My Possessive CEO: Trembling in His Arms
Chapter 104: Let’s See How Crazy He Can Get
CHAPTER 104: CHAPTER 104: LET’S SEE HOW CRAZY HE CAN GET
The bullet grazed Caleb Yates’s ear, flying past him and finally hitting an SUV behind him, shattering the glass with a loud crash.
After the gunshot and the sound of shattering ceased, a deathly silence fell around them.
Then, heavy breathing could be heard. It was Caleb Yates’s.
He was panting heavily, his chest rising and falling violently.
It took a good while before Caleb Yates came to his senses, his once upright body swayed slightly.
Jack Yates grabbed his hand, placing a revolver in it, and patted his shoulder, speaking in a paternal tone, "You’re still young, your uncle won’t hold it against you. A child being a little willful occasionally is no big deal, but..." The tone shifted as the man continued sharply, "But if you’re too willful, you deserve a beating."
With that, Jack Yates turned to leave, but after taking two steps, he suddenly stopped, turned back to look at the cold sweat-drenched Caleb Yates, and said solemnly, "Hector, consider it as something I owe you, be it money or power, whatever you want, your uncle can give it to you."
Hector was Caleb Yates’s childhood nickname, but after he turned twelve, his elders rarely called him by it.
Jack Yates suddenly calling him by his nickname was clearly an attempt to mix kindness with authority, to make him willingly give up.
Caleb Yates gritted his teeth, his eyes reddened as he stared at Jack Yates’s departing figure.
"Uncle!" he shouted, furious as he ran up to Jack Yates, staring angrily at him, "Even if I’m willing to let go, have you ever considered Renee’s feelings?"
Jack Yates said nothing, a vein on his forehead pulsing, anyone could see his patience had reached its limit.
Caleb Yates naturally saw that Jack Yates’s fury had peaked, but he still mustered the courage to say, "Uncle, you don’t understand Renee, she’s not someone who panders to power or fears authority. If she were that kind of person, just by having the last name ’Yates’, I would have won her over long ago, instead of having to spend a year tirelessly pursuing her."
"She feels this way about me, she probably feels the same way about you. Just because you’re Jack Yates, it doesn’t mean she’ll see you differently. Moreover, you’re my uncle, which only makes her more resistant to you."
Every word he spoke was the truth, but every word was like a sharp knife, piercing into Jack Yates’s heart.
Jack Yates’s eyes lowered, his face terrifyingly stern, his jawline tightened and relaxed, then tightened again, making his sharp and intense features even more pronounced, his facial contours cold and harsh.
"Finished?" the man’s voice was low and chilling.
Caleb Yates instinctively stepped back two paces, his previously carefree demeanor completely gone.
Even so, he continued fearlessly, "Uncle, stop trying to confine her against her will. It’s really pointless, you can’t force a relationship. Besides, the more you try to control her, the more she’ll resent you. One day, she will leave you."
Jack Yates smirked, lowering his head to unfasten his cufflinks, then slowly rolled up his sleeves to expose a well-defined, muscular arm, the veins clearly visible.
Watching Jack Yates, whose presence was overwhelming, Caleb Yates trembled inside, and involuntarily felt fear. Even after fearing this uncle for over a decade, it’s impossible to claim he’s not afraid now.
Yet despite his fear, he didn’t back down, holding onto a do-or-die mentality, he continued, "I always thought you were a righteous man, Uncle, I looked up to you since I was young, never expected you to be just like my dad, having no limits when it comes to women!"
Jack Yates laughed angrily, "I have no limits?" The man stepped up to Caleb Yates, looking down at him, "Good nephew, I’ve only ever had Renee Winslow as a woman, haven’t had as many as you. Between us, uncle and nephew, who really has no limits?"
Caleb Yates was rendered speechless, wanting to retort but unable to because Jack Yates was right. Before meeting Renee Winslow, he had dated five other girls and had been intimate with each of them.
But during a relationship, how can you not go there? He’s no celibate monk, at the youthful age, dating girlfriends is all for that kind of thing, isn’t it?
While he was dumbfounded, Jack Yates punched him on the face, followed by a kick to his body.
Caleb Yates staggered back from the blow, nearly falling.
Before he could regain his footing, Jack Yates punched him on the other side of his face, knocking him to the ground.
As Caleb Yates tried to turn over and get up, Jack Yates directly raised his right foot, stepping on his body.
Jack Yates: "I’ve spoken all the good words to you, but you won’t listen, forcing me to use my hands."
Caleb Yates, his mouth corner split and gums bleeding, laughed, "Renee Winslow won’t love you, she will never love you! Sooner or later, she’ll leave you! You’ll never truly have her in your lifetime!"
Jack Yates’s expression remained unchanged, kicking him hard enough to roll several meters away.
-
Renee Winslow couldn’t sleep, not because Jack Yates wasn’t by her side, making it difficult to rest.
Rather, her once calm and stagnant heart had been hit by a huge stone today, creating ripples.
She had been chatting with Beatrice Llewellyn all afternoon, and had learned about Beatrice Llewellyn’s family situation.
Beatrice Llewellyn was born in a place where male children were valued over female, her parents spent half their lives focused on having a son, and they believed not having a son meant losing face in the village, rendering life worthless.
Finally, after giving birth to four daughters and having three miscarriages, her mother gave birth to a son at the age of forty.
Beatrice Llewellyn was fourteen years older than her brother. When she entered college, her sister was just starting high school, her brother was still in kindergarten, and her sister had just gotten married that year, marrying a domestic abuser who hit her every third day, often coming home with black eyes and tears, only to be scolded by her parents.
Looking at the feudal and broken family, Beatrice Llewellyn had only one thought, to leave this family behind.
She eventually managed to complete her four years of college with student loans, scholarships, and part-time work.
After graduating from university, she got a government-funded study abroad opportunity, leading to her current success.
Renee Winslow had a great time chatting with Beatrice Llewellyn, really liked her character, and admired her unyielding resilience.
She aspired to become someone like Beatrice Llewellyn, even if she couldn’t reach her heights, achieving half would make her life worthwhile.
While she was tossing and turning, contemplating her future, the room’s landline rang.
The sudden ringing startled Renee Winslow, making her heart skip a beat.
This was the hotel’s internal line, which couldn’t make outside calls, only used for requesting services, so there was no way Jack Yates was calling, nor was it Caleb Yates.
Renee Winslow picked up the phone and politely asked, "Hello, how may I help you?"
Harvey Lancaster: "Miss Winslow, it’s me, the Third Master instructed us to go to Kharun tomorrow."
Upon hearing Harvey Lancaster’s voice, Renee Winslow froze, then replied, "I thought he wanted me to wait here for his return?"
Harvey Lancaster: "He just called saying we should leave tomorrow."
Renee Winslow: "What’s going to happen to his business here then?"
Harvey Lancaster: "I don’t know, the Third Master only said to take you to Kharun tomorrow."
Renee Winslow: "Alright then."
Meanwhile, at Kharun International Airport.
Caleb Yates was wearing a mask, sunglasses, and a baseball cap, covering himself completely, as if he were a top celebrity traveling incognito.
Colin Grant, beside him, whispered, "Young Master Yates, perhaps you should reconsider. If Third Master Yates finds out you took Renee Winslow from Constantium, he’ll go ballistic! At that time..."
Caleb Yates gritted his teeth, "I want him to go ballistic! I want to see just how crazy he can get!"
