My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 150: Entrusting His Life to You
CHAPTER 150: CHAPTER 150: ENTRUSTING HIS LIFE TO YOU
The man rubbed his frozen stiff hands and looked at Shannon Quinn, saying, "Jett Quinn, huh."
Shannon Quinn suddenly realized, with so much going on lately, she had forgotten about this matter.
"Alright, I’ve finished my business here, I’ll be off then, I’m freezing to death."
Shannon Quinn looked down and opened the note in her hand, it was the address of the detention center.
After Jett Quinn was arrested, other than the two elders from the Quinn Family coming to her, Shannon Quinn didn’t get involved in this matter. She had always felt that Jett Quinn deserved it, and keeping him inside not only reduced her troubles but also relieved society of a lot of problems.
She hoped that after getting out, he’d remember a lesson and mature a bit.
Shannon Quinn hailed a cab by the roadside and headed to the detention center.
Whether it was because someone in the bureau recognized her, the procedure wasn’t too complicated, and she managed to arrange a meeting with Jett Quinn pretty smoothly.
Separated by a pane of glass, she saw Jett Quinn with a buzz cut, looking more neat, slightly thinner, but still emanating a roguish vibe.
"Finally willing to come, huh?"
Shannon Quinn held the phone but didn’t speak.
Jett Quinn cursed, "Heartless creature."
After a pause, he lazily said, "I at least raised you, and you got other men to deal with me, you’ve really got some skills, let’s see how I deal with you once I get out."
Although his words were fierce, his careless demeanor made it seem like he was just joking.
Of course, Shannon Quinn felt no sympathy for him, only saying, "You might end up right back here the moment you get out."
"No problem, I’ll get out and kill that man, and then I’ll get a death sentence, you’d surely be happier, right?"
Shannon Quinn wasn’t sure how much truth was hidden in his seemingly joking words, but she knew Jett Quinn could do anything when he went crazy.
"Whatever you do is none of my business, if you want to mess around all your life no one can stop you, but you should think about your parents."
"Stop preaching to me, what are you to me anyway?"
Shannon Quinn chuckled mockingly, hung up the phone, but Jett Quinn immediately pointed at her and said viciously, "You dare hang up on me!"
Though she couldn’t hear his voice clearly through the glass, she could imagine his tone.
Shannon Quinn expressionlessly put the receiver back to her ear.
Only then did Jett Quinn sit back on the bench, gave her a sideways glance, and said, "Wish me a Happy New Year."
Shannon Quinn didn’t respond.
Jett Quinn got annoyed and said, "Don’t think just because I can’t get to you now that I can’t handle you, I still have a lot of men outside, one word from me and you won’t have peace."
"Hmm, you can try, maybe they can come in and keep you company."
"Now you’re even daring to threaten me?" Jett Quinn was infuriated but also realized that in this situation, everyone knew Shannon Quinn had the Rhodes Family backing her, and not many of his men dared to trouble her.
Seeing Shannon Quinn not being afraid of him at all, Jett Quinn was fuming, yet helpless against her, he just stared at her stomach, smirking coldly, "Still keeping that bastard in your belly?"
"Your nasty words are making me unhappy, I can ask Vincent Rhodes to add another year or two to your sentence, shouldn’t be hard."
Blatant threat, Jett Quinn menacingly said, "Alright Shannon Quinn, you’ve got guts! Just wait till I’m out to deal with you!"
After he spoke, he hung up the phone first and stormed off in a huff.
Shannon Quinn didn’t feel much emotion, maybe she just wanted to see how Jett Quinn was faring here.
Not a complete change, at least now mentioning the Rhodes Family, he would be a little apprehensive.
After leaving the detention center, Shannon Quinn went to the supermarket to buy some groceries and daily items. She hadn’t left the house today, and there was nothing much to eat at home anymore.
On her way home, she received a call from Simon Rhodes, saying he was at her door and knocked but got no response, so he called to check.
Shannon Quinn had planned to walk back slowly, but she had no choice but to hail a cab by the side of the road.
Shannon had not told anyone about Vincent Rhodes’s confession of his identity, including Simon Rhodes, and wasn’t sure if Vincent had told him either.
"Big brother, sorry to keep you waiting, I just went out to buy some things."
Simon Rhodes smiled and shook his head, saying, "It’s my fault for not contacting you in advance. The New Year’s goods were prepared at home, and since I was passing by, I thought I’d deliver them to you."
Shannon Quinn opened the door and stepped aside to let Simon Rhodes enter, placing the items he held by the door.
It was clear that Simon Rhodes had not merely come by to deliver things since he usually only stood at the door for a while and left after giving her the stuff. Today, he took the initiative to come inside, placing the items on the coffee table and sitting down on the sofa.
Shannon Quinn turned on the heating of the air conditioner, poured a glass of water, and handed it over, apologetically explaining, "Just finished work, haven’t had time to clean up at home, it’s a bit messy."
Simon Rhodes didn’t mind and just asked her, "...Has Vincent looked for you during this time?"
Shannon Quinn hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "Yes."
"What did he say?"
She thought about it, feeling that Simon Rhodes was quite a reliable big brother, telling him might help her get some advice, and Vincent might have already told him anyway.
"He confessed, about his identity, that he and Landon Sutton are the same person, he’s been deceiving me all along."
Simon Rhodes sighed lightly and took out a few photos from his coat pocket, saying, "He did deceive you, but it was unavoidable, he didn’t want to hurt you."
Shannon Quinn was about to retort when Simon Rhodes handed the photos over to her, "Take a look at this."
She reached out suspiciously to take the photos, there were about five or six of them, showing Vincent Rhodes at different times, from when he was fifteen or sixteen to more recently. However, what was common in these photos was that he was wearing a military uniform in all of them, three of which were ID photos.
Looking at the photos from his youth, Shannon Quinn felt they looked a bit familiar, yet she couldn’t say where she had seen them before. Maybe it was just because they bore some resemblance to the current Landon Sutton, which is why she felt that way.
"There aren’t many photos from when he was a soldier, for the mission and tasks of the family, he has to carry burdens that ordinary people couldn’t bear, you may not understand him now. Some things were kept from you because they involved confidentiality, so we have never told you, some things he will take to his grave, unable to share with anyone, not even me or Grandpa, and certainly not you."
Shannon Quinn listened in a daze. She had heard about some family mission business related to the Rhodes Family but didn’t expect Vincent Rhodes to be the main person responsible for it.
"Do you know what it means when he confesses his identity to you?"
Shannon Quinn shook her head dully.
"It means he’s handing his life over to you."
Shannon Quinn trembled slightly, lowering her head, lost in thought.
Simon Rhodes continued, "Don’t mention this to anyone, Grandpa doesn’t know yet; it was Vincent’s own decision. If it’s discovered, he will be punished."
