My Possessive CEO: Trembling in His Arms
Chapter 38: Did You Sleep Well?
CHAPTER 38: CHAPTER 38: DID YOU SLEEP WELL?
When going up the mountain, Renee Winslow didn’t actually need Jack Yates to carry her, as she could still walk then. However, coming down, she truly needed Jack to carry her.
Although it only happened twice, Jack Yates’ efforts were equivalent to several efforts of others, after all, each time took forty to fifty minutes.
Renee Winslow glanced at the time, seeing it was 9:30. She recalled Mount Verdian’s summer closing time was 8 PM.
"Oh, it’s already 9:30, the gates are closed, how will we get out?"
Jack Yates, carrying her, walked leisurely down the mountain, "Don’t worry, we’ll get out."
When they reached the foot of the mountain, they found the entrance gate indeed open.
Renee Winslow thought of asking Jack Yates if he had informed the local tourism office, but eventually she didn’t ask. At times like this, it’s better to stay clueless.
Jack Yates didn’t think much of it. If Renee Winslow had asked, he wouldn’t have hidden it and would have explained. However, since she didn’t ask, he didn’t say more.
Being almost thirty years old, he was not about to show off in front of a young lady.
When they returned to the hotel, it was already 10 PM. Renee Winslow finished showering and drying her hair, and after tidying up, it was 11 PM.
Fearing Jack Yates might insist again, she quickly used her hand to cover a yawn, making herself look quite sleepy, then turned to face the window and closed her eyes.
Jack Yates saw through her little thoughts clearly, his lips curled as he switched off the room’s bright lights, leaving just a dim nightlight by the bed.
He lifted the covers, lay down beside Renee Winslow, hugged her into his arms, and gently kissed her fragrant and soft hair, "Not tonight, let’s sleep."
Hearing his words, Renee Winslow, assured he wouldn’t insist, turned around, reached out to touch his firm features.
She leaned in to kiss his lips with a smile, "Goodnight."
Jack Yates pulled her tightly into his embrace, restraining his breaths, "Goodnight."
The next morning, Renee Winslow woke up naturally and suddenly sat up. Looking at the time, she realized it was already after nine.
Jack Yates wasn’t in the bedroom, he must be in the living room.
She shouted, "Jack Yates."
Jack Yates pushed the door open, walked to the bedside, and ruffled her hair, "Slept well?"
Renee Winslow scratched her face, feeling a bit embarrassed, "We still have to rush to Rondale today to catch the flight. Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?"
Jack Yates replied, "No hurry, the flight is in the evening, you can still enjoy half a day in Vintara."
Renee Winslow shook her head, "I’m not playing anymore, Vintara is only so big, not much fun. Better to head to Rondale early and enjoy there."
Jack Yates, "That works too. Get up and have breakfast first, then we can leave."
During breakfast, Renee Winslow asked, "Where’s our first stop?"
Jack Yates replied with a question, "Where do you want to go?"
Renee Winslow widened her eyes, "You didn’t make any travel plans?"
Jack Yates paused, then laughed, "No, I didn’t."
Renee Winslow regretted asking immediately, feeling she had lost her mind due to love. Otherwise, why would she ask such a foolish question?
Making travel plans is something that could never happen with someone like Jack Yates. With his financial and social standing, he could go wherever he wanted without worrying about money or time, so why make plans? The mere thought would be laughable.
Jack Yates noticed her varied expressions, holding back his laughter, he gently caressed her face, "Mainly because I don’t know how to make travel plans. If you know how, you can draft an itinerary. Write down the places you want to visit and how you want to explore them."
Renee Winslow bit the tip of her chopsticks, looking troubled, "But I’ve never been abroad, haven’t gone anywhere. I don’t know which places are fun."
Jack Yates reassured, "This time I’ll take you, and in the future, every year, you can take me."
Renee Winslow smiled, "Alright."
The morning sun of summer shone through the window, illuminating the room and casting a bright light over the table.
In the morning light, Renee Winslow’s smile was soft and sweet, making Jack Yates’ heart melt.
Jack Yates gazed at her deeply, making no effort to conceal the yearning in his eyes.
"Stop it, don’t look at me like that," Renee Winslow’s heart raced under Jack Yates’ gaze, her face reddened, and she nervously lowered her eyes.
At that moment, it felt as if an invisible thread connected them, threading through Renee Winslow’s heart and into Jack Yates’ heart, slowly pulling tighter until their hearts were drawn together.
Renee Winslow’s breathing became rapid, her heart pounded; she exhaled lightly, forcibly suppressing its frantic beating.
At this point, she felt a twinge of frustration, as she had always warned herself not to fall for Jack Yates. Yet now she realized her heart was beginning to lose control.
