My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 239: Out of Favor
CHAPTER 239: CHAPTER 239: OUT OF FAVOR
After breaking the ice on their relationship, the father and son grew even closer. Landon Sutton seemed determined to make up for lost years, spoiling Leo like crazy.
Shannon Quinn was relieved that Leo had spent a few years just with her, developing his own personality and temperament. Otherwise, she would have worried that Landon Sutton’s spoiling would make the child overly sensitive and bratty.
Leo is a bit more childish than before, but still well-behaved and sensible.
Shannon Quinn felt as though she had lost her place. When Leo came home from school, he would cling to Landon Sutton, leaving her neither with her son nor her husband.
To be precise, he wasn’t quite her husband yet.
Although she had indeed accepted Landon Sutton, a remarriage was possible, she was waiting for a formal proposal. Until he properly asked her to marry him, she wouldn’t agree.
The last time was confusing; she didn’t want to repeat the same mistake.
Two weeks after the school term began, Landon Sutton accompanied Shannon Quinn for a follow-up at the hospital. The doctor advised that she should avoid vigorous activities and heavy labor for now, but otherwise, there were no major issues.
That evening, after Leo fell asleep, Shannon Quinn was sitting by the dressing table, lifting her nightgown to look at the scar on her rib, when the door suddenly swung open.
She hurriedly lowered her gown, staring at the man standing by the door with a frown: "Don’t you know how to knock?"
"I saw the door was open," Landon Sutton walked in, glancing around the room. Shannon Quinn immediately said to him, "If you have something to say, say it directly, stop wandering aimlessly!"
Landon Sutton chuckled, placing two plane tickets in front of her, saying, "Tomorrow at 3 PM."
"Where to?" She asked while looking at the destination on the tickets, frowning, "Are you going back?"
"Not me, us."
Upon hearing this, Shannon Quinn put on a proud posture, applying lotion on her arms as she said, "I haven’t agreed to marry you yet."
"Not going back to the Rhodes Family, taking you out for fun."
Shannon Quinn paused slightly in her actions, then said, "I don’t have the time to accompany you to such a far place for fun."
"I’ve spoken to mom and our son, they both agree, so you don’t need to worry about things here. Besides, didn’t you complain that I hadn’t properly taken you out before?"
"When did I complain?"
"Alright, pack a few sets of clothes; we’ll stay longer and the weather there is relatively warm. Bring summer clothes and a couple of jackets." While suggesting she pack herself, Landon Sutton was already walking towards the closet, pulling it open. Shannon Quinn immediately said, "I’ll pack the clothes myself, don’t touch them."
Landon Sutton already opened the closet, and as the door swung open, a few articles of clothing spilled out: a nightgown and two lingerie pieces. He bent down to pick them up, frowned while looking at the chaotic state in the closet, and muttered, "So messy?"
Blushing, Shannon Quinn hurried over and snatched the clothing from his hand, stuffing them back into the drawer in the closet, saying, "As long as I can find my things, it’s fine."
Landon Sutton sighed lightly, "Bring out the clothes you want to take; I’ll fold the rest and it’s warming up soon, so winter clothes need to be packed away."
"No need, I’ll pack them myself."
Despite repeatedly refusing, Landon Sutton started tidying up nonetheless. So she gave up resisting, as he had already seen it all.
She thought he would be like her mother, helping her tidying while babbling about her lack of organization, but he didn’t.
The tidying was actually quite quick, so Shannon Quinn awkwardly joined in, taking this chance to pull out the clothes she’d be taking on the trip.
"Are we going somewhere requiring swimwear?" She flipped through the swimsuits and asked.
Landon Sutton glanced at the swimwear in her hand, thinking he hadn’t seen her in a swimsuit before, and said, "Bring it."
Even if he hadn’t planned any water-related activities beforehand, he would make arrangements now.
"Does that mean we’re going to the beach? If so, I’ll bring long dresses."
"Bring them."
"Then I’d need a hat too."
"Also, I really like this dress."
"Bring one light-colored bag and one dark-colored bag to match the outfits."
"This bag is larger and can hold more, so bring it too."
Landon Sutton: "..."
"Which of these two skirts should I bring?"
"Didn’t you already pack a similar one?"
"The colors are different."
Landon Sutton said, "Bring both, if they don’t fit in my suitcase, we can pack them."
"Okay."
He secretly thought, lucky it isn’t cold out; winter clothes packed her way would require several suitcases.
Shannon Quinn hadn’t been on a trip for too long, feeling quite excited about going out, although along with that excitement came inevitable nerves, since it was her first time going out alone with Landon Sutton.
He deliberately chose an afternoon departure, allowing her to sleep in the morning until naturally waking, having lunch, and then leisurely head out, avoiding a rush.
Shannon Quinn carried her small crossbody bag, leaving both suitcases to Landon Sutton.
The strength difference between men and women was evident, seeing him manage both suitcases without appearing strained.
Smoothly checking in the luggage, they passed through security, and arrived at the departure lounge.
Honestly, Shannon Quinn rarely had the opportunity to travel for leisure.
Most visits to the airport were for work, so this was the first time she felt so relaxed, radiating joy from her whole being.
After updating her social media, she turned to Landon Sutton asking, "By the way, aren’t you busy? You seemed quite free lately; has the company really nothing going on, or did you push aside company work?"
Landon Sutton smiled, "Busy chasing a wife."
She rolled her eyes at him before he answered her question more seriously, "End-of-year work is done, and there isn’t much at the beginning of the year, so I have time to accompany you."
"How many places are we going?"
"You’ll see."
Shannon Quinn laughed, not pursuing the question further, as the unknown brought her not unease, but anticipation and surprises.
Along the way, Shannon Quinn kept taking photos, while Landon Sutton indulged her, occasionally helping her take some as she requested, only to be criticized afterward for "typical guy photography."
He insisted, "I think they all look good."
She sorted through photos, deleting those she couldn’t stand, even showing him some "masterpieces" before removing them.
"This one caught me with my eyes closed."
"I’ve got the phone and can’t control whether you close or open your eyes, so closing them during the shot is your own issue, not much to do with me."
"What about this one? Looks like I’m only 5 feet tall!"
"You’re not that tall anyway."
Frustrated, she corrected, "I’m 5’5"! And I’m wearing heels!"
Disdainfully, he replied, "I’m almost 6’3 and don’t flaunt it as much."
