CHAPTER 232: CHAPTER 232: YOU’RE REALLY JEALOUS

Upon hearing his words, Shannon Quinn paused for a moment and then asked him, "Did you come back to find me because of the child?"

"It’s somewhat related to the child, but it’s not the whole reason." Landon Sutton took a deep breath, turned his head to look at her and said, "Do you know what I’ve been most afraid of these years?"

Shannon Quinn put down the remote control in her hand and turned her head to look at him, puzzled.

"I’m afraid of two things: one, I’m afraid I can’t come back; two, I’m afraid I’ll come back and you’ll be with someone else. Neither of these things has happened, so I still want to fight for myself and for the child."

Shannon Quinn turned her head back, lowered her gaze as if contemplating something.

The thing she feared most over the years was also that he wouldn’t come back, but she never considered whether they’d still be together if he did return.

She used to think that neither of them should disrupt the other’s existing life.

But recently, with Sylvie Pierce’s appearance and after hearing the things Catherine Yardley said yesterday, Shannon Quinn slowly began to understand what she wanted.

"After going back, I will explain everything clearly. In the future, you’ll rightfully be the Rhodes Family’s Young Madam, and no one will dare spread gossip. The things you worry about, I can solve them now."

"Leo has grown so big already. Now that we have this opportunity, shouldn’t we give the child a complete family?"

Listening to Landon Sutton persuading her to go back, Shannon Quinn actually made up her mind last night.

Now, Landon Sutton proactively coming to her to talk about these things essentially gives her an excuse to accept.

"It’s not impossible to go back with you..."

Landon Sutton’s eyes brightened slightly, doubting if he heard wrong; then he looked at her seriously, wanting to hear what conditions she wanted to propose.

Shannon Quinn pouted, "I don’t want to compromise on a marriage just for the child. If after you join, it’s not happier for Leo than when I’m alone, I won’t go back with you."

"Okay, let’s spend some time together first, and then you can decide whether to go back with me."

"Mm, and don’t say I didn’t give you a chance. I’m watching your performance."

Landon Sutton smiled. He really didn’t expect her to accept him so quickly.

He knows that, although Shannon Quinn’s words don’t fully agree yet, her willingness to say such things shows she’s already ready to accept him, thus giving him this chance.

He also wants to truly pursue her once, considering they hadn’t properly been together much even though they were married before; he owes her, and he’ll repay it all.

"These years raising the child alone must have been hard, right?"

Shannon Quinn didn’t complain but murmured, "Whether it’s hard or not, it’s in the past now."

Landon Sutton opened his mouth, wanting to ask her to give him another child so this time he can fully fulfill a father’s responsibility from start to finish, but realizing he’s still on probation, mentioning it seemed too soon.

"Are you close with Sheryl?"

Shannon Quinn suddenly asked about Sylvie Pierce, catching Landon Sutton off guard.

Seeing he didn’t answer, she took the opportunity to examine him suspiciously and quickly clarified, "I’m just asking casually."

"Her grandfather was a comrade of my grandfather. We met a few times as kids, then only recently saw each other."

"...Oh."

"What were you thinking? Do you think there’s something between us?"

"No, I didn’t." Shannon Quinn immediately denied it and adopted an indifferent attitude, randomly pressing the remote to hide her expressions, "Plus, we’re nothing now; even if there was something between you and her, I couldn’t care less."

Landon Sutton chuckled, "Didn’t know before, you’re quite jealous."

"Who’s jealous? I said I’m just asking casually!"

"Mm, so how did you meet her?"

"In the same business field."

"You knew her before?"

"Not really familiar, just met a few days ago."

"To introduce her brother to you?"

Shannon Quinn paused, not expecting him to know about this.

"Then you went, if you hit it off, would there be no place for me?"

Shannon Quinn originally didn’t want him to truly know about this matter. Now hearing his words, she provoked him further: "Don’t say, Mr. Pierce is quite handsome; I hear he’s a fitness coach, his physique must be great."

"Do you want me to take off my shirt and show you?"

Seeing him act like he’s about to take off his shirt, Shannon Quinn hurriedly stopped him: "What are you doing?! What if the child comes back and sees this!"

Landon Sutton laughed, "Just letting you inspect the goods."

"Shameless."

She’s aware of his physique, knowing it’s hard not to be good due to high-intensity training at the camp all the time.

"It’s late, you should leave. I need to rest soon too."

"Where should I go?"

Shannon Quinn glanced at him and said, "So many hotels, don’t you have a place to stay?"

"It’s so boring to stay alone at a hotel."

Shannon Quinn knew he wanted to stay here but purposely twisted his meaning, teasing him: "Being alone is boring, then find a little girl to accompany you."

"One’s right here."

Shannon Quinn rolled her eyes, "Get out!"

"I’m waiting for Leo."

When Leo returned, Landon Sutton accompanied the child to take a bath. Hearing father and son laughing in the bathroom and Leo’s happy laughter, Shannon Quinn felt like something inside her heart was suddenly filled with something.

She always thought she gave all her love to Leo, but now she seems to realize there are types of love she can never provide.

Without Landon Sutton’s presence, Leo always acted mature and sensible, taking on the role of the family’s sole male.

Only in front of Landon Sutton did he truly seem like a child.

He would accept Landon Sutton’s help in getting dressed, loved being hugged by Landon Sutton, and kept babbling away when with Landon Sutton; Shannon Quinn never knew Leo had this curious side.

Landon Sutton stayed with Leo until he fell asleep, and the whole room returned to complete silence.

"Knock knock—" he gently knocked on Shannon Quinn’s slightly ajar door, pushing it halfway open and standing at the door watching her sit on the bed taking medicine.

"When will you sleep?" he asked.

Shannon Quinn glanced at him, put the pills in her palm into her mouth, took a sip of water, and swallowed before replying, "Right after this."

"Do you need me to stay with you a bit more?"

"No need."

"Want to hear a story?"

She furrowed her brow, intensified her tone: "No need!"

Landon Sutton chuckled, stood quietly at the door for a while watching her before saying, "Then I’ll go first."

Shannon Quinn looked up at him and then nodded: "Mm."

"Really not going to let me stay?"

"Why would I let you stay? Get out, turn off the light for me." Shannon Quinn slowly lay back on the bed, pulling the quilt over.

Landon Sutton’s corners of the mouth lifted, he reached out and pressed the light switch by the door, softly said towards her in the darkness: "Good night."
