My Possessive CEO: Trembling in His Arms
Chapter 117: "Be Good, Don’t Make Me Angry.
CHAPTER 117: CHAPTER 117: "BE GOOD, DON’T MAKE ME ANGRY.
When Jack Yates asked, "Is it a man or a woman?" Renee Winslow wasn’t surprised at all. If Jack hadn’t asked, she would have found it strange.
This was expected. She could have just said, "It’s my best friend," and ended it, but today she didn’t feel like going along with Jack’s wishes.
So she retorted, "Why don’t you follow and find out if it’s a man or a woman?"
Jack was undoing his cufflinks, paused at her words, and looked at her with a serious expression, a smile slowly curling up the corner of his mouth, "Renee Winslow, have I spoiled you too much, hmm?"
Staring into his dark and fierce eyes, Renee’s heart trembled. Instinctively, she felt afraid, but she maintained a fearless demeanor on the surface.
"Having dinner with another man behind my back, have you thought about the consequences?" Jack abruptly gripped her waist, his large hand clasping the back of her head as he leaned in, "Be good, don’t make me angry."
In the end, Renee conceded. She didn’t want to keep Sanga waiting too long, nor did she want to engage in pointless conflict with Jack.
"She’s my best girlfriend from high school, named Sanga." She said and then handed her phone to Jack, "If you don’t believe me, you can check our chat history or call her on video to confirm."
Jack stroked her face, "I believe you. How could I not trust you?"
Renee nodded to him, "Then I’ll be going."
Jack grabbed her hand, "Don’t overthink the house thing. It’s just a house; it’s nothing to me."
Renee scoffed inside. He was telling her not to overthink it; he assumed she was only having a dispute because of the pressure from him buying a house for her family.
Looking at his high and mighty benevolent demeanor, Renee felt utterly impotent.
This was Jack Yates, a man of high authority and insurmountable pride, always standing on the peak, looking down on everyone arrogantly.
How could he ever understand her feelings, nor did he care to understand.
"Alright." Renee returned to her soft, compliant state, "Today I was wrong; I shouldn’t have argued with you. Thank you, Third Brother."
The place agreed upon with Sanga was a hot pot restaurant on Serenity Street, an old establishment with over ten years of reputation.
From The Winslow Estate, it would take more than half an hour’s drive.
Driver Carrington drove Renee, followed by a black SUV with two bodyguards inside.
About a hundred meters from the hot pot restaurant, Renee said to Carrington, "Uncle Carrington, please stop here."
Carrington replied, "Miss Winslow, we haven’t arrived yet."
Renee softly said, "It’s not far, just a hundred meters left. I want to get off and stroll a bit."
Carrington pulled over by the roadside and advised, "Call me as soon as you’re done eating. I’ll be nearby."
After Renee got out of the car, the black SUV also stopped, and a bodyguard got out, keeping a respectful distance behind her.
Renee entered the hot pot restaurant, and the bodyguard followed her in.
"Here, here." Sanga was waving at her.
Renee quickly went over, and Sanga pulled out a chair for her.
The bodyguard sat at a table next to Renee, pretending to be a diner.
Sanga noticed the man sitting next to them, raised an eyebrow, gave Renee a look, and whispered, "The guy next to you looks imposing."
Renee nodded, thinking, Jack specifically handpicked this top-tier bodyguard from retired soldiers; of course, he’s imposing.
Soon, another bodyguard also entered the restaurant.
The presence of two tall, sturdy men made the conversations in the restaurant lower in volume.
Sanga sneakily glanced to the side, one glance after another.
Renee lightly kicked her under the table and joked, "Why don’t you join them for a meal?"
Sanga blushed, "What nonsense are you saying?"
Renee poured a cup of barley tea, took a sip, and asked with a smile, "How long will your show shoot for?"
Sanga took a sip of tea, pursed her lips, and replied, "I’m just a disposable side character with a total of three episodes. It won’t take long to shoot."
Renee asked, "After finishing this show, will you stay in Northcity to take new roles, or go back to school for classes?"
Sanga twirled her tea cup absentmindedly, "I’m in a specialized college, will graduate next year, not many classes. I want to stay in Northcity, try out more crews, even if it’s just for a bit part."
Renee said, "The senior I introduced you to last time works as a screenwriter at a film company, you could..."
Sanga interrupted with a smile, "Renee, I want to try on my own."
Renee gave her an encouraging gesture, "Go for it! I believe you can do it."
The server brought out the copper pot, along with the dishes.
Seeing three large plates of fresh lamb, as well as three large plates of beef, and side dishes like black fungus, vermicelli, and potato slices, Renee’s eyes widened in surprise, "So much, can we two finish it?" She continued, "Don’t you need to watch your weight for acting?"
Sanga replied, "I need to, but you don’t. You love meat the most. I was afraid ordering less wouldn’t be enough for you."
Renee said, "...I love it, but I can’t eat this much; hurry up and return two plates, so we don’t waste it."
Sanga turned to the table next to them, smiling, "Gentlemen, we ordered too much meat and haven’t touched it. We’d like to give you two plates."
Renee: "..."
The two bodyguards instinctively looked at Renee, who quickly cleared her throat, "Please take them."
Only after Renee spoke did they accept it.
Sanga gave the table next to them a plate of lamb and a plate of beef.
After doing so, she smiled at Renee, "Anyone who doesn’t know might think those handsome guys are your personal bodyguards."
"Cough, cough cough..." Renee choked on her tea, coughing repeatedly.
After recovering, Renee said sheepishly, "Don’t say that, it’s not nice if someone hears it."
Sanga laughed, "Just joking with you, why so serious."
Renee wasn’t serious; it’s just that they truly were her personal bodyguards, which made her feel guilty.
"Alright, I’ll stop teasing you, the water’s boiling, let’s get the meat in."
While speaking, Sanga put a slice of beef into the boiling pot.
Renee glanced over to see the two men diligently cooking the meat.
Sanga put the cooked beef into Renee’s bowl, then picked up a slice of lamb and put it in the pot.
Seeing her cooking one piece at a time, Renee directly took a plate, poured half of it in, and swirled it vigorously with her chopsticks, saying boldly, "If you cook one piece at a time like that, you’ll be eating till tomorrow."
The two bodyguards simultaneously glanced at Renee, then pretended nothing happened and continued to eat.
Renee knew that these two would definitely report her every move to Jack.
But so what? She was just having a meal with a friend, eating a bit more casually. She wasn’t meeting another man.
Sanga gave her a thumbs up, "You’re the boss!"
Though her hot pot actions were bold, Renee still ate elegantly.
Sanga took a bite, put down her chopsticks, wiped her mouth, and suddenly said, "Your family bought a house in Vintara, did you know?"
Renee, with her mouth full of meat, mumbled, "Mhm."
Sanga curiously asked, "Where did your family get the money? Did your dad win the lottery?"
