My Mysterious Hidden Husband
Chapter 394: Falling in Love with Her Again
CHAPTER 394: CHAPTER 394: FALLING IN LOVE WITH HER AGAIN
Shannon Quinn walked around to him and sat down across from him.
Neither of them spoke, just looking at each other, both faces expressionless.
Shannon Quinn felt a bit upset inside. She hurried here, so worried about him, but when she arrived, he showed her a bad face.
"You don’t seem too hurt. With your status as Young Master Rhodes, swaggering out of here shouldn’t be a problem. If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back first."
Landon Sutton saw her actually stand up and frowned, saying, "There were more than twenty of them, and just me alone."
Listening to his somewhat grievance-like tone, Shannon Quinn didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, stood up and said to him, "I see you don’t have any other abilities now, but you’re quite good at causing trouble."
Landon Sutton said nothing.
Shannon Quinn: "Or are you trying to show off to me that more than twenty people couldn’t do anything to you?"
Landon Sutton pushed the chair out a bit, bent down, and lifted his pant leg to show the cut on his calf, saying, "I can’t walk."
Shannon Quinn looked at the bloody wound and frowned.
The cut was quite deep, with blood flowing down the leg from the wound, seemingly slashed by a sharp knife, looking quite painful.
Shannon Quinn felt a bit of heartache but wasn’t willing to show it: "Then just let them take you to the hospital."
Landon Sutton covered the wound by putting the pant leg down again, speaking about poverty with justification: "I don’t have money."
Shannon Quinn: "I heard from Ronan Rhodes that you can’t remember anything, but when it’s said that you’re Young Master Rhodes with a billion-dollar asset and given a bank card to spend, you accepted rather quickly."
Landon Sutton: "Who would have a grudge against money?"
Shannon Quinn didn’t know how to refute.
Just tidying up his pant leg, his hand was stained with blood.
With thick black suit pants, it wasn’t visible until knowing he was injured, but noticed that the color at the pant leg of the calf was noticeably deeper.
He lowered his head to look at the blood from his wound, saying: "Excessive blood loss leads to death."
Shannon Quinn held back a belly full of anger but couldn’t bear to leave him without care, bent down to grab his arm and propped it on her shoulder, pulling him forcefully without much gentleness.
He didn’t budge.
Eventually, it was Landon Sutton who supported himself up from the chair, leaning on her shoulder for support to walk forward.
Shannon Quinn opened the door while saying: "Why didn’t they beat you to death?!"
Landon Sutton said nothing, but as she busily supported him forward, he smiled unnoticed above her head.
He hadn’t regained the memory she once recounted to him, but he discovered she had the power to make him fall in love with her all over again.
In the time apart from her, he thought about her every day.
Every time he thought of her, he forced himself to recall the scene he saw in the pavilion, to remind himself she wasn’t a simple woman.
Self-admonition worked a bit at first, but the longer it lasted, the more he realized he just missed her.
Day in and day out, thinking of her incessantly.
Spending most of his time idly, focusing mainly on her affairs.
After her miscarriage, she rarely went out, he waited at the child’s school but didn’t encounter her.
Then he went to her front door, fortunately, sometimes managed to see her sunbathing in the backyard from the roadside fence.
He even thought, even if she was once a promiscuous woman, he would try to change her past and have her devoted only to him in the future.
But considering his behavior these days, he didn’t know how to reach out to her.
Frustrated, he went drinking at a bar, leading to this incident.
Calling her to come over was a spur-of-the-moment decision in the police car.
With police assistance at her work, Shannon Quinn successfully got him to the car.
She opened the back door of the car, intending to shove him in, but he said: "I get dizzy in the back, want to sit in front."
Shannon Quinn rolled her eyes at him: "How about the driver’s seat?!"
Though she said this, she still closed the back door and opened the passenger side, shoving him into the car.
Landon Sutton looked at her frustrated yet helpless look and found it increasingly adorable.
At the end of the day, she was worried about him, otherwise she wouldn’t have rushed over in the middle of the night.
Arriving at the hospital, medical staff brought a wheelchair to take him for treatment.
He leisurely sat in the wheelchair, watching her running back and forth to find doctors and nurses.
At first, he found her worried expression quite adorable, but slowly it shifted to feeling sorry for her.
Because she just had a miscarriage, less than a month ago.
He should have been the one carefully taking care of her, right?
But he couldn’t be with her when she needed him most, even spoke disrespectful words to her.
No wonder, back then, she traveled all the way to the island wanting to find him, yet told him if he couldn’t recover his memory, he shouldn’t bother seeking her anymore.
He seriously thought about the loss during these days.
Though he had no memory, no deep emotions for the child, even held suspicion against her those days.
But later, he thought the child was also his flesh and blood, five or six months old.
She went looking for him with her large belly in an unfavorable environment intending to return together.
Yet unexpectedly, she ended up losing the child.
Such pain surely is unbearable for any mother.
Yet during that time, he wasn’t by her side for even a moment...
As the doctor wheeled him into surgery, with the operating room door closing, he looked back at her.
The running earlier left her out of breath, watching him being wheeled into surgery, the worry in her eyes stung his heart.
More painful than the deep cut on his leg...
Shannon Quinn waited outside the operating room, knowing there was no life-threatening danger but still imagining numerous chaotic thoughts.
She didn’t know how much time had passed, only that she started feeling sleepy.
Just about to be overtaken by drowsiness while sitting in the chair, he was wheeled out of surgery.
The surgery was only locally anesthetized, as he came out, he was awake.
Shannon Quinn joined him as they entered the elevator from the surgical bed, asking the accompanying doctor: "Is it serious?"
Doctor: "The wound is fairly deep, but didn’t reach the bone, stitched seven times, it’s recommended to stay hospitalized for a few days to avoid infection."
Shannon Quinn nodded and went to the hospital room they arranged.
After setting up the IV for Landon Sutton and briefing Shannon Quinn about precautions and dietary suggestions, the doctor left the room.
Shannon Quinn glanced at him lying on the bed, after their eyes met, she immediately rolled her eyes and sat on the chair beside the bed.
Landon Sutton kept looking at her and, after a while, said: "It’s getting late, you should head back."
Shannon Quinn: "Oh, found a new girl outside to come care for you at the hospital? I’m to leave after paying?"
