CHAPTER 221: CHAPTER 221: SHE DOESN’T LIKE ME

The two of them found a spot to sit in the lounge downstairs. Sylvie Pierce ordered two glasses of champagne and then said, "I only came back to the country after my brother retired. He was afraid I’d marry someone abroad and insisted I come back."

Landon Sutton just smiled politely, not initiating any conversation.

Sylvie Pierce appeared to be a well-educated, elegant, and gentle young lady from a distinguished family.

"What are your plans after retiring?" she asked casually, as if chatting with a close friend, which wouldn’t make anyone feel offended.

Landon Sutton smiled faintly, "Plans? Whatever my grandpa arranges is fine by me."

"You listen to your grandpa so well? What about your personal feelings? Does he also decide for that?"

"He would like to, though."

Sylvie Pierce chuckled, complaining, "My grandpa is the same. Ever since I graduated from college, he’s been nagging me, and now that I’m back, he goes on and on at me every day."

Landon Sutton just kept smiling politely. Sylvie Pierce then said, "You should come over for a meal sometime. My brother and grandpa often mention you."

"Sure, I’ll definitely visit Grandpa Pierce when I have the time."

"Oh, my grandpa is always criticizing my brother. My brother doesn’t have the business sense you do. He plans to open a gym, and my grandpa wants me to manage the company. He also tells me to marry a man with business acumen like you; otherwise, there would be no one to inherit the family business."

Landon Sutton wasn’t sure if Sylvie Pierce was hinting at something. He pretended not to understand, smiling lightly, "I suppose there are plenty of people lining up to marry you."

"Oh, marriage isn’t child’s play. Finding the right person isn’t easy." Sylvie Pierce took a sip from her wine glass, looking at Landon Sutton inquisitively. "I heard from my brother that you were once married but then divorced. What happened?"

Landon Sutton dodged the question, saying, "Your brother really tells you everything."

Sylvie Pierce chuckled softly, "I don’t need him to tell me; people talk about you everywhere. I’m curious to know what kind of woman captured your heart."

Shannon Quinn’s face flashed subconsciously in Landon Sutton’s mind, and even his smile softened.

"Just an ordinary woman," he answered.

"How ordinary could a woman who married you be? Your expression changes when you talk about her."

"Does it?"

"You must have really liked her. But why did you get divorced later?"

Landon Sutton smirked self-deprecatingly, "She didn’t like me."

Sylvie Pierce showed a surprised expression, "There’s actually a woman who doesn’t like you?"

...

Before six o’clock, Leo woke up, subsequently waking Shannon Quinn.

He complained of hunger and thirst, so Shannon Quinn took him downstairs to find something to eat.

They happened to see Landon Sutton and Sylvie Pierce sitting and chatting together. Landon Sutton saw her too but didn’t avoid her, smiling slightly as he continued his conversation with Sylvie Pierce.

Shannon Quinn quickly averted her gaze, pretending not to notice, and looked down to ask Leo what he wanted to eat.

In her heart, she thought, some people may say they like you a lot, yet they can’t bear loneliness or resist temptation.

However, whoever he wants to be with is his freedom, and she can’t interfere, nor does she have a reason to complain.

When the cruise returned in the morning, Shannon Quinn led Leo off the ship along with Liam Sterling and Sheila Yardley.

Landon Sutton followed at a reasonable distance behind them. Sylvie Pierce jogged over, walking alongside him, and asked, "Vincent, you..."

"For now, just call me Landon Sutton," he interrupted her calmly.

Sylvie Pierce realized her mistake and smiled apologetically, "Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention. When do you plan to return?"

"In a few days."

"That’s perfect. I also plan to stay here for a couple of days. Let’s return together when it’s time."

"I haven’t decided yet."

"It’s no problem. I don’t have plans for the next few days, so when you decide to go back, just give me a call."

Landon Sutton simply said, "We’ll see then."

He noticed Shannon Quinn glance back, as if inadvertently. Her eyes lingered on him for a moment, then she glanced at Sylvie Pierce, turning to talk to Sheila Yardley.

Landon Sutton’s mouth curled up unconsciously, thinking she actually cared that there were other women around him, didn’t she?

"What are you smiling about? Did you see someone you know?" Sylvie Pierce was puzzled by his random smile.

Landon Sutton continued looking ahead, responding lightly, "Nothing."

"Let’s have lunch together."

Landon Sutton paused and then said, "Alright, I’ll send you the address later."

Seeing that Landon Sutton didn’t refuse, Sylvie Pierce nodded happily and headed towards her parked car, "Okay, I’ll head back to the hotel for a shower. Let’s talk later."

He chose a children’s restaurant. Earlier, when preparing to disembark, he overheard Leo telling Shannon Quinn that he wanted to eat there.

Sylvie Pierce wore a mauve long dress, probably not expecting Landon Sutton to invite her to a children’s restaurant, so she dressed more formally.

"Are there others coming?" Sylvie Pierce asked as she sat down.

Landon Sutton shook his head, still gentlemanly handing her the menu.

While flipping through the menu, Sylvie Pierce laughed and said, "Why meet at a children’s restaurant? I thought there would be kids joining."

He casually made an excuse, "I heard the food here is good."

"Oh, is it? It’s my first time here."

Landon Sutton’s attention was focused on the restaurant entrance, occasionally checking his watch.

A few minutes past twelve, the person he was waiting for finally arrived.

Wearing a beige coat and scarf, Shannon Quinn was wrapped up warmly, having shed her evening gown.

It was just her and Leo. Leo opened the door like a little gentleman, holding it until Shannon Quinn entered, then gently closed it.

Evidently, the boy was a regular here. He dragged Shannon Quinn to the cabinet to get some dessert, and when they looked for a seat, they spotted Landon Sutton sitting by the window.

"Uncle Sutton?" Leo was the first to notice him, waving over, and then Shannon Quinn noticed Landon Sutton too.

Seeing him also meant seeing the girl opposite Landon Sutton. Although dressed differently, Shannon Quinn immediately recognized her as the girl chatting with Landon Sutton on the ship this morning.

Things seemed to progress quickly; they were already meeting for a meal together—a nicely timed encounter indeed.

Shannon Quinn muttered internally, not showing any expression on her face or saying hello.

But Leo, on the other hand, ran over to him. Landon Sutton took the opportunity to lift Leo onto the couch, seating him beside him.

"What a cute little boy," Sylvie Pierce praised Leo with a smile and asked Landon Sutton, "Is he a relative?"

Before Landon Sutton could reply, Sylvie Pierce noticed Shannon Quinn. Recognizing her, she was slightly surprised and said, "Miss Quinn? Your child?"
