Chapter 113: – Try It –
CHAPTER 113: – TRY IT –
Viviana opened the door of her apartment. She was about to step out for work, but paused as her eyes fell on the bouquet placed right in front of her door.
She didn’t need to think to know it was him. Nikolas had been sending flowers every day, every morning, consistently. He’d never missed a single day. Wasn’t he tired of doing this?
One of her rooms was drowning with roses at this point.
Picking the bouquet up, she opened the card to read the contents.
— I know you missed me. If you call me over, I’d come. I promise —
"Hmph!" She scoffed, but didn’t drop the flowers.
If anything, she took it, leaving the apartment to the maids who bowed to her with smiles on their faces.
"Take care, madam."
Viviana stepped into the elevator and while it sped down to the last floor, she stared at the sky reaching buildings, one even being Clinica B. The hospital her mother was still at.
Now that she thought about it, Clinica B was Nikolas’s hospital. Which made it clear he was that mysterious person who’d helped her that day. He’d made it so her mother was the most watched patient and cared for, which was good, because the last time she saw her mother, she was getting so much better.
Gratitude flickered in her eyes, a little smile pulling at her lips.
The door chimed open and she stepped out. She left the penthouse toward her car in the parking lot. But came to a stop at a Rolls Royce that had just been pulled in over to park next to her car.
She lifted a brow, because somehow, a part of her was alert like she knew who it was. She could feel him. And of course, it was Nikolas.
The man settled his feet on the floor, getting out and rising to his height, gaze flashing over to her behind the sun glasses he wore. His chestnut hair was slicked back stylishly which wasn’t the usual. Nikolas liked his hair tousled a tad bit, which made her now narrow her eyes.
Where the hell was he going to, dolled up like that?
Not that his dressing was anything unusual. He was swathed in an ash coloured suit, which the suit jacket was instead replaced with a black coat.
He looked too nice. Far too nice it was as if he was going to see someone special. ’Who?’
Viviana’s eyes grew dim. She wanted to ask, but her pride wouldn’t let her.
’Who cares who he’s going to see? It isn’t as if we’re divorced yet. He can’t do that’ Amidst her thoughts, she heard that playful tone of his.
"Happy to see me, wife?" Nikolas hollered from where he rested against the car.
She looked at him. And he pushed down his glasses with a finger, eyeing her with those green eyes.
"From the looks of it, I can tell you like the flowers," he teased, running his tongue over his teeth.
Viviana rolled her eyes. Had she seriously thought all these while this man was anything but of a high class? The way he looked, the way he dressed, the way he even talked.
’I was so stupid’
"Viviana—"
"If you say anything funny to me, Nikolas, I will have these flowers on the floor and make you watch as I march and squash them."
Nikolas drew his head back, inhaling softly. "How violent, sweetheart. It gets me all hor and bothered."
"What did you just say?"
"I can’t help it." He shrugged. "It’s not easy to see your face and
not want to..."
"What?" She held the flower out, daring him to say it.
His eyes narrowed and his lips stretched into a large smile, revealing the fangs that were a bit longer than his other teeth. "Now, now, darling, calm down. Your temper is rampant."
Viviana tilted her head at him, lips arching into her grin. She was returning back the attitude.
He lifted a brow.
And so did she.
"Let me kiss you."
Now, that made her choke, eyes bulging out. "Have you gone nuts?" She shot him a withering glare.
Nikolas pushed himself off the car and began to approach her. She watched him, face growing with panic the closer he came.
"D-don’t even think about it!" She glared at him.
He didn’t listen, grasping her by the back of her waist to yank her into his solid frame.
"Nikolas!" She shoved at his chest.
Nikolas ran his fingers to the back of her head, weaving them through her hair. He stared down at her lips, mouthing, "Just a single kiss, that’s all I’m asking for. It’s not going to kill you to give me that, will it? Besides, I know damn well, you love it when I kiss you because you are a terrible kisser."
Her eyes blew wide at his comment and she stomped her heel into his feet. "How dare you? W-who did you just call a bad kisser?"
Nikolas hissed at the throbbing ache in his feet, taking a step back.
Viviana’s chest was rising and falling in heavy breathing. "Me? A bad kisser?"
"Viviana—"
"You think if I kiss someone else, they’d say the same?"
Her words made the amusement he had on his face fell. And suddenly he was oozing off an aura of displeasure.
She furrowed her brows at him. "What?"
"What did you just say?"
She huffed, "Huh, you think you’re the only man on this planet earth? Do you really think I can’t replace you?" Turning, she pulled the door of her car open to get in. However, Nikolas was in her space in the blink of her eye, crowding her between his frame and the car.
She tried turning her head to look at him, freezing when she saw just how cold and dark his eyes had grown.
"Go ahead. Try it and see what happens," he voice witth a chilling tone.
She blinked at her. Then scoffed a laugh. "What are you going to do?"
"I’ll cut off his tongue, and make sure the memory of what you tasted like is replaced with pain." There was no sense of joke in his tone. "Want to replace me? I told you I can’t give you up, Viviana, and I won’t. That also means no man on this earth is a competitor. I won’t allow it because you are mine and mine alone. I will grovel and I will do whatever you want me to, but replace me? Impossible. I don’t share what’s mine."
"Fuck you." Viviana hissed at him.
"I love these rare moments when you can’t help but swear."
She leveled him with a seething glare, and got into the car, slamming the door shut.
Nikolas watched with hands in the pocket of his coat as she her pull out of the parking lot and sped off into the road.
