CHAPTER 12: CHAPTER 12: DIAMOND FRESH MEAT

Shannon Quinn always thought businessmen were dull, boring bookworms. If Landon Sutton weren’t wearing a suit and exuding an unusual charm, she’d believe he was a street punk whistling at girls.

The restaurant waiter brought over two steaks. Shannon Quinn rarely ate Western food and seemed to struggle a bit with cutting the steak.

Landon Sutton always maintained a gentlemanly aura, cutting his steak while saying, "You don’t even wear a wedding ring; isn’t it because you want to attract men?"

Shannon glanced at her empty ring finger, not offering any explanation. Instead, she replied, "Yeah, so if you’d like to be one of my many men, I don’t mind."

"Alright, you said it yourself. I have the patience to wait for you to remarry."

Shannon rolled her eyes, feeling there’s no way to continue the conversation, just wanting to finish quickly and leave.

As she was cutting the meat on her plate with her knife and fork, his hand suddenly reached over and took away her plate.

Frowning, Shannon was about to ask what was wrong with him when he handed over a plate with steak cut into small squares.

Before she could even muster any sense of gratitude, she heard Landon Sutton say, "Vincent Rhodes rarely takes you out to eat, does he? You look unfamiliar with these movements."

"Mind your own business!"

Initially thinking about swapping the plates back, she saw him eating the steak she had already taken a few bites of, showing no sign of distaste.

Even though it was just cutlery touching, Shannon still felt a bit of intimacy.

Honestly, she rarely went out to eat with guys, let alone having a man cut her steak.

He cut it very neatly, just the right size to put in the mouth in one go.

She always felt she got married before experiencing love, and after marriage, she lost the qualification for romance.

After the meal, Landon Sutton took her back to the studio. Before leaving, he mentioned he had something to do in the afternoon.

Shannon didn’t pay him any mind; after he returned her umbrella, he drove away.

"Shannon, developing so fast? Went out for a meal with Landon Sutton? What did you chat about? Any sparks?"

Shannon rolled her eyes: "Didn’t chat."

"Oh come on, tell us."

"The boss said the order from Westerland Coronet Corp. needs to be expedited, with a finished product in half a month."

"What? That’s a joke, right? How’s half a month even possible?"

"Knowing it’s impossible and still have time to gossip here?"

The rain had just stopped in the afternoon. As soon as Landon Sutton returned to the company, Ronan Rhodes started complaining: "Master Nate, something’s off about you this time. How come it feels like you’re slacking off? Where were you all morning?"

"Everything falls apart if I’m not here for one morning?"

"Not exactly, just found it strange you weren’t working when you had the time."

"I rarely take a vacation; do I have to stay in the company?"

Ronan grinned obsequiously and said, "That’s not what I meant. You should spend some time courting ladies, or else you’ll end up an old bachelor."

Landon Sutton shot a stern glance, and Ronan instantly changed his tune: "Pah, pah, pah! Look at my silly mouth. With Master Nate’s looks and wealth, even single, you’d still be a diamond eligible bachelor."

"If you were half as serious as your brother, I’d have much less to worry about." Landon Sutton walked into the office, sat at his desk, and flipped open the files on the desk.

Ronan stood by the desk and said, "My brother’s just a blockhead, no fun at all. Oh right, Master Nate, there’s a really thorny issue. I hope you can handle it; it’s been driving me nuts."

"Speak."

"Do you remember Claire Yardley?"

Landon Sutton didn’t even lift his head and said directly, "Don’t know her."

"She’s the eldest daughter of The Yardleys, the woman who was after you a few years ago, remember now?"
