CHAPTER 26: CHAPTER 26: BEAT HER WITHIN AN INCH OF HER LIFE

"That’s still better than wilting away with no one to appreciate."

"Having Landon Sutton supporting you recently, you’ve gotten quite bold, haven’t you?"

Shannon Quinn twirled her hair and said blandly, "Who else do I need for support?"

June Yardley knew she couldn’t compete with Shannon Quinn in status since she hadn’t married Simon Rhodes yet, so she shifted the topic, "I remember telling you, my sister likes Landon Sutton, so stay away from him."

"Sorry, Miss Yardley, whoever your sister likes is her business, and I can’t control who Landon Sutton likes. You can’t blame me because Landon doesn’t fancy your sister, it’s really unfair."

"Do you think I don’t know your little affair with Landon Sutton? Just wait, if you don’t restrain yourself, when this reaches Grandpa’s ears, do you think the Rhodes Family will keep a shameless woman like you?"

Shannon Quinn stood up, her maple leaf red lips curved slightly, revealing neat white teeth, and looked down at June Yardley, saying, "It might be better to say these things after you’ve succeeded. Saying them now just makes me feel like you’re dreaming."

Watching Shannon turn and walk away, June Yardley gnashed her teeth in anger, her gaze growing more vicious.

She stood up, chasing after Shannon Quinn in her high heels, and before Shannon could react, June stumbled towards her.

Right next to Shannon was a tall champagne tower, and June lunged straight at it, causing the glasses to shake and crash to the ground, spilling liquid everywhere.

June Yardley was ruthless to others and herself.

Knowing the sound of breaking glass would attract attention, she staged a fake fall onto the pile of shards, and Shannon could see multiple cuts on her arm.

Shannon stepped aside, yet June fell right at her feet, with no one else closer to June than Shannon. As Shannon realized what was happening, she heard June crying plaintively, "You hit my sister, and now this... I know my sister offended you, but we’ve both apologized. Why do you persist?"

"What happened? What happened to Little June?" A middle-aged man in a suit rushed over from the crowd, looking at June with concern.

The man seemed to be some company’s deputy director, seen at previous banquets, always pursuing June Yardley.

June took the man’s outstretched hand, struggling to stand up from the ground, with shards of glass still visible in her bleeding arm.

"Director Ward... wuwu..." she sobbed, burying her face in Director Ward’s embrace.

Shannon Quinn watched coldly, smirking at June’s orchestrated scene, vaguely hearing whispers around them about going too far and bullying.

"Was it her who pushed you?" Director Ward pointed at Shannon Quinn, looking ready to avenge June.

The news of Shannon Quinn’s marriage to Vincent Rhodes was well-known in their circle, though few had seen Vincent or realized she was his wife.

Director Ward summoned two men, resembling assistants or bodyguards, holding June with the air of a hero, ordering, "Beat this woman for me! Dare to bully our Little June, beat her to death!"

Shannon Quinn appeared calm, but was actually confused, having never faced such a situation.

She could talk tough, but dealing with two tall, muscular men was beyond her skill.

Before she could even think of escaping, one of the men grabbed her arm and slammed her hard to the ground.

Glass shards were everywhere, and as her palm was pierced, Shannon realized just how ruthless June was.

"Do you know who I am? If you dare to..."

Before she could finish, Director Ward stepped forward, kicking Shannon’s shoulder blade hard, sending her sprawling.

"I don’t care who the hell you are! You did this to Little June, now you’ll taste the glass too!" Director Ward said, grinding his shoe into Shannon’s shoulder.

The thin fabric couldn’t protect against the sharp glass, and Shannon felt as if knives were slicing her back, her face turning pale with pain.

June Yardley stood nearby, clutching her bleeding arm, a private smile on her lips.

She felt it was worth it.

Seeing Shannon like this was worth it.

Landon Sutton exited the old man’s study, his demeanor somber, perhaps due to a heavy conversation or a scolding.

He instinctively looked for Shannon Quinn as he descended the stairs, immediately spotting a crowd not far away.

Through the throng, he glimpsed the color of Shannon’s dress, and realizing something was amiss, he quickened his pace, pushing through the crowd to see the scene before him, his eyes filled with murderous intent...

Director Ward, with his back to Landon Sutton, laughed freely as he watched Shannon’s dress stain with blood.

June, noticing Landon’s arrival, quickly hid her smile and rushed forward, grabbing Director Ward’s arm, "Stop hitting her! Director Ward, please stop! I believe she didn’t mean it."

Before Director Ward could respond, he was struck hard on the temple, the force sending his large frame to the ground, his glasses flying several meters, shattering upon impact.

Standing beside him, June was also pulled down.

Landon Sutton pinned Director Ward with his leg, his punches precise and fierce on Director Ward’s face, leaving him speechless and bleeding profusely.

The two bodyguards looked at each other, familiar with the man before them, not daring to intervene.

With Landon Sutton’s ferocious demeanor, no one dared approach.

Trained rigorously, Landon easily bested Director Ward, leaving him beaten on the ground, and there were even women’s voices admiring Landon in the background.

Landon turned to Shannon Quinn, who seemed to be slipping in and out of consciousness, curled up on the ground.

No time to understand the whole situation or deal with those who hurt her.

He took off his coat, carefully draping it over Shannon, lifting her gently, and hurried upstairs, urgently instructing the stunned servants, "Call a doctor!"

He hated himself for allowing this to happen under his watch.

Feeling her blood on his hands, unsure of the extent of her injuries, the woman he cherished was harmed so badly.

The usually sharp-tongued woman now lay weakly in his arms.
