she saying she’s caught Shannon Quinn in a weak spot and wants her to obediently give up the office?
"But I’m really curious, did you... really get married?"
"Didn’t Claire Yardley already tell you?"
"Yes, but I’m skeptical, saying you married into the Rhodes Family to that disabled second son, and that... you’re pregnant now. There’s quite a few rumors circling about you, I’ve heard multiple versions."
Lynn Kendall is clever in a way, exposing your weakness while maintaining an innocent, kind, ignorant persona. It’s hard to have a falling out with her.
"Mona also said you... stole her boyfriend? Of course, that’s just Mona’s side of the story; I believe you’re not that kind of person."
Shannon Quinn just kept smiling, without explaining anything, silently regretting introducing Lynn Kendall to the company; what was she thinking?
If she had known earlier about her acquaintance with Claire Yardley, she wouldn’t have brought her into the studio.
Luckily, Aidan Lockwood came over to call her, telling her to get ready to go to school, or else Lynn Kendall might still want to chat.
It’s cloudy, the autumn wind had become a bit chilly, and the lane cleared in the morning had scattered fallen leaves.
Shannon Quinn wore a rather loose trench coat, even if her belly got bigger it could still be easily concealed.
Before class, Shannon Quinn ran into Sheila Yardley and her boyfriend at the bottom of the teaching building.
Her boyfriend wasn’t a student at the school, named Ryder Griffin, older than her by five or six years, having his own architectural design studio, considered a successful person.
The key is he treats Sheila Yardley very well, originally at the business’s early stage in need of money, her boyfriend already took out over 100,000 for her mom’s medical expenses.
Their relationship is very good, every time Sheila Yardley mentions him she’s smiling broadly, seems like Ryder Griffin was dropping Sheila Yardley off at school.
The two stood by the roadside whispering a few words, Ryder Griffin gently kissed Sheila Yardley’s forehead, then drove away.
"Elaine!" Shannon Quinn stepped forward and called out to her.
Sheila Yardley turned around, immediately smiling happily, "TA Quinn? How come you’re here alone today? Where’s Professor Lockwood?"
"He said he had something to handle, drove to Zone C. Was that your boyfriend just now?"
"Yes." Sheila Yardley smiled shyly and nodded.
"Pretty handsome."
Sheila Yardley turned to glance in the direction Ryder Griffin’s car left, lowered her eyes and smiled gently, "I sometimes feel I’m really lucky to have met him."
"As they say, true love in adversity, your mother’s situation shows he’s someone worth relying on."
"Yes, he says we’ll get married after I graduate from college."
Shannon Quinn envied such love; she knew she had no hope for that in this lifetime, destined for a chaotic existence.
"Are you adjusting well at the studio lately? Is Lynn Kendall giving you any trouble?"
At the mention of this, the saying ’misery loves company’ rang true for Sheila Yardley, transforming what was meant to be a fortunate job into a frustration. She sighed saying, "No trouble, but she hasn’t taught me anything either."
Shannon Quinn raised the folder in her hand, "Look, she wanted me to give this to you. I’ve looked at it, it’s just number classification. Do I need to learn this? She’s just passing things off she doesn’t want to do."
"Yes, but she said when she was following her mentor, she learned starting from these things, saying patience is required in this business; she gave me these tasks to cultivate my patience."
Shannon Quinn laughed mockingly, "Things coming out of her mouth sound better than singing. When she stabs you, she even wants to ask if the candy she’s giving you is sweet."
"Ah, right now the salary Professor Lockwood gives is better than me doing part-time jobs outside. Even though I learn nothing, it’s better than working outside." Sheila Yardley said, suddenly recalled something, "Oh, she mentioned a social event tomorrow night and asked me to accompany her."
"Social event?"
"Yes, seems like it’s with an overseas client, she said she’d teach me how to negotiate deals."
"Company deals are handled by the company, where do designers go to negotiate? What game is she playing again?"
