CHAPTER 150: CHAPTER 150: STANDING UP FOR HER

Renee Winslow changed her clothes and tied her silky black hair into a high ponytail. She looked vibrant and fresh like a peach blossom in early spring.

Jack Yates wrapped his arm around her waist. As they stepped out, he tilted his head and planted a kiss on the corner of her lips.

Renee Winslow glared at him, "What are you doing?"

Jack Yates: "Kissing you."

Renee Winslow ignored him and opened the door.

Jack Yates held her hand as they walked downstairs. When his gaze shifted toward the hall, his eyes showed no tenderness, only coldness and ruthlessness.

Simon Forrester nudged Lily Thatcher on the back, whispering a reminder to her, "Go apologize to Renee Winslow."

Originally, Simon Forrester intended to cover for Lily Thatcher and have Leo Forrester take the blame. Though it wasn’t exactly taking the blame since it was indeed Leo Forrester who caused the incident on the surface.

Even though he was angry with Lily Thatcher’s actions, he couldn’t bear to see her punished by Jack Yates, so he lied temporarily, planning to let Leo Forrester take full responsibility.

He thought that since Leo Forrester was just a child, mischievously shooting birds and accidentally hitting Renee Winslow’s leg, Jack Yates wouldn’t get too upset or argue with a young child.

Unexpectedly, Lily Thatcher admitted it herself and said such things.

At that moment, Simon Forrester was stunned.

He hadn’t expected Lily Thatcher to also like Jack Yates, but he quickly understood.

Most people admire strength, and a man like Jack Yates not only easily attracts women, but even men can’t help but want to be close to him.

Whether it’s for fame or fortune, people are drawn to him for benefits, even though they know he is cold, ruthless, and difficult to get along with. Many still hasten to build a relationship with him.

Everyone knows that working under Jack Yates makes things much easier. With his backing, while you might not walk arrogantly, at least everything goes smoothly, projects come through without anyone daring to play tricks.

So it’s not strange that Lily Thatcher would like him.

However, someone like Jack Yates, unless he’s interested in you, liking him is futile, only adding unnecessary trouble.

Jack Yates is cold, arrogant, and brazen. What he wants and doesn’t want has always been entirely his decision; no one can dictate to him.

Whoever he likes becomes his, even if that person doesn’t like him, like Renee Winslow.

If he doesn’t like someone, no matter their family background or excellence, it makes no difference; he won’t even spare them a glance, like Wren Hawthorne.

The Hawthorne Family is on par with The Yates Family, even better than The Thatcher Family and The Forrester Family.

And Wren Hawthorne herself is talented and beautiful, standing at five feet seven inches, possessing elegance and grace, a graduate of Imperial College with a Ph.D. in Bioengineering Medicine at just twenty years old.

After returning to the country, Wren Hawthorne started her own medical equipment R&D company, engaged in medical and biological research projects.

Even so, Jack Yates remained indifferent to Wren Hawthorne, unwilling to meet her even once.

If even a socialite like Wren Hawthorne can’t win Jack Yates’s heart, what chance does Lily Thatcher have?

Before today, Simon Forrester hadn’t realized that Lily Thatcher liked Jack Yates. Had he noticed sooner, he would have advised her not to harbor unrealistic expectations.

In the vast Northcity, she could like anyone else but not Jack Yates.

Most importantly, Jack Yates had no feelings for Lily Thatcher, barely speaking a few words to her.

Seeing Lily Thatcher stubbornly standing still, Simon Forrester heavily patted her on the back, his tone intensified, "Go apologize now!"

Lily Thatcher looked at Jack Yates and Renee Winslow’s tightly clasped hands, feeling a fiery rage burning in her chest, making her eyes red.

Hmph!

With a cold snort, she turned and ran off.

"Where’s Miss Thatcher going?" Jack Yates asked coldly.

Lily Thatcher paused momentarily before continuing to run outside.

Jack Yates shot a cold glance at Simon Forrester, "If Second Young Master Forrester can’t stop her, I’ll have my men do it. My bodyguards are rough; if they break an arm or leg, don’t come complaining to me." He added, "Everyone involved will face the consequences together."

His tone was arrogant and domineering, carrying a chilling air of authority not open to rebuttal.

Simon Forrester had no choice but to catch up and grab Lily Thatcher’s arm, pulling her back to the hall.

Lily Thatcher couldn’t hold it any longer and burst into tears.

Seeing this, Renee Winslow understood everything.

This young lady from The Thatcher Family had used a slingshot to injure her leg, causing her to fall into the lake.

But she couldn’t fathom why Lily Thatcher bore such hostility towards her.

If it was merely disdain, it shouldn’t have led to such deep hatred.

If you look down on her, you should disdain to pay her any attention.

Then there’s only one reason left, the most logical reason — Lily Thatcher likes Jack Yates.

After thinking it through, Renee Winslow slightly turned her head and glared at Jack Yates, seemingly coy and annoyed, whispering, "It’s all your fault."

Jack Yates chuckled softly, his hand on her waist rubbed firmly, and leaning to her ear, he whispered, "Yeah, blame me. I’ll serve you well tonight to make it up to you, okay?"

He used a Beijing accent, deliberately slowed his tone, sounding lazy and wanton, inexplicably enticing.

Renee Winslow’s ears turned red instantly, she elbowed him in the chest, "Let go."

Making it up to her? Clearly, it’s something he wants.

Jack Yates no longer teased her, pulling her as they passed Lily Thatcher, he stopped, glancing sideways at Lily, his tone harsh as frost and snow, "Who suits me and who doesn’t is not for Miss Thatcher to decide."

After saying this, he led Renee Winslow out.

Simon Forrester hastily pulled Lily Thatcher to follow.

The others hesitated for a few seconds between following or not, ultimately deciding to follow out.

They all knew, Jack Yates didn’t let them avoid it because he wanted them as witnesses.

If they didn’t go at this point, they might displease Jack Yates, so the group quickly followed out.

Jack Yates led Renee Winslow to the center of the courtyard, on the open space not far from the lake, and asked for the slingshot, the same one Leo Forrester had used to hit Renee Winslow.

"Look, like this." Jack Yates casually picked up a few small stones, bent at the waist, stood behind Renee Winslow, his right hand gripping the bow frame, his left hand pinching the leather pouch with two fingers and pulling it forcefully backward, while pulling the elastic, he subtly pushed forward, his thin lips close to her ear, his voice hoarse, "Pull until you can’t pull anymore then release, this tests the maximum distance you can shoot."

Renee Winslow felt her back was like stuck to a scorching stove, and that stove closely pressed against her, making her flustered and confused.

She glanced at the people around, seeing everyone’s eyes on her and Jack Yates, she felt her back burning even more, awkwardly moving forward a bit.

However, just as she moved a bit, Jack Yates firmly held her waist, pulling her back into his arms, lifting her fair little hand, placing the slingshot in her hand, and stuffing a small stone to her.

"Try it." Jack Yates gently squeezed her hand, "It’s simple, try a few more times and you’ll get it."

Renee Winslow pursed her lips, whispered, "Stand further away, you standing behind me makes it hard for me to concentrate."

Jack Yates chuckled, stepped back a few steps.

Renee Winslow followed what Jack Yates said to do, except her strength wasn’t as much as Jack Yates’s, the stone didn’t fly far.

Jack Yates encouraged her, "Try again."

Renee Winslow tried once more, Jack Yates urged her to continue trying.

In the end, Renee Winslow shot seven or eight stones, Jack Yates walked beside her, patted her shoulder and praised her like one would a child, "Great job, sweetheart."

After saying this, he turned his face to Lily Thatcher, "Will Miss Thatcher come on her own, or should I invite you?"

Lily Thatcher clutched Simon Forrester’s arm hard, looking to Simon for help, "Second Brother."

Even Simon Forrester was helpless, it was indeed Lily Thatcher’s fault, Jack Yates wanted to punish Lily Thatcher, he had no right to intervene, nor could he.

He knew Jack Yates’s temper too well, arguing openly wasn’t a big issue, once over it would be forgotten.

If today they didn’t let Jack Yates vent this anger, the consequences would only be worse.

Simon Forrester reluctantly pushed Lily Thatcher forward, "Go on, you’re the one who hit someone for no reason, and what’s more it was Jack Yates’s woman. He’s only letting his girlfriend hit you a bit, already giving face to us and the Forrester Family, otherwise, with his character, he wouldn’t be Jack Yates if he didn’t peel your skin."

Tears streaming, Lily Thatcher walked forward, still angry, still unwilling, yet not daring to show it in front of Jack Yates.

A single look from Jack Yates and all her arrogance vanished.

"Miss Thatcher, please stand by the lake." Jack Yates appeared to be polite, even using the respectful word "please", while in truth, he was cold to the extreme.

If it were someone else, considering he and Simon Forrester were childhood friends, or even the relationship between the two families, this incident would have been let go, he wouldn’t publicly offend a friend for a girlfriend, much less offend the Forrester Family.

But Jack Yates wouldn’t let it go, in his dictionary, tolerance didn’t exist, nor was there anything he couldn’t offend.

Especially considering Renee Winslow was his Achilles’ heel, anyone who hurt Renee Winslow was equivalent to touching his weak spot.

Lily Thatcher bit her lip, tears shining as she walked to the lake, back to the water, facing Jack Yates.

Even at this moment, Lily Thatcher didn’t believe it, she didn’t believe Jack Yates would truly let Renee Winslow hit her with the slingshot.

She was betting, betting on Jack Yates’s compassion for her.

Jack Yates reached out, holding Renee Winslow’s waist, leaning close to her ear and said, "In a moment, hit her left knee, keep hitting until she falls into the water, got it?"

Renee Winslow gripped the slingshot tightly, exhaled deeply, "Or let’s not, after all, Miss Thatcher is Mr. Forrester’s cousin, and Mr. Forrester is your friend, there’s no need to do it for me..."

Jack Yates grasped her waist with considerable force, his voice darkening, "Either let me have my way ten times tonight until you faint, or you hit her until she falls into the water, you choose."
