CHAPTER 93: CHAPTER 93: OUT FOR A NIGHT ON THE TOWN

At the KTV, Erin Bishop and Shannon Quinn were among the first to arrive, as the private room had been booked in advance.

Only a few of Ronan Rhodes’s buddies were invited; Erin hadn’t called her friends. After all, it was just for show, no need to alarm everyone.

While Ronan and the others hadn’t arrived, Erin and Shannon were having a great time singing alone in the room.

"Not bad, Shannon, you sing quite well. We could form a duo and make our debut."

After singing a few songs, Shannon seemed to have released her emotions, shamelessly grinning and saying, "Yeah, with our looks, it’d be a waste not to debut."

"Look at you, all smug! Come on, pick another song, it’s rare to sing so freely."

Just as Erin finished speaking, she quickly put down the microphone: "Wait, wait, wait, turn off the music first, Ronan’s calling."

Shannon turned off the sound, and Erin answered the phone, putting it on speaker: "Hey, where are you?"

"Downstairs. I’m going to buy a pack of cigarettes first."

"Is your brother coming too?"

"My brother still has a meeting. That woman seems to be in the styling room doing something for ages. Women are such a hassle. I’ll call him again to hurry him up. Where are you guys?"

"Shannon and I have been here for a while, singing for ages. Hurry up and get here."

"I thought you two were also putting on makeup or something and was about to call you. Alright, I’m coming up now."

Erin hung up the phone, still looking a bit nervous, wiping her sweaty palms on her dress: "They’re coming, Shannon, do you think I’m crazy to come up with such a stupid idea?"

"You’re just realizing it’s a stupid idea now?"

"Even a bad idea is better than no idea. I need to go to the bathroom first, come with me."

Shannon stood in the hallway outside the bathroom waiting for Erin, scrolling through her phone out of boredom, and saw the studio’s group chat talking about Lynn Kendall. They said Lynn went to the studio in the afternoon to get familiar, and might start work tomorrow.

There was no bad talk about Lynn, just speculation about what kind of person she was. Shannon just took a look and didn’t comment.

She heard the sound of high heels and thought Erin was out, but when she looked up, she saw an unexpected woman.

June Yardley was also a bit surprised to see Shannon, then she smiled and glanced at Shannon’s stomach, sarcastically saying, "Still out messing around?"

Shannon smiled and replied, "Can’t compare to you, Miss Yardley."

June stood by the sink washing her hands, looking at Shannon through the mirror with a sinister smile on her red lips, pointedly saying, "You’d better not let me catch anything on you, or... you’ll never recover."

Shannon wasn’t sure if June was referring to the pregnancy, but hearing June say that clearly indicated she wasn’t sure about it yet. Nonetheless, Shannon was a bit scared; what would June do if she confirmed the news?

Feeling guilty inside, Shannon maintained a calm exterior: "A clear conscience has no fear of ghosts knocking on the door."

June pulled out a tissue to dry her hands, tossed it in the trash, and as she walked past Shannon, she almost gritted through her teeth, "One day, you’ll taste the humiliation and torment I suffered!"

Listening to the sound of high heels fading away, Shannon turned to watch June’s alluring back, puzzled by what she meant with that last sentence.

Clearly, June had set her up, causing an improper relationship with Landon Sutton, and besides verbally humiliating June, Shannon hadn’t done anything else.

Could it be that June was still holding a grudge for being dumped by Simon, and was ultimately venting her anger on Shannon?

Shannon didn’t dwell on it, just feeling that as long as she didn’t provoke her, nothing should happen.

In a law-abiding society, could she really commit murder or arson?

Erin came out of the bathroom, and if it wasn’t for the makeup on her face, she might have splashed cold water on her face to calm herself.

As the two walked back to the private room, they ran into Ronan and his crew.

Ronan hadn’t brought many people, just five or six brothers.

Seeing Shannon, a guy with yellow hair said, "Ronan, is it this young lady? I’ve seen you two together before. Never thought our Ronan would settle down with such a pretty young girl and turn over a new leaf."

After speaking, he turned to the other guys and said, "What are you staring at? Call her sister-in-law!"

They all said in unison, "Hello, sister-in-law!"

Shannon awkwardly waved her hand, just about to explain, when Ronan slapped the yellow-haired guy on the head and pulled Erin close, saying, "What nonsense! This is your sister-in-law!"

Erin clearly didn’t expect Ronan to be so proactive. Being held by him, she felt uncomfortable at first, but with the brothers complimenting her, she just awkwardly smiled.

Initially worried that Ronan might not play the role well, she now saw he was actually quite natural, whereas Erin was having some trouble adapting.

"Let’s sit inside and talk," Shannon suggested.

As they entered the room, the guys naturally began to light up cigarettes. Considering Shannon’s pregnancy, but unable to disclose it, Erin said, "Sorry, guys, I don’t really like the smell of smoke."

Ronan hesitated while lighting up and rolled his eyes at Erin, as if blaming her for being fussy, but he put the cigarette down and said to the others, "Listen to your sister-in-law, no smoking."

Two guys who had already lit up quickly snuffed out their cigarettes in the ashtrays.

Shannon secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thinking inwardly that since Ronan seemed to have a good relationship with Landon, she thought Landon might also come.

"Besides smoking, feel free to drink; it’s on your brother Ronan," Erin generously offered.

The brothers were overjoyed, exclaiming, "Still, sister-in-law is generous!"

"It’s rare for Brother Ronan to treat, so let’s drink to our hearts’ content today!"

Ronan couldn’t help but glare at Erin again, while Erin laughed smugly.

They all seemed pretty familiar with each other, and since they were of similar age, it was easy to get along.

Initially thinking Ronan might bring some unruly people, it turned out they were all quite friendly, and it seemed like two of them had been present during the fight the other day, people Landon had brought, all quite decent.

The guys were jostling for the microphone, singing out of tune but creating an energetic atmosphere. Shannon managed to forget her worries, immersed in the excitement of the moment.

While everyone was drinking and chatting, the person singing suddenly stopped, shouting into the microphone, "Zane’s here! Zane’s here! Zane brought the little sister-in-law!"
