My Possessive CEO: Trembling in His Arms
Chapter 54: Third Brother, I’m Rested Now
CHAPTER 54: CHAPTER 54: THIRD BROTHER, I’M RESTED NOW
Renee Winslow held Autumn Lowell’s hand and followed Patrick Thorne into a VIP deluxe suite.
Patrick Thorne instructed the bar manager to bring a variety of snacks and fruits, then smiled and stepped out.
Autumn Lowell tidied her messy hair, her eyes bright as she looked at Renee Winslow, excitedly asking, "Renee, what does your boyfriend do? He seems really impressive."
Renee Winslow didn’t reveal Jack Yates’ identity, but simply said, "He’s in business, has some connections in Northcity."
Autumn Lowell looked very interested and asked again, "What kind of business? How did you two meet?"
Renee Winslow didn’t answer Autumn Lowell’s question, and instead asked her back, "Aren’t you studying in Southedge? How come you’re here in Northcity?"
Autumn Lowell leaned back on the sofa, once again showing a dejected expression, "My boyfriend is from Northcity, kind of a rich second generation. Last month, I came to Northcity to see him, stayed at his place for a few days, and this month I found out I was pregnant, so I came to Northcity to find him. I originally wanted him to go to the hospital with me for the operation, but he refused to admit it and I caught him cheating."
Renee Winslow asked, "...How long have you been with your boyfriend?"
Autumn Lowell said, "Not long, we only got together last month, but I’ve known him for almost half a year."
Renee Winslow asked again, "Did you meet online?"
Autumn Lowell nodded, "He watched my live streams, sent me virtual gifts, and messaged me privately. At first, I ignored him, but later he kept sending gifts every day and became my top supporter. So, I replied to him and added him as a friend."
Renee Winslow didn’t know what to say; she wasn’t used to saying harsh words to hurt people, yet comforting words were also hard to come by, so she could only respond in silence.
"What about you?" Autumn Lowell shifted the topic back to Renee Winslow, "How did you meet your boyfriend?"
Renee Winslow casually brushed off the question, "I study in Northcity, it’s easy to meet people from Northcity."
Autumn Lowell looked towards the door of the suite, pouting, "But your boyfriend looks quite a bit older than you."
Renee Winslow: "He’s only in his twenties, not that much older."
Autumn Lowell: "But you’re only eighteen. I’m twenty, and you’re almost two years younger. Back when we were in class, you were the youngest. You hadn’t even turned seventeen when the college entrance exams ended."
Renee Winslow smiled, "Eighteen is already an adult." Then she added, "Autumn, the reason I dare to come find you at night and accompany you to the bar today is because I know no matter what happens to me, my boyfriend can handle it, and he’ll help me. If I didn’t have a boyfriend who could handle things, I wouldn’t dare to come find you in the middle of the night, or even if I did, I certainly wouldn’t accompany you to a bar."
With that, Renee Winslow stood up, looking at Autumn Lowell with gentle eyes.
"Autumn, today I came to accompany you because we’re from the same hometown and were high school classmates, but this is the only time, there won’t be a next time. You don’t need to probe into my matters, and don’t expect me to continue helping you."
Autumn Lowell stared blankly at Renee Winslow, then quickly stood up to explain hurriedly, "Renee, don’t misunderstand. I called you over today just to have someone with me because I felt really upset, really wanted someone by my side. Here in Northcity, I’m unfamiliar with everyone except my boyfriend, you’re the only person I could think of. Back in high school, everyone avoided me like the plague, only you treated me well, only you were willing to help me."
Renee Winslow smiled, "I helped you because we were classmates, I treat all my classmates the same. No matter who’s in trouble, I’ll help if I can, it’s not just you."
After pausing, she added, "As for your relationships, it doesn’t matter how many men you date or who you date, it has nothing to do with me, I’m not interested. But I still want to advise you, don’t get involved with just any worthless person, you need to open your eyes. Plus, you only have one body, degrading yourself like this only hurts you, it doesn’t hurt anyone else. Of course, if you truly enjoy this lifestyle, just ignore what I said. Though I don’t understand it, I respect it."
After saying this, she picked up her phone to call Jack Yates, "Jack, I’ve rested enough, can I leave?"
