My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 270: I Do
CHAPTER 270: CHAPTER 270: I DO
Even with Landon Sutton’s arrangements, Shannon Quinn couldn’t sleep well because of the press conference. Early the next morning, Landon called her to get up and asked her to dress up.
Shannon thought she would be facing the cameras, so she naturally had to pay attention to her appearance. She applied some light makeup and went out with Landon.
At the company entrance, although the reporters weren’t crowding around anymore, they could see journalist teams entering the company, waiting for the conference to start early.
Landon didn’t stop at the company entrance but drove to the parking lot, going directly from the basement to his office floor: "You sit here for a while, I’ll go downstairs to take a look."
Shannon nodded, her hands sweaty from nervousness.
The company had held press conferences before for new product releases, and she had faced many cameras and questions.
But those were questions within her expertise, while today’s were about personal relationships.
Thinking about the online abuse yesterday, just reading it made her feel uncomfortable. If she had to hear those hurtful words in person from so many reporters, she might not handle it well.
The press conference was scheduled for nine o’clock. Even before then, the meeting room was already packed with reporters from various newspapers and TV stations.
As it approached nine, only Ronan Rhodes knocked on the door: "Sister-in-law, the conference is about to start, Master Nate sent me to ask you to come down."
Shannon immediately stood up and went downstairs with Ronan.
Standing at the meeting room door, she saw Landon still on the podium, first politely saying some pleasantries to welcome the journalists.
He then proactively mentioned the newspaper article from yesterday, saying, "I believe you all have many questions and curiosities, you may start asking them now, and I’ll address them one by one."
The questions were mostly similar to those raised at the entrance yesterday.
"Mr. Sutton, could you answer whether Miss Quinn’s divorce from Young Master Rhodes was related to you?"
Landon smiled faintly and replied, "Yes."
The reporters were stunned, and after two seconds of silence, someone continued to ask, "Then when was it that you and Shannon Quinn got to know each other?"
Landon responded generously: "Eleven years ago."
This time frame seemed to exceed all the reporters’ expectations. They expected the timeline to be after Shannon’s marriage to Vincent Rhodes, not as far back as eleven years ago.
"So, does Mr. Sutton admit to having destroyed Young Master Rhodes’s marriage, or did Miss Quinn cheat first?"
"I don’t think it’s about destruction or cheating. She and I were meant to be together."
The reporters thought Landon’s values were skewed, boldly justifying his actions of breaking a marriage.
"Then if that’s the case, did Miss Quinn’s initial marriage to Young Master Rhodes involve any interests of the Sutton Group, or was it a conspiracy in your collaboration?"
Landon smiled and took the microphone from the stand, walked a few steps aside, and said, "Yes, they divorced, but she didn’t cheat, and I didn’t poach her. Their divorce back then, like now, was mainly due to exaggerated reports."
The reporters were puzzled, looking at each other, while Landon continued, "Young Master Rhodes isn’t disabled, not a monster, and has no ’obstacles.’ He’s right here, just now."
The reporters looked around out of curiosity, perhaps more interested in seeing Young Master Rhodes than the emotional entanglement.
Landon glanced at Shannon standing by the door and continued, "My name is Landon Sutton, but I also have another name—Vincent Rhodes."
At these words, the crowd was astounded, cameras flashing nonstop. This revelation was far more sensational than mere relationship controversies.
"Can Mr. Sutton explain the reasoning behind this?"
"I can say that the identity of Landon Sutton was born from business development reasons, the rest is business secret, and it’s inconvenient to disclose too much."
"How can we believe you are Vincent Rhodes?"
"The Sutton Group’s rapid rise to become a legend is something you’ve all heard of. In fact, there isn’t anything extraordinary about it, that’s why The Rhodes Group exists today. It’s only because my real identity is Vincent Rhodes."
As the reporters discussed among themselves, feeling a bit convinced, someone asked, "Why choose to reveal this identity now?"
"While I initially had no intention to clarify anything, thinking it unnecessary, I simply wanted to live a peaceful life with my beloved. But the negative reports seriously affected our lives now, so I take this opportunity to clarify, hoping that everyone won’t focus too much on our private lives. My partner is a remarkable fashion designer, and you should pay more attention to her work."
Shannon didn’t expect him to take the opportunity to promote her.
Watching the reporters being gradually convinced, without raising more challenging questions, Shannon thought the matter was over, but Landon suddenly glanced at her and said, "Actually, there’s another important reason today, and I hope everyone can witness it."
With that, Landon motioned for Shannon to come over. Feeling dumbfounded, she looked around. Only when Ronan gently nudged her did she step forward. "Good luck, sister-in-law!"
Shannon was nudged out, the cameras instantly focusing on her.
Forcing a smile, Landon walked over, holding her hand, leading her to the stage.
Ronan quickly came up to hand a small box to Landon, taking the bouquet of vibrant roses with his other hand. Without using the microphone, he said to Shannon, "You always said I wasn’t romantic and never gave you gifts. I just want you to know, I’m trying to change for you."
Under the flashing lights and numerous cameras, Shannon immediately blushed, quickly accepting the roses from Landon, whispering, "Why are you doing this in front of so many people?"
"Just keep your eyes on me," he said, suddenly kneeling on one knee before her, looking up and taking the ring from the box, asking nobly, "Miss Shannon Quinn, will you marry me?"
Shannon was immediately stunned, with a flood of emotions in her heart, staring at the man in front of her, ignoring the surrounding flashes, seeing only him.
Even though she was happy, her eyes unwittingly reddened, smiling as she extended her hand, her voice choked with emotion as she replied, "I will."
