My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 393: I Started the Fight
CHAPTER 393: CHAPTER 393: I STARTED THE FIGHT
Bar Street.
Three police cars parked by the roadside, surrounded by a crowd.
Inside the circle formed by the onlookers, several young guys were groaning on the ground.
Two were seriously injured and taken away by ambulance, while the rest were put into police cars.
This group included Landon Sutton.
At the police station.
A police officer in his forties led Landon Sutton inside, smiling as he said, "This bunch of guys isn’t here for the first time. They’re brawling on Bar Street every few days. I didn’t expect them to provoke Young Master Rhodes this time, it’s like looking for trouble."
Landon Sutton walked briskly ahead with a stern face.
The officer quickly invited, "Young Master, this room here, let’s just go through the procedures and make a statement, then you can leave."
Landon Sutton said, "I was the one who hit first."
The officer was taken aback and quickly said, "They must’ve provoked you somehow, just explain the situation briefly."
Landon Sutton sat down on a chair, and the officer sat opposite him, taking out a pen and paper, "You may begin, Young Master."
Landon Sutton: "I was in a bad mood and needed to vent."
The officer was unsure how to record that and asked, "Is that what they told you?"
Landon Sutton looked seriously at the officer and reiterated, "I was in a bad mood and needed to vent."
The officer said quietly, "They must’ve made you uncomfortable somehow; you wouldn’t hit them without a reason, right?"
Landon Sutton: "No, I was sitting at the table next to them and heard their conversation."
The officer quickly asked, "What were they talking about?"
Landon Sutton: "I just heard that one guy had a wife at home but still came to the bar to pick up girls, so I went over and beat him up."
The officer frowned, his mouth twitching, and then admiringly said, "He deserved it; handling people like him is necessary. You did well, Young Master."
Landon Sutton: "I deliberately caused trouble."
The officer: "Oh no, Young Master, you were being honorable."
Landon Sutton: "Handcuff me."
The officer panicked: "Young Master, what are you saying? I understand the cause now. I see you’ve got some minor injuries; I’ll have Lee take you to the hospital."
Landon Sutton remained seated, saying, "Call someone to get me out from the police station."
The officer was puzzled by Landon Sutton’s insistence: "No need, for such a minor issue, there’s no need to disturb your family. I’ll arrange a car to take you to the hospital."
Landon Sutton: "Just make the call!"
The officer hesitated for two seconds, then cautiously asked, "Should I call the old master or the eldest young master?"
Landon Sutton didn’t answer but instead took out his phone from his pocket, found a number, and handed it to the officer, saying, "Call her."
The officer looked at it and asked, "What should I say?"
Landon Sutton: "Just tell the truth."
The officer hesitantly dialed that number on the landline, watching Sutton’s expression as he spoke.
It was past nine at night.
Shannon Quinn was alone at her desk, modifying a design draft.
She was somewhat drowsy, but wanted to finish a satisfactory work within the limited time, so she pressed on without sleep.
The phone charging by her bed rang; she glanced at it, put down her pencil, crawled over barefoot, sat on the bedside, unplugged the phone, and saw it was an unfamiliar landline number.
Curiously, she answered: "Hello?"
A deep male voice came from the other end: "Hello, this is Briergate Police Station. Do you know a Mr. Vincent Rhodes?"
Hearing the name, Shannon Quinn was somewhat puzzled and surprised, especially as the call was from a police station, she frowned thoughtfully and nodded: "I know him. What happened?"
The line was on speakerphone, and the officer glanced at Landon Sutton before answering, "Oh, there’s a bit of an incident. We need to investigate; could you please come over?"
After the officer spoke, Landon Sutton pointed to a small cut on his forehead less than two centimeters long and rolled up his sleeve to show the officer the abrasions on his forearm. The officer understood immediately and said, "He’s sustained a few injuries, so we’d appreciate your cooperation. Can you come over now?"
Shannon Quinn had already moved to the wardrobe, her voice sounding a bit anxious, "Okay, I’ll be right there. Is he seriously hurt? If so, please send him to the hospital first."
Officer: "Please come over first."
Shannon Quinn hastily found a set of clothes, changed out of her pajamas, took her car keys, anxious yet trying not to wake up the sleeping Catherine Yardley.
She didn’t dare turn on the lights, stealthily tiptoeing to the entryway to put on her shoes, minimizing the sound of closing the door.
Outside her room, she briskly jogged to the elevator doors, feeling impatient even during the few seconds it took for the elevator to descend.
The last time, she heard Simon Rhodes mention his fight outside; now, just a few days later, he’s causing trouble again?
If she hadn’t heard he was injured, she might have, due to their current somewhat awkward relationship, called Simon Rhodes to deal with it.
At the police station, the officer only noticed Landon Sutton’s subtle smile pulled at the corner of his mouth when he hung up the phone.
The officer seemed to have realized something and asked, "Is she a respected lady?"
Landon Sutton immediately erased his smile: "Not your concern. When she arrives, only allow her to come in and find me."
Officer: "Understood. I’ll have someone prepare some tea for you; please wait here."
Shannon Quinn arrived at the police station, surprised to find it bustling even late at night.
Before she could inquire, a young lady approached her: "Miss Quinn, correct? Follow me."
Shannon Quinn nodded, following the young lady and asking, "Is Vincent Rhodes seriously injured?"
The young lady shook her head: "I don’t know. I only received instructions to welcome you. It shouldn’t be serious; if it were, he’d have been taken to the hospital first."
As her words ended, the young lady stopped in front of a door, knocking lightly on it.
A middle-aged man in his forties immediately opened the door, smiling warmly at Shannon Quinn: "Young Madam, you’re here? Please come in."
Shannon Quinn seemed a bit unfamiliar with the term Young Madam and didn’t expect the staff to be so courteous, unlike what she imagined for causing trouble.
Inside, she saw a man sitting with his back to her at a desk, not even turning to look at her.
Just as she was about to ask the officer about the situation, the officer said, "I have a few more punks to handle, so you two chat first. The tea is ready; just call Lewis to refill if needed."
With that, the old officer left with the young lady, even closing the door behind them as they left.
Shannon Quinn didn’t know what this scene was about, standing by the door observing Landon Sutton’s silhouette for several seconds.
He was patient, not moving, not even glancing at her.
