CHAPTER 91: – TO HELL WITH THE STOLOV’S –
[So soon of you to forget me? What a shame]
Nikolas narrowed his eyes.
[This is Fernando Stolov speaking]
His brow cocked up. Now he recalled the voice. "And why are you calling me? How did you even get my number?"
[It wasn’t easy to be honest. But what can’t I do? Anyway, aren’t you curious to know why I went through all the trouble to contact a nobody like you?]
Nikolas stayed silent, listening, wanting to know where this was heading.
[Well, I’ll tell you] Silence fell on the other side of the phone, before a loud sigh resounded. [I know what you are]
Nikolas stiffened.
He knew? As in, that he was Nikolas Bastiani? His brows scrunched into a knot and he shook his head.
No, that wasn’t it.
He said he knew "What he was" What he was... As in...
"Meaning?" He decided to play along.
[Don’t play the fool now. You know exactly what I’m talking about]
"Do I?"
A soft laughter resounded on the other side of the phone.
[Night lovers. So vulnerable in the sun. Oooo, let’s not forget blood sucking monsters]
Nikolas stilled unnaturally. And Fernando took his silence as a queue to keep rambling. [I know that you’re a monster and I have been watching you for long. And I have proof. Now, my poor Viviana is married to you and has no clue of the monster you are. See, I may have my personal issues with Viviana, but I suppose I do care about her even a tad bit. And that’s me telling you that it’s a bit unfair to know of such information and not let her in on her. Tell her what exactly you are]
Nikolas balled his fists.
This was troublesome.
But then he pinched the bridge of his nose, saying, "I think if you wanted to tell her, you wouldn’t be here calling me, would you? If you cared about her, uyou should have already told her. But here you are, on the other side of the pone with me, almost as if...you’re looking past this for something."
[Hmmm, you’re being a smartass. That’s not very good now]
"Get to the point."
[Come to the location I’ll send to you. We can come to a deal. If not, I’ll have no choice but to tell Viviana, and I don’t really think you can afford that. However, if you can, you’re free to pretend I never contacted you. The choice is all up to you]
The call ended.
Shortly after, an address was dropped into his phone, and Nikolas stood as still as a statue, staring at the location.
————
Nikolas’s SUV rolled to a stop near the location that Fernando had sent to him. He stepped down, shut the door and narrowed his eyes around the secluded surroundings.
"Hm," he hummed under his breath.
Stepping further into the ground, he came to a stop, brow rising at the warehouse just a few distance away from him.
’That must be it’
’Well, whatever. If he tries to play any funny business with me, I’d just kill him’
He shrugged thoughtfully to himself as he made his way over to the warehouse.
Grabbing the handle, he pulled the large thick wooden door open and stepped into the warehouse. However, glancing around, he couldn’t see anyone. Fernando was nowhere to be found, and the interior of this thing was completely empty.
The creak of something drifted into his ears too suddenly. He quickly spun on his feet, watching with a blank expression as two men, who of course were Fernando and Oliver closed the door of the warehouse on him.
The other guy, Nikolas recalled him vividly. Back then, he’d said he’d known what he was. Heh...was this it?
Nikolas of course wasn’t oblivious to the fact that some small number of humans knew of their existence. It’d be impossible for some not to after existing among them for thousands of years. However, he just hadn’t thought that a simple bodyguard to some rich brat would know.
Now thinking about it, it clearly seems that he was the one who told Fernando of his nature. If so, what is the proof then?
Nikolas’s brows furrowed.
What the hell were they planning?
Waking towards the door, he pulled the handle only to cock his brow. It’d been locked.
Next, the smell of something burning began to waft into his nose and that’s when it suddenly clicked to him. These idiots were trying to burn him.
Of course not every vampire was immune to fire. Only a rare number of them, like him and his mother. Not even Lucian was fully immune to it.
This bodyguard, was he aware of this fact? And if so, were they trying to test this theory?
But even so, he was having this weird feeling gnawing at his chest as if things were about to go extremely wrong.
These two were troubles and if he stepped out of this place, he was going to kill both of them. To hell with the Stolov’s.
His lips curled into a fat smile as he lowered his gaze, watching the fire that had already engulfed into the warehouse burning everything. It spread all over him, burning, raging, but Nikolas stood, waiting for the warehouse itself to burn down.
What was there to trouble himself about?
Any minute, this wooden shit would be reduced to nothing. The fire was too much, far too much gasoline having been poured. These two really had in mind to burn him alive.
Nikolas threw his head back and when he lowered his gaze again, his eyes were no longer human—every inch of them, even the whites drowned in a blood-red glow.
His hair lifted, swaying and wobbling as if caught by the wind. Slowly and gradually, a black tinged auras began to rise from beneath his feet, thick and restless, twisting like smoke and crawling up his body and around the palms of his hands.
"I really hate becoming like this."
It rolled around across his shoulders, down his arms, spilling to the ground until it filled the space around him.
He stared at his hands. His fingers had lengthened, sharp and pointed, however, his attention was fixed on the fire slowly rising up his feet. This was his own fire. Much more intense than what this gasoline could create.
