My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 366: I Will Marry No One but Him
CHAPTER 366: CHAPTER 366: I WILL MARRY NO ONE BUT HIM
Landon Sutton simply cast a glance at Shannon Quinn with lowered eyes; naturally, he wouldn’t lay a hand on her.
Shannon Quinn turned her head back to look at Landon Sutton and instead said to him, "Nate, you should go outside. I want to have a word with Miss Bellamy alone."
Landon Sutton nodded, walked to the door, shut it softly behind him, and waited outside.
Shannon Quinn glanced at Joel Bellamy’s wrist, and in a gentle tone, like an elder sister, spoke earnestly, "I’ve always thought of you as a kind and brave girl, and I quite admire you."
Joel Bellamy snorted disdainfully, "Do you think flattering me will make me let go? Dream on!"
Shannon Quinn: "Some things can’t be held on to just because you don’t want to let go."
Joel Bellamy: "Then how do you explain today? Didn’t he run back just for my sake?"
Shannon Quinn: "I was the one who asked him to come back."
Joel Bellamy was furious.
Shannon Quinn: "I think you saw today as well; my child with him, the child is almost six, about to enter primary school. The child is still young; I can’t let him grow up without a father."
Joel Bellamy: "That’s your problem."
Shannon Quinn: "Now, he’s already adapted to life with our family. He also said that he would come back with me after a while, but he still wanted to give you an explanation. Any more of your pointless struggles are futile; he doesn’t like you."
Joel Bellamy closed her eyes and was silent.
Shannon Quinn: "Your life is your own; threatening with death won’t change anything. He’s not coming back because he cares about you, but simply because he’s afraid that if something happens to you, his conscience won’t let him rest easy later."
Joel Bellamy opened her eyes and said, "Then even if I die, at least he’ll remember me for the rest of his life."
Shannon Quinn smiled, "And so what if he remembers you? At most, he’ll just harbor a bit of guilt towards you in his heart. But how will your parents and family feel? They’ll probably live in grief for a lifetime."
Joel Bellamy: "If you’re here to preach, then you can leave now."
Shannon Quinn stood up and looked at Joel Bellamy, "You’ve experienced very little; don’t cling to things you shouldn’t. Even if you stake your life, you won’t obtain the results you want. Don’t continue to be stubborn."
Joel Bellamy: "It’s none of your business; just get lost!"
Shannon Quinn didn’t say any more, stood up, and left the room.
Joel Bellamy lay on the bed, clearly aware that mere words would no longer keep Landon Sutton, but she had other means...
Love is inherently selfish; she was only pursuing her own love, and she felt she wasn’t wrong.
That night, Joel Bellamy’s parents hurried back. She was their only child, and upon hearing that she had attempted suicide by slitting her wrist, her mother came home and broke down in tears seeing her.
Landon Sutton stood silently to the side, feeling somewhat weary inside.
Whenever it was about Joel Bellamy, he seemed to be unable to deal with it with a clear mind, only feeling a blockage in his heart.
After Joel Bellamy’s parents returned, he went back to his own room. Holding his phone, he opened Shannon Quinn’s message page, yet didn’t know what to send her.
He felt utterly useless at the moment, incapable of doing anything right.
He just wanted to explain things clearly to Joel Bellamy quickly and leave this suffocating place.
In Joel Bellamy’s room, after her mother stabilized her emotions, she started to reprimand Joel, "I’ve warned you before, but you didn’t listen. What’s so good about Hayden Bellamy? How long have you known him to talk about marrying, and even hurting yourself. Aren’t you afraid of becoming a laughingstock?"
Joel Bellamy pouted, "I just want to marry him! Now that you and dad are back, pick a day quickly, let’s organize the wedding!"
Joel Bellamy’s mother glared at her, "Nonsense! You’re spoiled. We can let you fuss about other things, but marriage is no joke! It’s not up to you!"
Joel Bellamy whined, "Mom, I love him! I just want to marry him!"
Joel Bellamy’s mother: "His background is unknown, a few days ago your uncle introduced you to someone who’s working in a city with good conditions. If you marry into that family, you can live in a big city. Marrying Hayden Bellamy is useless. He’s a waste, can’t earn money, and we’d have to support him. I think we should let him leave so we won’t expect him to contribute financially."
Joel Bellamy promptly said, "He’s got plenty of money; I think he comes from a wealthy family. His friends kept calling him ’Master Nate’. He might be the young master of some rich family."
Joel Bellamy’s mother: "You’ve watched too many TV dramas. If he were a young master, he wouldn’t be interested in you. Better to give up soon; the day after tomorrow your uncle is introducing you to someone, you’d better tidy yourself up."
Joel Bellamy: "I’m not going! I just want to marry my Hayden!"
Joel Bellamy’s mother: "Stop messing around!"
Joel Bellamy: "I won’t marry anyone but him!"
...
Shannon Quinn sat on the balcony on the second floor, gazing out at the night sky filled with stars.
The village night was much quieter than the city.
You could hear the sound of night wind rustling the leaves and the chirping of insects in the grass below the trees.
When steps were heard from below, Shannon Quinn heard them clearly.
The footsteps approached gradually, unlike those of Ronan Rhodes and the others.
Shannon Quinn immediately thought of Landon Sutton, hurriedly pulling off the thin blanket draped over her, getting up to lean on the railing to see clearly the person standing below by the light bulb hanging on the wall.
It wasn’t the person she imagined.
"Still awake?" Seth Fairchild stood below, looking up and asking her.
Shannon Quinn wrinkled her brow, saying nothing, "Why are you here?"
Seth Fairchild smiled, "I’ve been around here all along."
Shannon Quinn: "Is there something you need?"
Seth Fairchild: "Care for a chat downstairs?"
Shannon Quinn scrutinized him for a moment, realizing Seth Fairchild had helped her quite a bit.
While not particularly likable, he wasn’t as bad as she had previously thought.
Shannon Quinn wrapped a shawl around herself and walked downstairs. Seth Fairchild turned and walked to the nearby pavilion, where Shannon Quinn followed and sat across from him.
Seth Fairchild: "How’s he doing?"
Shannon Quinn eyed Seth Fairchild for a moment with a smile, "Are you concerned about us, or here gathering some information?"
Seth Fairchild chuckled, "A bit of both, perhaps."
Shannon Quinn: "Then why stay around here? Shouldn’t you seize the opportunity to make a big fortune while Landon Sutton isn’t at the company?"
Seth Fairchild’s eyes were deep, his smile unreadable, "Now that Landon Sutton isn’t by your side, can I also take the opportunity?"
His tone sounded like a joke, but there was some seriousness in his eyes. Shannon Quinn didn’t take it seriously and replied with a light laugh, "I guess you won’t get the chance."
Seth Fairchild: "How can you know I don’t have a chance if you don’t even try? I don’t think I’m that much worse than him."
Shannon Quinn laughed lightly, "You probably haven’t seriously liked anyone, huh? Otherwise, you’d know that when you love someone, no one else can compare. Their strengths and flaws both become reasons why you love them more."
Seth Fairchild: "I’m not here late at night to find snacks of love to chew on."
