My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 337: Femme Fatale
CHAPTER 337: CHAPTER 337: FEMME FATALE
Simon Rhodes chuckled lightly, "It’s not that I avoid women, I just haven’t met one I’m interested in."
The man with glasses replied, "What kind does President Rhodes like? I’ll find one for you."
Simon Rhodes’ gaze locked straight on Susan Wilde, watching Mr. Morgan’s hand on her shoulder. He wanted to chop it off!
His gaze was too direct, and both Shawn Rhodes and Mr. Morgan noticed it.
Though Mr. Morgan was reluctant to hand over the woman he could barely resist, pleasing Simon Rhodes weighed far more than any woman.
If getting a partnership opportunity with The Rhodes Group required giving up this woman, he’d even give up the women at home.
"President Rhodes, have you taken a liking to her?" Mr. Morgan tentatively asked, noticing Shawn Rhodes’ expression turn somewhat unpleasant, but he remained silent, waiting for Simon Rhodes to express his intent.
Simon Rhodes did not respond verbally, but his look at Susan Wilde had already provided an answer to everyone.
Mr. Morgan hesitated and glanced at Shawn Rhodes, thinking about the tangled relationships among them.
But he dared not say more. He simply got up, pulled Susan Wilde off the sofa, and politely placed her into Simon Rhodes’ arms.
Simon Rhodes reached out, grasped Susan Wilde’s arm, and gently tugged her towards him, causing her to fall back into his embrace.
She opened her eyes to glance at him; her vision was slightly blurry from the alcohol but she recognized him.
After seeing him, her anxious heart inexplicably calmed down.
Simon Rhodes held her soft body in his arms and even took off his coat to cover Susan Wilde.
Everyone cast a gossiping look at Shawn Rhodes, then back at Simon Rhodes holding Susan Wilde. They were very curious about the complex relationships but dared not ask.
Shawn Rhodes had a stiff expression; he hadn’t expected the situation to turn out like this.
Initially, he brought Susan Wilde over to show Simon Rhodes how the woman he liked was being taken advantage of by another man.
He thought that even if Simon Rhodes really liked Susan Wilde, he’d refrain and hold back, knowing she was known as Shawn Rhodes’ wife. Yet, he didn’t expect Simon to pull Susan Wilde to his side immediately, without any caution.
"Rarely have time to drink and chat with everyone, enjoy yourselves, tonight’s on me." Simon Rhodes said with a smile.
Sitting together with Simon Rhodes, everyone naturally wouldn’t just engage in idle chatter; they brought out the projects they hoped to invest in, mostly discussing work-related matters.
Reclining in Simon Rhodes’ embrace, the faint scent of his cologne masked the smoke and alcohol smells in the room, gradually easing her brows that were initially furrowed tightly.
While chatting with others, Simon Rhodes frequently glanced down at the woman in his arms, showing he was in a good mood tonight, while everyone tried their best to pitch their projects for investment.
The woman sleeping in his arms suddenly stirred, prompting him to glance down.
Susan Wilde sat up, awake but still intoxicated.
It seemed she was awakened by thirst.
She reached out, grabbed his glass, and gulped it down like water; Simon Rhodes didn’t stop her.
The spicy liquor burned her throat, drawing a painful frown.
He laughed softly, asking Susan Wilde, "Want more?"
Susan Wilde gave him a sweet, playful look, muttering something under her breath, then waved the empty glass in front of him.
It was as if she was saying it didn’t quench her thirst.
Mr. Morgan immediately handed over a bottle of wine, laughing, "President Rhodes’ charm is truly remarkable. She wouldn’t drink when I toasted her, but now she’s proactive in your arms."
Simon Rhodes said, "Women tend to judge by looks."
His seemingly casual remark was intended to hit Mr. Morgan, who awkwardly laughed, returning to his seat and glanced at Shawn Rhodes, who was fiercely puffing on his cigarette.
Simon Rhodes picked up a wine bottle, noticing the alcohol content was high.
He wondered how much Mr. Morgan had fueled her with high-proof drinks, and if Simon hadn’t come tonight, she might have been sent by her husband to another man’s bed.
After checking, he put down the bottle and handed her a cup of tea.
She gulped down the entire cup of tea with large quiet swallows.
Simon Rhodes took the empty cup, gently curled his hand, and she obediently leaned against his chest.
After chatting with everyone for a while longer, perhaps due to good spirits, he agreed to invest in all projects except Mr. Morgan’s.
"It’s getting late, Rhodes will leave you now, we’ll discuss the details another day. Put everything on my tab, enjoy yourselves."
After saying this, Simon Rhodes stood up, scooping Susan Wilde into his arms.
Her petite form felt effortless to carry.
Mr. Morgan grinned, nodding, "We understand, President Rhodes takes the beauty, may you enjoy as well."
Mr. Morgan escorted Simon Rhodes to the compartment door, saying, "Please consider the investment well, President Rhodes, my project has better prospects than Mr. Ma’s."
Simon Rhodes laughed and said, "I’ll think about it. Mr. Morgan, you can wait here, Rhodes will take his leave now."
Mr. Morgan nodded and bowed, smiling, "Good, good, President Rhodes, take care."
Simon Rhodes instructed his assistants at the door, "Go prepare the car."
Watching Simon Rhodes leave carrying his wife, Shawn Rhodes couldn’t sit still any longer. He stood up, intending to follow them, but Mr. Morgan stopped him, saying, "Young Master Rhodes, where are you going? We haven’t discussed our family’s cooperation thoroughly yet."
Though they were both part of the Rhodes Family, Shawn Rhodes’ company couldn’t compare to Sterling Group.
What Sterling Group dismissed as investment opportunities were actually stepping stones for his development.
He gritted his teeth, simply saying, "Going to the bathroom."
After Shawn Rhodes left, the group began to gossip, "Is that woman truly Shawn Rhodes’ wife? Simon Rhodes is Shawn’s uncle, how could he be involved with Shawn’s wife?"
"Yes, and although I’ve interacted with President Rhodes before, surrounded by ladies, he never showed any interest."
Mr. Morgan sighed, "That woman is indeed pretty. I ended up losing both beauty and investment, letting go of the beauty without securing the investment."
The man with glasses laughed, "Haha, it seems that’s the case. President Rhodes agreed to Mr. Ma’s project, and everyone knows your project is more profitable; yet President Rhodes left you out."
Old Ma cheerfully said, "I believe it’s because President Rhodes couldn’t stand you pawing that young lady first, even though he didn’t say anything, he remembered it in his heart."
Mr. Morgan sighed again, "Ah, how would I know? Shawn’s wife, and Shawn himself didn’t mind. I didn’t know this could step on President Rhodes’ landmine. Beauty brings disaster, beauty brings disaster!"
Seeing Shawn Rhodes return, the group quickly changed the topic.
