CHAPTER 217: CHAPTER 217: I’LL WIN YOU BACK TOO

"It’s been so many days, and I haven’t seen you send flowers to my mom or ask her out to play. You’re not very proactive; my mom might be snatched by someone else!"

Landon Sutton merely smiled without saying a word, thinking that this little guy knows quite a bit, huh.

"What are you laughing at? Do you like my mom or not?"

Landon Sutton smiled, but answered very seriously, "I do."

"Hmph, my mom is quite popular. She’s beautiful, has a great figure, and is good at making money. There are plenty of uncles chasing her." After Leo said this, he glanced at Landon Sutton and deliberately grumbled for him to hear, "I wonder if my dad’s dumb, not wanting me and my mom."

Landon Sutton’s smile froze; he opened his mouth but didn’t know how to explain to the child.

But he indeed didn’t have much patience left to wait. Regardless of her reaction upon seeing him, he was already mentally prepared.

The cruise ship started right on time after the boarding time passed.

Shannon Quinn always thought she knew enough people in the design circle, but today she realized how small her circle was, with people from various countries and places coming, creating a lively atmosphere.

There were also two colleagues who had previously expressed their feelings to Shannon Quinn, but thankfully it had been quite some time since then; when they met, they could barely exchange greetings without it being too awkward.

While Shannon Quinn was chatting, Leo excitedly ran over, pulling her hand and saying, "Mom, the ship has started. Let’s go outside and play, okay?"

"It’s cold outside; you can just look through the window."

But Leo was adamant, tugging on her arm, "No, there’s still the sun outside now, it’s not cold!"

Liam Sterling then stood up and said, "Let’s go, Uncle will take you outside."

Leo hurriedly refused, "No, Uncle, I want Mom to go with me."

Shannon Quinn thought that it was her child anyway, and she couldn’t always trouble Liam, especially since he had a lot of people to entertain today.

Unable to refuse Leo and giving in, she picked up her shawl, stood up, and followed Leo outside the cabin.

Due to the cold weather, not many people were outside. As Shannon Quinn followed Leo, she walked anxiously and said, "Are you cold? It’s such a windy day, and you insist on coming out."

"Don’t talk, just follow me."

Walking through the corridor, she saw a man in a suit standing by the railing at the edge of the deck.

The man was facing away, making his face unseen, just a familiar back view, and Shannon Quinn felt he looked familiar.

She was still thinking to herself why lately everyone seemed to look like him.

And at this moment, Leo suddenly shouted toward that direction, "Uncle!"

There was only that man on the deck, leaving Shannon Quinn wondering who the uncle Leo knew might be. The next second, the man turned around, and upon seeing his appearance, Shannon Quinn was so shocked she couldn’t move.

Seeing Shannon Quinn not moving, Leo turned back to look at her, pulling her hand and urging her forward, "Mom, hurry up!"

Shannon Quinn’s eyes trembled, as countless questions flooded her mind, prompting her to step forward again and walk toward the man.

Leo brought Shannon Quinn before Landon Sutton, then extended his small hand to Landon Sutton and said, "I brought her here, now pay up."

Landon Sutton shifted his gaze away from Shannon Quinn’s face, lowered his head, and took a wallet out of his coat pocket, taking out five hundred bucks in cash to hand to Leo.

At this moment, Shannon Quinn couldn’t care less about scolding Leo, looking at these two men, big and small, each one of them making her angry.

"You go inside and find Mr. Hughes, don’t run around." Her tone was somewhat stern, and Leo, holding the money, responded with a considerate "oh," afraid Shannon Quinn would take his money, turning around and running back.

The sea surface at five o’clock was bathed in golden sunlight from the setting sun.

This side wasn’t the windward side, so it wasn’t extremely cold.

The two stood face to face, their eyes meeting, neither saying a word.

Seeing him indeed alive and standing in front of her at this moment, only then did Shannon Quinn realize she had been deceived.

Even more unexpectedly, she realized she couldn’t trust Simon Rhodes’s words.

She took a deep breath, reached out to tug at the shawl on her shoulder, looked up at Vincent Rhodes, and said somewhat indignantly, "Do you think this is fun? Is fooling me amusing?"

Landon Sutton looked at her, his eyes showing some guilt but more joy. With a faint smile, he softly asked her, "Would you prefer I be dead or alive?"

The more Shannon Quinn thought about it, the angrier she became, lowering her eyes to the sea and coldly saying, "Whether you’re dead or alive, it’s none of my business."

"You really didn’t cry?"

"No."

Landon Sutton continued to smile, staring at her, seemingly trying to find traces of her lying.

Seeing her irritated demeanor, Landon Sutton teased her, "You must often think of me, right? After all, your son looks so much like me."

She mocked with a smile, even using formal language, "You think too much."

"Oh? Then why are you still alone after so long?"

"That’s none of your business."

Landon Sutton guessed her thoughts with a determined tone, "Because you still remembered when I told you my discharge date, you kept waiting for me all this time."

Shannon Quinn’s laughter became even more indulgent, trying to use this approach to mask reasons she herself hadn’t figured out.

"Mr. Sutton, your imagination is really vivid." Shannon Quinn paused before continuing, "No matter what your purpose for setting up this scene upon returning is, I hope you won’t have any further interaction or contact with Leo."

"Are you worried I’m here to take the child?"

"Is there anything Mr. Sutton wouldn’t do?"

"To be honest, I am indeed here to take the child." He deliberately paused before saying, "And perhaps take you back with me as well."

Seeing Shannon Quinn’s body slightly trembling, Landon Sutton took off his coat, and despite her retreat, insistently wrapped it around her shoulders, speaking in a low, serious tone, "I’ve been back for over a fortnight now, and I’ve been here for a week already. From the first day I arrived, I wanted to come find you, and wanted to sincerely say ’Shannon, I’m back,’ but I was afraid you’d ask me not to disturb you. I was even more scared that someone else might already be by your side."

Shannon Quinn lowered her eyes and said nothing, the coat on her shoulder still carried the warmth from him, a comfort she couldn’t ignore at this moment.

She admitted that upon seeing him a moment ago, she felt relieved, but later realizing he was deceiving her again made her dissatisfied.

"Miss Quinn, let’s get to know each other again."

Shannon Quinn pursed her lips, reached out to remove the coat from her shoulders, and handed it back to him, saying, "Stop doing these futile things, I won’t go back."

Landon Sutton reached out to take the coat back, and said, "Before, I wasn’t able to provide you the life you wanted, so I agreed to the divorce. At that time, I made a private decision: if after my discharge you got married, I would never come to disturb you again. But if you were still alone, I would definitely strive to win back the one I love."
