CHAPTER 455: CHAPTER 455: IT’S OVER

At around two in the morning, Rowan Alder came back reeking of smoke and alcohol.

Shawn Rhodes closed the bedroom door carefully to avoid waking the sleeping child.

Rowan Alder glanced at Shawn Rhodes who stepped out of the room, said nothing, kicked off her high heels, and put on the slippers left by the door.

Shawn Rhodes didn’t ask where she’d been or why she’d been drinking again.

He simply sat on the sofa, lit a cigarette, and as soon as she was ready and came in, he said casually, "I’m planning to send the child over to mom’s for a while."

Rowan Alder sneered, "A child born to a lowly woman like me, she probably despises him terribly."

Hearing her say such things, Shawn Rhodes didn’t comfort her anymore, puffing out smoke he then said, "If you keep going like this, no one can save you."

Rowan Alder found it ridiculous, walked up to him, and stood there questioning him, "Do you think I want this? You think I want to live like this? I gave you everything, my best years of youth, and what did I get in return?!"

"What about your promises? The promises you swore you’d marry me?"

Shawn Rhodes: "Look at what you have become now! My mom doesn’t agree for me to marry you, you should’ve strived for her approval instead of indulging yourself like this!"

Rowan Alder sneered, "So it’s all my fault, huh? My fault for not being liked by your mom, oh wait, my fault for not being constantly liked by you. Your mom not agreeing to marry me has become your excuse shield. Ever since you met Skylar Vance, I bet you didn’t want to marry me anymore, right?"

Hearing Rowan Alder bring up Skylar Vance again, Shawn Rhodes was truly annoyed, "If you keep clinging to the past, then there’s no need for us to go on."

Rowan Alder: "Don’t make it sound so noble, making it seem like it’s all because of me that this relationship has come to this. Don’t act like you are without fault. From what I see, you haven’t even tried to keep it going."

Shawn Rhodes no longer tried to coax her with kind words, because he knew it would only make her more demanding.

He didn’t explain anything anymore, because those words he had said countless times.

He just got up and went back to the room, took out a bank card and handed it to her, "There’s roughly ten million in the card, you know the password, enough for you to live worry-free for the rest of your life. I’ll transfer the deed of this house to your name in the next few days; you can choose to stay or sell it. We’re done here, everyone is exhausted, get some rest."

Rowan Alder stared at the bank card placed on the coffee table, couldn’t believe these words came out from his mouth.

Shawn Rhodes had made up his mind to leave, and seemed to have no nostalgia.

Back in the room he picked up the sleeping child, grabbed the coat on the sofa and the car keys from the coffee table.

Seeing him walk towards the entrance, Rowan Alder snapped back to reality, hurriedly chased after him, fiercely grabbing his arm, not minding he was holding the child: "What do you mean? Shawn Rhodes, make it clear!"

Shawn Rhodes frowned: "I’ve made it clear enough, we’re finished."

Rowan Alder: "Finished? After all I’ve done for you, you end it with just a word? Shawn Rhodes, do you really think I’m stupid?"

Shawn Rhodes: "The child is asleep, I don’t want to argue with you. Our current situation really does not suit being together anymore. You’re not the Rowan Alder I once knew. Carrying on like this is no good for you, me, or the child. Separating is the best choice. If you think the money won’t be enough, we can discuss it another day, and if there’s any other conditions you can suggest them too, as long as I can do it, I’ll try my best to meet your demands."

Seeing him reaching out to open the door to leave, Rowan Alder fiercely grabbed his hand: "I won’t let you go! You’re not allowed to leave! If you leave, I’ll have nothing left. All my years of hard work will be wasted!"

Shawn Rhodes frowned at her slightly agitated emotions, recalling their sweet past, still felt some regret and reluctance.

Because of her forceful tugging, the child let out a loud cry.

Fearing she’d hurt the child, Shawn Rhodes instinctively pushed Rowan Alder away forcefully.

Watching her fall to the ground, Shawn Rhodes looked at her with a heavy face, didn’t wait for her to stand up, reached out to close the door, and left holding the loudly crying child.

When Rowan Alder chased out, the elevator had already closed and was descending.
