My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 356: She’s Interested in You
CHAPTER 356: CHAPTER 356: SHE’S INTERESTED IN YOU
Landon Sutton ate his food, nodding thoughtfully.
Evidently, he had his own thoughts and judgments.
Joel Bellamy ladled a bowl of soup for him, saying as he did so, "Even if she shows you pictures or photos, you shouldn’t believe them. Even if she shows you a marriage certificate, don’t trust it. Technology is very advanced now, and these things can be faked. She has people in the city, so it’s easy for her to get these things done. Don’t let her fool you."
Landon Sutton only nodded. It was only when Joel Bellamy handed him the soup bowl that he noticed the bracelet on Joel Bellamy’s wrist.
The blue stone beads were very distinctive, and it wasn’t difficult to see that it looked quite similar to the one he wore.
Landon Sutton asked, "Where did this bracelet come from?"
Joel Bellamy seemed to have already prepared his explanation and began to eloquently narrate, "Don’t you remember? The last time we went to the city together, you bought it for me. It’s our token of love!"
Landon Sutton was silent, feeling that he didn’t seem to have any romantic feelings toward the girl in front of him.
In the afternoon, while Joel Bellamy was taking a nap, Landon Sutton went out alone.
He climbed over the small hill and saw the house that Shannon Quinn had mentioned.
As he approached the house, Shannon Quinn, sitting on the upstairs balcony, saw him immediately and stood up from the rocking chair, waving at him from the second-floor balcony, "Nate!"
After calling out, she quickly ran down from the stairs on one side, like a girl in love suddenly seeing her boyfriend at the foot of the stairs.
After coming down, she stood at a distance, smiling shyly at him, not daring to get too close.
After making eye contact for a while, Landon Sutton finally spoke, "May I come in?"
Shannon Quinn seemed to snap back to reality, "Follow me."
Leading him upstairs, when she went to move a chair, he proactively reached out to take the somewhat heavy wooden chair from her hand, "I’ll do it myself."
Shannon Quinn pursed her lips, guessing that perhaps he was considerate of her being pregnant, hence more attentive.
Even if he couldn’t remember past events, his gentlemanly demeanor was still present in his bones.
After sitting down, she poured him a cup of tea, "Have some tea first, I’ll go get something from the room."
Her room was just behind her. She pushed the door open, and shortly afterward, came running out with a pink notebook.
She spread the notebook on the table in front of him, flipping through it as she spoke, "The notebook was salvaged from the water. The previous photos weren’t laminated and were completely washed away by the water, but fortunately, the handwriting is still intact."
Landon Sutton reached out to pull the notebook towards himself, casually flipped through two pages, and asked her, "What is my name?"
This question seemed a bit ridiculous, yet Shannon Quinn seriously used a pen to flip to a blank page and wrote his name on the paper: Landon Sutton.
She explained, "This is just one of your names, but I’m used to calling you this one."
After speaking, she then wrote another name below it: Vincent Rhodes.
"This is your real name, you’re Vincent, the second son of the Rhodes Family. The man who followed me yesterday is your elder brother, named Simon Rhodes."
She patiently explained these seemingly irrelevant things, hoping that these seemingly insignificant details might inadvertently trigger some of his memories.
Although Shannon Quinn’s explanation and Joel Bellamy’s differed greatly, he did not question either of them, keeping both of their words in mind, simply judging for himself which story was true about his past.
Shannon Quinn began narrating from the time they first married. The matters were somewhat complicated, but she narrated with a fairly logical flow, and Landon Sutton listened attentively.
She knew it wasn’t possible to tell him everything in one day. If she told him too much, he might just treat it like a story and forget it. After finishing a segment, Shannon Quinn closed the notebook and asked him, "Does any of this evoke any memories?"
Landon Sutton gently shook his head, and after a moment of silence, asked, "How did I lose my memory?"
He wanted to listen to Shannon Quinn’s and Joel Bellamy’s different versions before analyzing who was telling the truth.
Shannon Quinn took a deep breath, recalling the feelings at the time of the incident, her heart still feeling a bit suffocated, "It’s all because of me. I kept pestering you to accompany me to travel. We went to Cinderfall Island, which isn’t very far from here. We had an accident while on the cruise. You put a life jacket on me but didn’t manage to cover yourself. Later, we were scattered by the waves. I was rescued, but there was no information about you."
Shannon Quinn said this as she felt around her pocket for her phone, pulling up the news from back then to show him, "This was the news from back then. During the search and rescue days, I waited by the shore every day, watching as bodies were retrieved from the water. I really feared you were among those cold corpses. After the search concluded, you were listed as missing..."
"I didn’t know whether you were still alive. After all, the probability of survival was extremely low..." Talking about this, it seemed Shannon Quinn was still frightened, her eyes growing misty.
Then she smiled at Landon Sutton, "But fortunately, heaven wasn’t cruel to me and the child; now you are sitting right in front of me, alive and well."
Landon Sutton was silent.
Shannon Quinn analyzed, "I don’t know what happened during your days of disappearance, but I suspect Joel Bellamy’s family rescued you. I don’t know why she wants to keep you here, maybe that little girl has feelings for you."
After finishing, Shannon Quinn looked seriously at Landon Sutton, seemingly trying to read his reaction.
Beneath his gaze, there was no fluctuation as he mentioned, "She said I have a childhood marriage promise to her."
Shannon Quinn chuckled, "Sure enough, she fancies you."
Landon Sutton did not say anything.
Shannon Quinn asked again, "Do you like her?"
Landon Sutton thought for a moment before answering, "Right now, I dare not prematurely conclude anything."
Shannon Quinn nodded in agreement, then with a feigned pout and dissatisfaction, she said, "I can give you time to recall past events, but during this period, there is one thing you must remember."
Landon Sutton looked puzzled, "Hmm?"
Shannon Quinn glanced around, ensuring Ronan Rhodes and the others were downstairs, and then said, "You must not sleep with her! Kissing, holding hands are off limits too!"
Landon Sutton furrowed his brows, seemingly not expecting Shannon Quinn to speak so bluntly as a girl.
And he didn’t know that this character of hers was cultivated by him.
Seeing his silence, Shannon Quinn frowned and pressed, "Already slept together?!"
Landon Sutton finally responded, "No."
Only then did Shannon Quinn breathe a sigh of relief, reminding him once again, "I have just this one request. You must remember, no matter how she tries to tempt you, don’t do these things."
Landon Sutton responded with a soft "Hmm," with a layer of perfunctory meaning, but Shannon Quinn trusted he wouldn’t engage in such acts.
Landon Sutton himself actually regarded Joel Bellamy as nothing more than a sister from the very beginning; he couldn’t engage in overly intimate actions with her.
