My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 346: Couple’s Bracelets
CHAPTER 346: CHAPTER 346: COUPLE’S BRACELETS
Seeing that Shannon Quinn had made her choice, the shop owner enthusiastically introduced, "Miss, you have a great eye. This is our store’s treasure."
Shannon Quinn didn’t quite believe in the so-called store’s treasure, feeling it was just a sales pitch to inflate the price.
She wasn’t there to find some rare treasure; she simply liked this pair of bracelets. "Take them out for me to have a look."
The shop owner’s wife put on gloves and took the bracelets out of the cabinet. "This stone was found by my husband near Love Rock; it’s guaranteed to be one of a kind. The knot symbolizes enduring and steadfast love, meaning the couple will never separate. It’s very meaningful!"
Hearing the shop owner’s words, Shannon Quinn was even more determined to buy the pair of bracelets. "How much?"
The shop owner’s wife held up two fingers.
Shannon Quinn: "Two hundred?"
Shop owner’s wife: "Two thousand."
Shannon Quinn’s eyes widened. "That expensive?"
Shop owner’s wife: "Not expensive at all, young lady. Just judging by the stones alone, it’s worth this price. Take a look at this craftsmanship. I guarantee there’s no one else in the entire village who can make it with such intricate craftsmanship as I do, all handcrafted by me, one thread at a time."
Shannon Quinn glanced at Landon Sutton, who gave no response.
She knew that two thousand yuan wasn’t a big deal for Landon Sutton, but she felt it was a bit overpriced and began to bargain with the shop owner’s wife. "Five hundred, for both."
Shop owner’s wife: "Oh, dear young lady, you can’t bargain like that. You can’t buy it at this price. I have many items for five hundred in my store as well. You can look over here; these are cheaper but all made of artificial beads, incomparable to the natural stones near Love Rock. Don’t you agree?"
Shannon Quinn pouted. "One thousand, for both."
The shop owner’s wife showed a slightly troubled expression and then conceded, "Alright, alright, young lady. I think we’re destined to meet. You picked this pair at first sight, so I’ll give it to you for one thousand. I’m not kidding here. I do business with a conscience. You can take it back and have it appraised if you want. With its quality and polishing technique, selling for several thousand wouldn’t be an issue."
Shannon Quinn felt she’d gotten a good deal and happily turned to Landon Sutton, "Pay up."
Landon Sutton didn’t want to spoil her mood over a one thousand yuan item and silently paid.
Shop owner’s wife: "Shall I pack it up for you?"
Shannon Quinn: "No need, I’ll wear it directly."
She took the bracelet from the shop owner’s wife, put it on herself first, and then disregarded Landon Sutton’s disapproving look. She grabbed his left hand and put it on him as well.
It had to be said his hand was nice-looking. Even a somewhat cheap-looking woven bracelet elevated in quality on his wrist.
But that didn’t exempt it from his critique: "Flashy."
Shannon Quinn kept raising her hand to admire it. "Don’t you think it looks nice? Look, when the sun hits the stone, it shines. Isn’t it magical?"
Landon Sutton: "Do you want to take it to the temple for a blessing?"
Shannon Quinn earnestly nodded, "That’s possible. Let’s make time to go together someday."
Landon Sutton frowned, "Do I make you feel so insecure that you always believe in these superstitions?"
Shannon Quinn: "Good omens make people feel secure. You wouldn’t understand. You just wear it obediently."
Saying that, Shannon Quinn took his hand, placed the two bracelets together, took out her phone, and snapped a picture to post on social media.
Landon Sutton didn’t stop her but didn’t join in either, going along to make her happy.
They said they came to this village to experience the local culture, but it turned into a shopping trip in the end.
Anything odd and interesting that she hadn’t seen before and found pretty, she wanted to buy.
Seeing that she was happy, Landon Sutton was, of course, willing to spend a bit of money to keep her content.
...
Shawn Rhodes hadn’t seen Susan Wilde for a while. He had tried reaching out to her but received no response.
Laura had been feeling nauseous these days, and Shawn stayed close, attending to her.
In the evening, Laura lay on the sofa and flipped through a bridal magazine.
"Shaw, can we find some time to take wedding photos?"
Shawn Rhodes stubbed out his cigarette and walked in from the balcony, "Why take those? Haven’t you been feeling unwell lately?"
Laura: "I’m a lot better these past days. I just want to take some now while my belly isn’t showing, then take another set when it does to record the whole pregnancy process."
Shawn Rhodes: "Then you set the time."
Laura: "How about next month? By then, my belly will be a bit rounder, and it will look better in photos. I’ll book a time and let you know."
Shawn Rhodes: "Alright, I have some work at the office tonight, so I’ll head out for a bit but will be back soon."
Laura, hearing he was leaving, felt slightly unhappy, "Are you really going to the office?"
Shawn Rhodes: "Do you want to come with me?"
Laura hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "You go on your own. I’m afraid I’ll get carsick and feel sick again."
Shawn Rhodes chuckled, bent down, and planted a kiss on her forehead, "Be good, I’ll be back soon."
Laura nodded, seeing him off to the car, watching him leave with reluctance, "Be safe on the road."
Shawn Rhodes: "Go back inside. Is there anything you want to eat? I’ll bring it back for you."
Laura: "I want the noodles from the street behind your office."
Shawn Rhodes: "Alright."
Shawn Rhodes drove out, heading straight to Susan Wilde’s place.
"Ding-dong—"
The doorbell rang, and Shawn stood by the door, feeling a bit anxious, uncertain of whether she’d open the door for him.
Just as he was about to press it a second time, someone opened the door from the inside.
"Brother-in-law?!" Claire Wilde appeared excited to see him, "Did you just get back from a business trip?"
Shawn Rhodes was momentarily stunned, not expecting her sister to be there too.
He was about to ask where Susan Wilde was when he saw her come out of the room.
"Sis, come out! Brother-in-law is here!" Claire Wilde happily pulled Susan Wilde over, "Why didn’t you say he was coming?"
Susan Wilde glanced at Shawn Rhodes, unwilling to let Claire see any discord between them, invited Shawn Rhodes into the house.
Claire Wilde was gaming with Julian Yardley and promptly returned to her computer, put on her headset, and resumed the game.
Maintaining appearances, Susan Wilde poured Shawn Rhodes a glass of water.
Seeing Claire Wilde playing with her headset on, she assumed she couldn’t hear their conversation and asked Shawn Rhodes, "What’s up?"
Shawn Rhodes took a sip of the water she handed over and glanced around the room, "Living here with your sister?"
Susan Wilde made a faint sound of agreement, not wanting to talk much with Shawn Rhodes.
Shawn Rhodes: "How have you been?"
Susan Wilde: "Fine."
Shawn Rhodes: "I guess because I haven’t bothered you and him, so you’re doing well?"
Susan Wilde: "Think whatever you want."
