CHAPTER 440: CHAPTER 440: CHILDISH GHOST

Jasper Sutton chuckled wryly and said, "Women are like needles at the bottom of the sea, not so easy to pursue."

Aidan Lockwood: "You never mentioned this to me before. Which girl? Do I know her?"

Jasper Sutton: "Not even close yet, so I won’t say much. If I get married, you’ll definitely be invited to the wedding banquet."

Shannon Quinn: "Let’s see whose wedding banquet I attend first. Also, Mr. Sutton, if you like someone, you should be a bit more proactive. What’s with this secret crush? If you are direct, she might just agree to date you."

Jasper Sutton just smiled without speaking, seemingly having reservations and unspoken concerns.

When they arrived at the airport of their destination, it was just after ten in the morning.

They still needed to take a taxi to the pier and then take a cruise before reaching the destination of their trip.

They didn’t eat at the airport, so they had their meal on the cruise.

There were two adjacent rooms; Shannon Quinn and the others were in one, while Ronan Rhodes and Charlotte Sheffield were in the room next door.

As they were about to disembark, Ronan Rhodes and Charlotte Sheffield packed their things early, chatted and enjoyed the breeze in the corridor by the ship’s side—when disembarking, they just left.

Both groups had booked the same hotel, but since Ronan Rhodes and Charlotte Sheffield arrived at the hotel first, they didn’t get to meet Shannon Quinn and her group.

"How are you? Tired?" When they got to the hotel room, Ronan Rhodes was packing and asked with concern.

"We were either sitting in the car or the boat all the way, barely walked any steps, not tired."

Ronan Rhodes glanced out the window and said, "Even if you’re not tired, stay in the room. It’s too hot now, and I don’t want you to get heatstroke. Take a shower and nap; we’ll head to the beach in the evening."

"What about you?"

"I’m going to the supermarket to check out some things."

Charlotte Sheffield pouted and asked him, "Buying cigarettes?"

Ronan Rhodes turned to her, chuckled, and said, "Also some snacks and stuff. What would you like to eat?"

Charlotte Sheffield: "Smoke less."

Ronan Rhodes: "I used to have such a strong addiction, it’s not easy to quit quickly, but I’m slowly cutting back."

Charlotte Sheffield nodded, "Okay, bring me a bottle of milk tea, I’ll go take a shower now."

Ronan Rhodes: "Anything else you need to buy?"

"No, it’s downstairs and not far. So if I want something later, I can just go and get it."

"Alright, I placed your clothes on the sofa and toiletries in the bathroom."

"Okay already, I can find things myself. You go ahead."

The bathroom had a big scenic glass wall; lying in the bathtub, you could see the vast blue sea.

This was Charlotte Sheffield’s first time at the seaside; she always longed to come but never had the opportunity.

Whether it was the scenery or the people around her, it made her feel unprecedented relaxation.

Even the dark memories she had been carrying seemed to gradually be let go.

In the evening, Shannon Quinn and her companions spontaneously organized a barbecue party.

Talented colleagues played guitar, sang, danced, drank, and chatted, creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere.

Shannon Quinn was on a video call with Landon Sutton, telling him how lively and fun it was here, while on his side, the background was their home’s study, likely still working.

"Is Leo asleep?"

On the other end, Landon Sutton said, "Son this, son that, am I not worthy of your concern?"

Shannon Quinn chuckled and teased, "Do you, an adult, still need my concern? I was worried about you mistreating Leo since Mom and I aren’t there."

Landon Sutton immediately quipped, "Yeah, I’ve not fed him anything today."

Shannon Quinn frowned, "Really? The kid’s growing!"

Landon Sutton grumpily said, "It’s all thanks to you, the good mom. You secretly gave him pocket money when you left. When I picked him up from school this afternoon, he had a burger in one hand, a soda in the other, and a chicken roll hidden in his backpack. You said he hasn’t eaten at home yet."

Hearing this, Shannon Quinn smiled and explained sheepishly, "I didn’t want him to feel embarrassed asking you for money."

Landon Sutton: "Well, don’t underestimate him. Don’t forget that little guy made a fortune selling your WeChat to me back then; he’s much cleverer than you, probably has more secret stashes."

Shannon Quinn: "So, is Leo asleep now? You should call him, I need to talk; skipping meals isn’t good. This kid’s really something else."

Landon Sutton seemed unbothered, saying, "He’s grown, he won’t starve. Your husband is busy and hasn’t had a proper meal today, but you don’t seem worried."

Shannon Quinn giggled, then pretended to be serious and said, "None of you let me feel at ease, even when I’m out having fun."

Landon Sutton eyed her in the video and suddenly asked, "Have you been drinking?"

Shannon Quinn was momentarily stunned but quickly said, "No."

Landon Sutton: "Face all red and still saying no."

Shannon Quinn: "It’s the lighting. Quickly call Leo so I can talk to him."

Landon Sutton: "He’s probably dreaming by now."

Shannon Quinn: "Asleep? You should check on him."

Landon Sutton grumpily said, "Should I wake him up and tell him a bedtime story?"

Shannon Quinn: "Leo likes kicking blankets, and it’s cold now, keep an eye on him, or he’ll catch a cold."

Landon Sutton stood up reluctantly; the video showed the camera switch from front to rear-facing, then wavering as it reached Leo’s room.

The door gently opened, and under the bedside lamp’s glow, you could see the child fast asleep.

Landon Sutton even moved the lens from top to bottom so she could confirm Leo’s blanket was snugly tucked.

Shannon Quinn grinned contentedly, and in a low voice said, "Alright, leave now, don’t wake him."

Landon Sutton exited the room, hearing Shannon Quinn continue, "You get some rest earlier too, don’t work too hard."

Landon Sutton switched the camera back to the front and said, "Drink less, just for happiness, don’t drink too much."

Shannon Quinn laughed, "Don’t worry, I know my limits, just had two beers, not drinking more."

Landon Sutton nodded, "Yeah, come back early."

Shannon Quinn mumbled, "I just got here, and you’re asking me to return early, there’s still two days. Don’t miss me too much, goodnight, hubby."

"Wait."

Shannon Quinn, puzzled, soon saw a large side profile on the screen and then heard, "Give me a kiss."

Realizing what he meant, Shannon Quinn scoffed, "Childish!"

"Come on."

Shannon Quinn, lips pressed into a smile, slightly puckered her lips near the camera, making a "mua~" sound.

Cute.

Landon Sutton smiled contentedly, then turned the other cheek, gesturing to his cheek, "And this side."

Shannon Quinn glared at him, "Enough already, finish work and sleep."

But he insisted, pointing at his cheek, "This side, hurry."

Shannon Quinn mumbled "Childish fool," then made another "mua" sound.
