My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 275: Hide Your Woman Well
CHAPTER 275: CHAPTER 275: HIDE YOUR WOMAN WELL
Early the next morning, before Susan Wilde’s alarm went off, Shawn Rhodes was already knocking on her door.
Last time, she was frightened by his roughness in her sleep, so even though she lived downstairs, she made sure to lock her door.
She got up and walked to the door, opening it to see Shawn standing there in matching silk pajamas meant for him and Rowan Alder.
"My mom called and said she’ll be over soon, so get yourself ready."
Susan was momentarily stunned, then nodded, "I got it."
Shawn turned to leave, and Susan couldn’t help but add, "Hide your woman well, don’t give me any trouble."
Hearing this, Shawn turned back and reprimanded, "Stop being sarcastic, just don’t pull any stunts."
When Susan finished freshening up and went out, Shawn was in the kitchen making breakfast.
He wasn’t pretending just because Mrs. Rhodes was coming; whenever he had time, he would cook, but only for Rowan Alder.
The doorbell rang, and Susan got up from the sofa to open the door, finding Mrs. Rhodes and Mrs. Morgan outside. She quickly stepped aside to let them in.
"Skylar, up so early? Did I come too early and disturb your rest?"
"No, I usually get up around this time."
"I know you both usually have work and are busy all day, sometimes working late, so I came early while both of you are home." Mrs. Rhodes entered the house and heard noises from the kitchen, looking pleased. "My son even started making his own breakfast? That’s good; no matter how good it is outside, nothing’s as clean as homemade."
Mrs. Morgan seized the opportunity to praise Shawn, "Whenever I’m around, Young Master always cooks personally for Madam when he has time, treating her very well."
Seeing their good relationship, Mrs. Rhodes nodded contentedly and pointed at the basket Mrs. Morgan was holding, "These are chickens Mrs. Morgan brought from the hometown, very nutritious soup, freshly slaughtered this morning. Let Mrs. Morgan make some chicken soup for you both, have it when you get back for lunch."
Shawn’s voice came from the kitchen, "Mom, neither Skylar nor I will be home for lunch, just let Mrs. Morgan put it in the fridge, I’ll stew it tonight."
"That works too. I’ve got the ingredients ready, remember to stew it longer. Look at how thin Skylar is, make sure to cook more good food for her."
"Don’t worry, Mom, I won’t let her down. You don’t have to worry about these things anymore, coming over personally. You never seemed so concerned about me before."
Mrs. Rhodes glanced upstairs, asking, "Are you still sleeping separately?"
Susan gave Shawn a look but didn’t answer. Shawn smiled after a pause, "We’re living together."
"Living together or sleeping together?"
"Oh mom, don’t meddle so much, we have our arrangements."
"Mom just hopes Skylar gets healthier soon, and you two can give me a grandchild quickly."
"That’s not something I can produce on command."
"How can you have a baby if you don’t even try?"
Susan stood aside without speaking, watching Shawn handle these questions on his own.
Mrs. Rhodes continued giving instructions for quite a while and even wanted to go upstairs to have a look, but Shawn quickly stopped her. After some back and forth, Mrs. Rhodes left with Mrs. Morgan.
Breakfast was served on the table, but Shawn didn’t invite Susan to eat, and Susan also knew her place. After Mrs. Rhodes left, she returned to her room, put on her makeup, grabbed her bag, and headed straight out. As she was leaving, she saw Rowan Alder coming downstairs, sitting with Shawn having breakfast.
As Susan was changing her shoes at the door, Rowan Alder called out to her, "Sister, come and have a bite with us?"
Susan replied with a polite smile, "Thanks, you two enjoy."
Mrs. Rhodes was pushing for a grandchild. Susan didn’t know how long this could be delayed, but she wasn’t worried. Shawn would be more reluctant to have a child, he would be more proactive in handling it.
In this marriage, she gained, losing nothing but acquiring five percent of the Wilde Family’s shares.
When Susan arrived at the company, she saw a black Maybach parked at the entrance.
Though luxury cars weren’t rare in this city, Susan was familiar with this one, and a glance at the license plate confirmed the owner.
The business plan discussed last time had already concluded; why was he here again?
Could it be that he found the cooperation pleasant and came to discuss new business plans?
As Susan walked into the company, she noticed the atmosphere was different than usual. Everyone was quite enthusiastic and chatting in small groups.
"Boss!" The store manager spotted Susan and called out excitedly, then pointed towards Simon Rhodes, "Look! It’s really him, isn’t it?! This time it can’t possibly be fake!"
Susan cleared her throat, "A guest is here, focus on proper hospitality. What’s with the gossip?"
"No, boss, we asked. Mr. Rhodes said he was here to see you. I offered to call you, but he said it’s not necessary, and has been waiting there for half an hour."
Susan glanced at Simon Rhodes, who noticed her and nodded with a smile.
"...Mr. Rhodes, is there something you needed today?" Susan asked openly, taking a seat across from him.
Simon smiled, "It’s like this, I have a friend who’s planning to get married and wants a creative wedding, so I thought of you. I happened to have time this morning and came over to discuss it with you."
Susan laughed, "You didn’t have to come personally, but here’s my card. If your friend is interested, they can come directly."
Susan gestured for a staff member to bring over a business card, handing it to Simon, "They can come anytime. Mr. Rhodes’s friend is a friend of mine, we’ll prioritize them."
"Great, I’ll contact them later and have them call you."
Susan nodded, and Simon stood up, ready to leave.
In truth, he didn’t need to come personally for such matters. Besides, he never cared about his friends’ marriages before; he just needed an excuse to see her.
In the evening, Susan didn’t return home until after dinner with Shannon Quinn and others, at around eight. The house was empty.
She never cared or asked about Shawn’s whereabouts, and felt it was more comfortable when they weren’t home.
But it seemed they hadn’t been gone long, probably having dinner at home.
The dining table wasn’t cleaned up yet, and the chicken soup Mrs. Rhodes brought to nourish Susan had been cooked for Rowan.
She stood by the dining area, looking at the messy table. It bothered her somewhat, but she didn’t clean it up.
Why should she clean up their mess?
Out of sight, out of mind, she turned and went back to her room.
