CHAPTER 432: CHAPTER 432: MY BOYFRIEND

Simon Rhodes casually asked, "Who is that person?"

Susan Wilde replied, "A regular guest who lives next door. They’ll bring the clothes over soon."

Simon Rhodes asked again, "And who is General?"

Susan Wilde paused before answering, "His dog."

Simon Rhodes said, "You know quite a lot."

Susan Wilde silently took away the cold coffee in front of him and examined him, asking, "Are you jealous?"

Simon Rhodes replied, "No."

Susan Wilde asked, "Then why are you wearing that long face?"

Simon Rhodes said, "My face is just like this."

Susan Wilde stared at him for a couple of seconds, then turned to tidy up the cups. When she re-emerged, she asked him, "Have you had lunch yet? Are you hungry?"

"Not very hungry."

"I’ve just baked some cookies. Why don’t you have some as a snack?"

"When are you going back with me?"

Susan Wilde fell silent for a moment. Simon assumed she was still unwilling to go back with him and said, "Or do you want to stay here? Anyway, wherever you are, that’s where I’ll be."

Susan Wilde smiled. What she hoped for was naturally to stay here with him, away from the chaos, living a peaceful life. But she knew such thoughts were unrealistic.

"It’ll be another couple of days. The landlady is out, and I have to wait for her to return."

Upon hearing her response, Simon felt a weight lifted off his chest.

On his way here, he kept worrying about what to do if she was unwilling to return with him.

The man returned with a paper bag and handed it to Susan Wilde: "See if you can wear these. They were just purchased yesterday, I washed them but haven’t worn them yet."

Susan Wilde smiled and reached out to accept it: "Thank you so much."

The man glanced at Simon Rhodes and then said to Susan Wilde, "Why are you polite with me? Well, I’ve got to go now; I’m taking General for his vaccination."

"Okay, take care."

After seeing the man off, Susan Wilde glanced inside the bag, finding the clothes were sporty casual styles—a white T-shirt and a pair of light gray casual pants.

Susan Wilde handed the bag to Simon Rhodes and pointed to the stairs next to him, saying, "You should go upstairs and take a shower, and change into these clothes."

Simon Rhodes frowned, somewhat disdainful of the bag, to which Susan Wilde said, "He did say they were newly purchased and unworn."

Considering he had just been discharged from the hospital and was already feeling a bit lightheaded, wearing damp clothes was terribly uncomfortable. Otherwise, he wouldn’t dream of wearing another man’s clothes.

With a reluctant expression, he reached out to take the bag and then asked Susan Wilde, "Why did you refer to me as your friend earlier instead of boyfriend?"

Susan Wilde was taken aback, sensing he was being particularly petty today: "I just said it casually. If I said boyfriend, wouldn’t I have had to explain for ages?"

Simon Rhodes snorted and, with clothes in hand, headed toward the stairs, saying, "I bet if I found you any later, you’d already have a kid calling me uncle."

Susan Wilde felt both amused and intrigued; she had never seen Simon in such a jealous state.

Upstairs was her room. Although the surroundings were unfamiliar, her essence lingered.

The room was tidily kept, as always, with an indefinable faint fragrance in the air—just the right strength, so fresh.

Instead of immediately going into the bathroom for a shower, he first took a look around the room.

Pink and white hues alternated, clearly a young girl’s room.

A few basic magazines and the pair of glasses she accompanied him to get were placed by the bedside. She would wear them when reading at night.

There were not many belongings that were theirs because she didn’t take anything when she left, not even the ring.

Standing in the shower, as the hot water poured over him, he immediately felt much better.

Halfway through washing, he suddenly realized he didn’t have any undergarments.

Just when he was fretting, he heard noises outside the door. Soon, the bathroom door was knocked upon, and Susan Wilde’s voice followed: "Are you done washing yet?"

"What’s wrong?"

Susan Wilde cleared her throat and said, "...I just bought you a pair of underwear. Check if the size fits."

Simon Rhodes opened the door, completely unabashed, asking her, "Are you the worm inside my stomach?"

Susan Wilde dared not glance around and maintained composure, handing him the bag, saying, "Check the size. If it doesn’t fit, I’ll return it for an exchange."

He stood at the doorway, opened the bag, looked it over, then smiled at her, asking, "Did you secretly check out my underwear?"

Susan Wilde blushed and shot him a look, "I don’t have that hobby. I just mentioned your approximate height and weight to the store owner, and she recommended these. Hurry up downstairs once you’re done, I ordered takeout for you."

Saying this, Susan Wilde closed the door and hurriedly went downstairs.

Simon Rhodes couldn’t help but marvel inwardly at how nice it was to have a thoughtful woman.

Without him needing to say a word, she already knew what he wanted, and even the takeout she ordered downstairs was his favorite dish. She even brewed ginger tea to ward off the cold.

Perhaps because of the rain, there weren’t many guests—only a few sporadic regulars.

Anyone who entered would chat with Susan Wilde for a while.

Susan Wilde’s presence mostly attracted the females, quelling Simon’s jealousy gradually.

He sat in the spot closest to her, petting the cat while watching her busy herself.

Suddenly, a girl fixed her gaze on him and asked Susan Wilde, "Sis, who is that handsome guy? Is he a regular here too?"

Susan Wilde turned to glance at him and laughed while introducing, "He’s my boyfriend."

The girl expressed surprise before revealing a hint of disappointment, whispering, "I thought about hitting on him. Turns out all the handsome young men are taken. But you two look so good together."

Perhaps after hearing too many opposition voices, the casually spoken "you two look good together" by the girl made Susan Wilde pause and then smile, saying, "Thank you."

The girl curiously asked again, "How did you two meet? Did he come here often to drink coffee and then manage to woo you?"

Susan Wilde looked in Simon Rhodes’s direction and teased, "Do you think he came to woo the cat or me?"

"Hehe, pretending to be aloof and playing hard to get, huh? Obviously an arrogant schemer type."

Susan Wilde smiled lightly without explaining; Simon Rhodes wasn’t any schemer type. He was direct, proactive, and brazen when he pursued her.

Before she knew him, just seeing his appearance, she felt he had a cold personality, even if he was gentle and courteous to everyone. Yet it came with a sense of detachment.

After getting to know him more, the feeling gradually faded. In his daily life, he had many little emotions, sometimes behaving like a child, though most of the time, he played the role of a father figure.
