My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 265: Did You Miss Me?
CHAPTER 265: CHAPTER 265: DID YOU MISS ME?
Simon Rhodes peeked into her room, not wanting to put her in a difficult position, and said with a smile, "There’s no need, nothing else going on, you should rest early, I’ll head back now."
With that, he turned around, easily vaulted over the railing with his long legs, passed through the rose bushes, and disappeared into the night.
Susan Wilde stood by the railing, staring in the direction he left, somewhat absent-minded.
"Madam?"
Hearing Mrs. Morgan’s voice, Susan immediately snapped out of her thoughts, turned around, and opened the door to go back inside.
Mrs. Morgan came in carrying the soup she had just made and smiled, "Did Madam fall asleep just now?"
Presumably, Mrs. Morgan had been calling her for a while, but Susan hadn’t been paying attention while on the balcony.
Thinking about what had just happened, she felt inexplicably guilty and forced a smile, "I was just using the bathroom."
"Oh, this is from the old lady’s instructions, she said for you to drink a bowl every night to nourish your body. She said you’re too skinny, and if you don’t take good care of yourself, pregnancy will be very difficult in the future."
Susan thought that pregnancy was unlikely to happen to her in the near future, but she still smiled and accepted the soup from Mrs. Morgan, saying, "Thank you, I’ll drink it in a bit, you go rest early."
"Alright." Mrs. Morgan took a couple of steps towards the door, then turned and asked, "Why hasn’t Sir come back yet?"
"Oh, he has work stuff, he’ll be back later."
"Madam, why don’t you go stay upstairs with Sir?"
Susan was taken aback and quickly made up an excuse, "I’m not used to sleeping with someone else yet."
"You’re already married, it’s not reasonable to sleep in separate rooms."
"We haven’t known each other for long, so I want to get used to each other first."
Mrs. Morgan nodded with a smile and added, "Also, make sure to eat breakfast, Madam. Sir cares about you a lot. He made breakfast for you with much effort yesterday morning, and he was upset when you didn’t eat it."
"...You should make it tomorrow, Sir is so busy with work, he shouldn’t have to worry about these things."
"I also suggested that at first, but Sir insisted on wanting to make it for you personally, it shows his dedication."
Susan kept a smile on her face but thought to herself, who knows what scheme Shawn Rhodes is plotting, she didn’t want to end up blindly being taken advantage of.
That night, she went to bed, and Shawn still hadn’t come back. She didn’t even know when he returned, but he woke her up for breakfast the next morning.
Seeing him stand by her bed, playing the role of a good husband coaxing her out of bed, Susan felt a chill.
Just as she was about to question his intentions, she saw Mrs. Morgan smiling contentedly at the door, so she swallowed her questions.
Managing to take a couple of bites of breakfast, Shawn offered to drive her to work.
But as soon as they reached the entrance of the villa, he dropped her off by the roadside.
Susan was confused, wondering if this person had a split personality.
In the following days, Shawn was especially nice to her at home, but only in front of Mrs. Morgan.
He would occasionally come home to cook dinner for her, and pick her up from work, but it was all for show.
Until a few days later, during dinner, what Shawn said to Mrs. Morgan made Susan realize what he was up to.
"Mrs. Morgan, I don’t have much going on at the company recently, and I’m good at cooking myself, so I can take care of Susan, you don’t need to stay here."
"But the old lady, she..."
"I want to spend time alone with Susan to develop our relationship, having you here would disturb us."
Mrs. Morgan then understood, smiled, and nodded, "Alright, I’ll go apply with the old lady tomorrow."
Mrs. Morgan was there to check on their newlywed life, and during this period, Shawn showed Susan such care and concern that Mrs. Morgan was successfully deceived. When she reported back to the old lady, naturally, her worries were put to rest.
And Shawn could freely be with his Laura.
Originally, she thought he was just a bad-tempered man with no plans, but now it seemed he had some schemes in mind.
Mrs. Morgan left the next day, and that night Shawn didn’t return.
It didn’t affect Susan much, after finishing her work, she sat on the cushion by the bed, eating and watching TV shows.
Knowing she was the only one in the house, she felt more at ease.
Shannon Quinn had always been concerned about her situation, and Susan would discuss almost everything with Shannon.
During the Qingming holiday, which coincided with the Rhodes Family’s tomb-sweeping, Shannon brought Leo back with her.
Last time she returned, Landon Sutton didn’t come with them.
Shannon knew Landon had a lot of work on his plate, so she suggested he should stay behind and focus on his work.
Almost every night during this period, they would video call, although Shannon’s phone conversations with Landon didn’t last as long as Leo’s. Once the call started, Leo would hog the phone to chat with his dad about what happened at school that day.
Leo even developed a habit of needing to call Landon before bedtime to be able to sleep.
After Leo fell asleep, Shannon would pick up the phone, but didn’t want to waste Landon’s time further, after expressing simple concerns, she would hang up.
Because she knew Landon would never use work to brush them off, he would chat with them first and then get back to work.
If she chatted with him longer, his work time would extend, and he’d have to work late into the night.
They had been apart for just over half a month, and she missed him terribly.
Landon personally went to the airport to pick them up, and when Leo saw him, he ran towards him like a runaway horse.
"Slow down!"
Shannon reminded him with a smile while quickening her pace appropriately.
Landon bent down to catch the running Leo, who clung to his dad like a little limpet.
Seeing Shannon approaching, Landon stood up, holding Leo with one hand and wrapping the other around Shannon, asking her, "Did you miss me?"
Shannon pursed her lips, no longer denying it, "I did."
Landon smiled in satisfaction, pulling away a bit to look at her, he lowered his head and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Leo tugged at his clothes and said, "Daddy, I want a kiss too."
Landon adoringly tousled Leo’s hair, hoisted him up, and kissed his cheek.
"Don’t hold him, he’s gotten much heavier and cumbersome, let him walk on his own."
Leo, dissatisfied with Shannon’s statement, corrected, "I’m not heavier, I’ve grown taller!"
"Get down and let’s see how tall you are now?"
Upon hearing this, Leo immediately lowered himself, used his hand to measure his height against Landon, and said, "I’ll be as tall as Dad someday, right?"
"Yes, as long as you behave, you’ll be as tall as Dad." Landon said, holding the hands of both wife and son as they walked out of the airport.
After getting in the car, Landon said, "Shannon, how about moving back? Tomorrow, let’s go house hunting, I don’t want to go such long periods without seeing you and our child."
