My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 112: Has a Crush on Me
CHAPTER 112: CHAPTER 112: HAS A CRUSH ON ME
Sheila Yardley smiled through her tears, feeling very fortunate.
Others might think she had suffered a lot, but she had always been protected by Julian Yardley, and later she met Ryder Griffin, which made her feel that she was actually a very lucky woman.
"It was last year when a former friend of my brother, who came back from abroad, contacted him. Knowing he didn’t continue his work in computing, which was a pity, the friend invited him to join the company. I don’t know if the salary is as high as before, but I think this is a profession he’s interested in, and I’m quite happy for him."
"Yes, everything will get better gradually."
"I really especially want to thank you, Shannon. You’re really a wonderful person."
Shannon Quinn smiled and said, "If you still need money, just tell me. I still have a hundred thousand or so."
"Actually, we’ve almost gathered enough for the surgery costs. It’s just that there isn’t a suitable kidney available yet, and we don’t know what the situation will be afterward. We’ve heard the cost of anti-rejection drugs is quite high. The doctor advised us to prepare four hundred thousand. The dialysis over the past two or three years also cost quite a bit. We’re trying to save money, but if we really need it, we might have to borrow from you."
Shannon Quinn honestly hopes Catherine Yardley gets better, regardless of any wrongs she may have done in the past. Now her children are tirelessly striving for her recovery, and she wants to see a happy ending for all.
"Just let me know when you need it. I also wish your mom a speedy recovery. My friend’s car is about to arrive downstairs, so I have to go."
"Okay, thank you on behalf of my mom, Shannon."
"It’s nothing."
"But now, the more I look, the more I feel like you really looked a lot like my mom when she was young."
Shannon Quinn just smiled, waved her hand, and jogged into the elevator that had just stopped on this floor.
Sheila Yardley returned to the ward. As soon as she reached the door, Julian Yardley grabbed her and brought her outside the ward, watching the direction Shannon Quinn had left, and asked Sheila Yardley, "What exactly is the relationship between you and that woman? Is she after something from our family?"
Sheila Yardley rolled her eyes, "What is there to be after from our family? She’s genuinely helping us, and you still speculate about her like this. You’re being petty!"
Julian Yardley teased, "After what? After this outstanding and handsome brother of yours. Tell me honestly, does she have a crush on me?"
Sheila Yardley rolled her eyes even harder, "Please, have you gone overboard with the narcissism? A kid like you doesn’t even catch her eye."
"Tch, don’t older women just like to be with youngsters? But if she really takes an interest in me, you can honestly tell me. Even though she’s older, she still looks okay, doesn’t look old. If she’s really willing to pay to save our mom, I can offer myself. I wouldn’t mind sacrificing a little, as long as you and mom are happy."
"You’re really good at flattering yourself! Do you go to work every day or watch romance dramas? It’s a shame you’re not a screenwriter with your made-up stories!"
"What do you mean made-up stories? She’s a stranger, spends so much money to save our mom for no reason. This is justified! I guarantee she either has a crush on me or on you!"
Sheila Yardley didn’t want to argue with him about this anymore. Julian Yardley continued, "Older women know how to play, but I can’t let her ruin you. As your brother, I should protect you. Whatever issue there is, let her come at me, and I’ll satisfy her!"
Sheila Yardley frowned, pressing his shoulder, stood on tiptoe and corrected him, "You’re the brother?! Smelly little brat, you really are ugly but think you’re quite something. Shannon is a proper person. What dirty thoughts are you thinking about?! Don’t say these things in the future. If Shannon hears them, imagine how upset she’d be?!"
"Foolish! Sentimentality of women! When you’ve been deceived, you’ll see that everything your brother says is the truth! Not listening to advice from the wiser means you’ll suffer!"
Sheila Yardley didn’t bother correcting him anymore. To continue arguing with him, she felt like she’d roll her eyes so much they’d never come back.
Shannon Quinn and Erin Bishop returned home, and in front of others, she carefully kept her internal emotions in check. These days, she never mentioned the anonymous letters to Erin Bishop.
Just like usual, she had meals with Erin Bishop and chatted, gossiping and commenting on TV together.
These times made Shannon Quinn feel quite relaxed, allowing her to temporarily forget her troubling worries.
But at night, when she went back to her room to sleep, Shannon Quinn couldn’t control her mind.
Picking up her phone and putting it down, then picking it up again, she looked at the unanswered message over and over.
Guessing whether he saw it and didn’t want to reply, thinking it didn’t matter if the child was kept or not; or perhaps he hadn’t seen the message at all?
Because before, she had sent a message to him on this number, and there was no response then either.
It seemed that he could only unilaterally inform her of certain things, as if he couldn’t see her replies.
Countless guesses tangled Shannon Quinn’s heart, making her toss and turn, unable to sleep.
She didn’t know what time she fell asleep; she only knew it was pretty late into the night.
So the short message alert tone on her phone at a little past six the next morning didn’t wake her.
Landon Sutton only got his phone this morning and saw the message she had sent, feeling a prick when he saw her words, wondering if it was too late, if she had already aborted the child.
Her words made him feel quite bad, leaving her to bear these things alone.
Previously, when he said he was willing to keep the child, she was so happy, but now she suddenly wants to abort the child. What had she gone through to make a mother have such a thought?
Judging by when the message was sent, it had been troubling her, keeping her from a good night’s sleep.
The most important thing is that she sent the message to him, which means she hasn’t made up her mind and wanted to consult him, yet he hadn’t responded for so many days. Perhaps she lost heart and went to the hospital to terminate the pregnancy?
But seeing that besides her message, there was no message from Silas Kerr about her aborting the child, it indicated that she was still waiting for his response.
When Shannon Quinn woke up, Erin Bishop had already left for work.
She lay in bed not knowing what time it was, just curling up with only half her head out of the covers, staring blankly out the window, not clear what she was thinking.
This lasted about ten minutes before she got up, without checking her phone immediately like she had done the past few days to see if that man had replied to her message.
After waiting for so many days, the anticipation had been largely overshadowed by disappointment.
