My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 371: He Is the Father of My Child
CHAPTER 371: CHAPTER 371: HE IS THE FATHER OF MY CHILD
Ronan Rhodes looked at the group of people in front of him and mumbled under his breath, "A bunch of savages."
A tall, strong man from amidst the relatives stepped forward and said, "You come to someone’s house causing trouble and call others savage?"
Ronan was about to retort when Shannon Quinn stopped him and stepped forward to try to explain, "We mean no harm. We are not from the village. I am here looking for my husband."
Before the group could question, Joel Bellamy jumped out and said, "Why are you looking for your husband in someone else’s house? She’s just a crazy woman!"
Shannon didn’t turn around to look at Joel, she continued, "My husband had an accident at sea more than half a month ago and went missing for a while. Later we learned someone had rescued him, but he lost his memory after being saved. He’s staying here now, and his name isn’t Hayden Bellamy, it’s Vincent Rhodes."
The crowd was baffled, and knowing everything, Joel panicked.
Shannon lightly touched her abdomen and said, "He’s the father of my child. I need to take him home."
"Don’t listen to her nonsense!" Joel suddenly rushed over and pushed Shannon hard from behind.
In front of Shannon were steps, only two low stairs, but Joel’s unanticipated push made Shannon lose her balance, stepping into air...
Ronan reacted to reach out as if to grab her, but Shannon had already fallen forward, heavily hitting the ground...
Joel pointed at her and said, "She’s just a widow! Lost her husband and went crazy, claiming every man she sees is her husband!"
"Sister-in-law!" Ronan dashed forward in an attempt to help Shannon off the ground.
But Shannon was in agonizing pain, clutching her belly, unable to speak.
The rain seemed to intensify, streaming over where Shannon lay, mixing with red blood...
The vivid red contrasted shockingly against her white dress...
Joel’s uncle, being a doctor, saw this, rushed over, and said to Ronan, "Take her inside first."
Ronan panicked, disregarded the earlier argument with this group of people, and quickly carried Shannon inside as told.
Shannon’s hand tightly held her belly, as if with a bit more effort, she could grasp onto what she desperately didn’t want to lose...
Joel didn’t expect this to happen either. When Ronan brushed past her and accidentally bumped her, she staggered a bit and stood dumbfounded at the door, quite at a loss.
Mrs. Bellamy walked over and quietly questioned her, "What is going on?! Hayden’s wife and child? You knew all along?"
Joel just shook her head in a fluster, "Don’t ask me anymore, I know nothing... I know nothing!"
Mrs. Bellamy was furious, "How did I end up raising a child like you! Their wife and child came knocking at the door and you still caused such a scene, now that I’ve already informed everyone in the village about the wedding, tell me how to clean this up?!"
Joel raised her head, confidently saying, "Clean this up how? I’ll go ahead with my wedding, what’s that to her? Moreover, she’s bleeding now, can she save the child? Without the child, won’t my brother and I be more together?"
Mr. Bellamy charged forward, raising his hand ready to slap Joel, but stopped abruptly, angrily glaring at his incompetent daughter, before heavily throwing the stick in his hand on the ground and stepping inside, "Shall we head to the town hospital? The boat is by the shore."
The uncle briefly checked Shannon, paused and said, "She needs to go to the hospital for a check-up, if it’s bad, surgery might be necessary."
Shannon grabbed the uncle’s sleeve with trembling hands, tears streaming down her face, her words weak and pleading, "Please, save my child..."
Even a big man like Ronan was driven to tears, suddenly remembering something, he shouted into the room, "Master Nate, your sister-in-law is like this, and you still refuse to come out?"
Hearing this name, Shannon cried even more bitterly, closing her eyes in sorrow, tears quickly streaming down her cheeks.
Mr. Bellamy prepared the boat, Ronan immediately carried Shannon onto it, speeding towards the town hospital as fast as possible.
Before she fainted from the pain, she still hoped Landon Sutton could come out to see her, but at the last moment before losing consciousness, he didn’t appear in her line of sight.
She felt so scared, as if she suddenly lost so many things that were extremely important to her...
Mrs. Bellamy wanted to release Landon Sutton, Joel rushed over to stop her, and only then did they notice the house was completely empty.
Joel frantically searched through the house, but with its simple furnishings, there was nowhere to hide anyone.
She ran to the open window, stretched her head out to look, but there was no sign of anyone...
Joel squatted on the ground, covered her face, and cried bitterly.
Mrs. Bellamy shook her head helplessly, backed out, and unpleasantly explained to the relatives, trying to sort out this farcical uproar.
The rain got heavier, washing over this small island, as if trying to take something away from it.
Simon Rhodes heard about this news the morning after the incident, he was bringing breakfast, waiting at Susan Wilde’s shop for her to start work.
Upon hearing Shannon’s accident, he handed the food to the staff at the shop, quickly contacted his assistant to buy a flight ticket, and rushed to the airport.
Susan Wilde arrives punctually for work each day, instinctively looked over to where Simon usually sits as she walked into the shop.
Feeling somewhat surprised not seeing him, because these days he seldom missed, like a necessary daily routine, he would bring her different breakfasts to the shop, personally handing them to her upon her arrival.
Conversations wouldn’t last long, since she usually didn’t chat with him at her workplace, he also sensibly, after handing breakfast to her, asked a couple of inconsequential questions before leaving her shop, heading to his company.
"Boss, looking for someone?" the receptionist teased Susan Wilde with a grin.
Susan withdrew her gaze, looking at the receptionist girl for a moment.
The receptionist girl bent down, took out what Simon Rhodes instructed her to set aside, and waved it in front of Susan Wilde, "Boss, you haven’t had breakfast, right?"
Susan immediately recognized the packaging, identical to the ones Simon Rhodes had used before.
The breakfast wasn’t store-bought; Simon Rhodes prepared it himself, the bag simply an ordinary kraft paper bag, devoid of any logo, consistent every day.
Susan walked over and took the item from the receptionist girl, asking her, "Where is he?"
The girl replied, "Left five minutes ago, received a call and immediately left, probably something urgent."
Susan nodded thoughtfully, recalling the text she sent Shannon last night, which still hadn’t been replied to this morning.
Could it be that the so-called urgent matter is related to Shannon Quinn?
