My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 332: Out of Sight, Out of Mind
CHAPTER 332: CHAPTER 332: OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND
Susan Wilde took the bag and looked inside, finding freshly bought clothes.
Originally, she intended to pull out the dress to see its style, but instead she accidentally pulled out the underwear along with it, and they fell onto the floor.
Both of them looked at the scene simultaneously, and Susan Wilde felt embarrassed, quickly bending down to pick up the items without giving him another glance, she hurried to the bathroom.
After putting on the clothes he had prepared, a blush appeared on Susan Wilde’s face again, as even the underwear size was a perfect fit.
Furthermore, she noticed the dirty clothes she had left by the bucket after bathing last night were gone.
She saw her clothes and his hanging on the balcony when she stepped out.
"You’re ready for breakfast when you’ve finished washing up." He carried a bowl of something from the kitchen and said, looking at her.
Susan Wilde retracted her gaze, turned, and headed to the dining room, unable to help but remark how this man not only looked handsome and made money, but also made food that was appetizing just by looking at it.
"Does everything fit well?" he asked while handing a glass of warm milk towards her.
Susan Wilde lowered her head and responded with a "Hmm," before sitting on the chair and taking a sip from the milk cup.
Toast accompanied by some vegetables, fruits, and salty sauce looked aesthetically pleasing and tasted quite good.
At that moment, Susan Wilde genuinely felt a sense of regret for having met him so late.
In a failed marriage, encountering a gentle and thoughtful man becomes a major temptation for infidelity for a woman, and Simon Rhodes was now this kind of temptation.
But luckily, Susan Wilde was able to restrain herself; some things are best kept only as thoughts.
After breakfast, Susan Wilde packed her clothes into the bag and found an excuse to leave. The words "thank you" seemed somewhat insignificant, but besides expressing gratitude, she knew not what else she could do.
After leaving Simon Rhodes’ home, Susan Wilde bought a new phone from the shops along the way with the money she borrowed from him when she left his house.
He wasn’t aware her phone was broken; otherwise, he probably would have bought her a phone along with the clothes in the morning.
Susan Wilde first returned home, asked the security guard about whether the two had come back last night, and left her number with him: "If Shawn Rhodes returns, let me know."
"... Okay, madam."
After giving instructions, Susan Wilde went to the company.
At noon, Shawn Rhodes bought groceries and returned with Rowan Alder. She pressed the password on the door, but it indicated an incorrect password. Rowan Alder then remembered she had changed the password and reached over to re-enter it, telling him: "The password is my birthday."
Shawn Rhodes slightly frowned: "When did you change the password?"
"The last time I came, why? It’s just changing the door password, do you need to confront me about it?"
Shawn Rhodes said nothing, though he had some doubts, he did not express them in front of Rowan Alder.
Rowan Alder sat in the living room with the airs of a hostess, leisurely browsing through TV channels, long having cast aside the embarrassment of being kicked out last time.
Shawn Rhodes prepared the groceries in the kitchen, yet he wondered where Susan Wilde had returned to last night with the password change.
There were also no missed calls on his phone; did she not come back last night?
The suspicious knowing Shawn Rhodes naturally linked Susan Wilde to Simon Rhodes, the dark clouds on his face lingered.
Just when he was about to find an opportunity to question Susan Wilde, she returned herself.
Rowan Alder heard the doorbell but did not get up; Shawn Rhodes went to open the door.
Blocking the doorway, he asked Susan Wilde standing outside: "Where did you go last night?"
Susan Wilde smiled and replied: "I slept on the street."
She slipped through under his arm into the house, without changing her shoes, she directly entered her room.
Due to Rowan Alder watching in the living room, Shawn Rhodes didn’t follow.
When he finished cooking and was about to eat with Rowan Alder, Susan Wilde answered a call and ran to open the door; Erin Bishop had arrived.
She had come to help her move out.
The pairs ignored each other as if they were air; Shawn Rhodes felt uncomfortable, yet because Rowan Alder was sitting opposite him, he said nothing.
Susan Wilde was already accustomed to ignoring these two, whereas Erin Bishop deliberately created noise from time to time, making sarcastic remarks.
There weren’t many items, along with the cat’s things, they managed to move everything in three or four trips; in the last trip out, Susan Wilde left without saying a word, shutting the door and leaving while chatting and laughing with Erin Bishop.
The room suddenly fell silent, and Shawn Rhodes found the food tasteless today, putting down the chopsticks.
"Reluctant to let her go?" Rowan Alder asked, staring at him.
Shawn Rhodes: "Reluctant to let what go?"
Rowan Alder: "Seeing her move out, you seem to have lost your spirit."
Shawn Rhodes: "You’re overthinking."
He stood up as he finished speaking, walking towards the stairs and saying: "I’m going to take a shower; there’s no need to tidy up after eating, I’ll clean up when I come down."
Rowan Alder had been with him for so many years, understanding him and every emotion he has like the back of her hand.
She could feel his displeasure at Susan Wilde’s departure.
In the car, Erin Bishop asked: "Why move out so suddenly and urgently?"
Susan Wilde: "He changed the house password, staying would only be humiliating."
Erin Bishop: "That’s excessive, living with a mistress is bad enough, but stopping the legal wife from returning home, what logic is that? Just because he’s a relative of the Rhodes Family, he thinks he can act so recklessly?"
Susan Wilde smiled lightly: "I don’t care anymore; moving out is also good, out of sight, out of mind."
Erin Bishop: "I think you should divorce sooner rather than later, considering your situation isn’t bad, any man you find will be better than him."
Susan Wilde merely smiled and stayed silent, turning her head to look at the towering skyscraper of The Rhodes Group outside the car window, as Simon Rhodes’ face instinctively surfaced in her mind.
Leo is about to start school, Shannon Quinn has been busy preparing school supplies for the child these past few days, also busy planning the Cinderfall trip once Leo starts school with Landon Sutton.
In the evening, Landon Sutton clocked off work on time and prepared dinner in the kitchen as usual.
Shannon Quinn helped wash vegetables nearby, discussing the trip schedule with him.
But the phone in his pants pocket rang intermittently, Shannon Quinn frowned, wiped her hands dry on a towel, and reached into his pocket to retrieve the phone, murmuring: "Who keeps sending you messages on WeChat?"
She knew his WeChat didn’t have many contacts; aside from her, most were work-related, and usually, it was only her frequently communicating with him via WeChat. Now with her beside him, WeChat constantly kept ringing; her mind immediately thought of that female classmate of his.
She observed Landon Sutton’s expression as she took the phone; he seemed unconcerned about her checking his phone, still working on the tasks at hand, appearing transparent.
