My Possessive CEO: Trembling in His Arms
Chapter 93: Whether It’s Appropriate, I Decide
CHAPTER 93: CHAPTER 93: WHETHER IT’S APPROPRIATE, I DECIDE
Renee Winslow eventually compromised. She couldn’t bear to watch her grandmother die; blood ties, although repugnant to her, were impossible to completely sever.
She could be cruel and ignore her father, but couldn’t bring herself to disregard her grandmother’s life, after all, her grandmother raised her.
This compromise was her repayment for her grandmother’s nurturing grace.
After hanging up the phone, Renee Winslow went upstairs; by this time, Jack Yates had finished his wash and returned to the study.
Renee Winslow also took a shower, deliberately wearing a sexy silk nightgown, she came to the study door and knocked.
"Come in."
Jack Yates’s deep voice sounded from inside the study.
Renee Winslow gripped the door handle tightly, her knuckles turned white, then she softly twisted it and pushed the door open.
Jack Yates sat at the desk with crossed legs, was on the phone.
When Renee Winslow entered, she didn’t approach immediately, just stood by the door.
Jack Yates instructed over the phone: "Book two tickets to Brudelle, the soonest for tomorrow."
After hanging up, he looked at Renee Winslow: "What’s the matter?"
Renee Winslow walked up to him, her eyes glistening with tears as she bit her lip and said softly, "Don’t be angry."
Jack Yates opened the cigarette box on the table, took out a cigarette, and gestured to her.
Renee Winslow immediately picked up the lighter from the table and lit it for him.
Jack Yates hugged her waist and sat her on his lap, clasped in two fingers, he took away the cigarette between his lips and kissed her, passing the smoke into her mouth.
Renee Winslow coughed repeatedly, her cheeks flushed red.
Jack Yates chuckled and caressed her face: "It looks better like this, the red on white is more tempting."
Though teased by him, Renee Winslow dared not get angry, she didn’t even dare frown.
"Third Brother, please help me again."
Jack Yates raised his eyebrows: "After I help you, are you going to leave me again?"
Renee Winslow’s lips quivered, tears welled in her eyes: "I never wanted to leave you, it was you who suddenly ignored me."
Seeing the girl’s soft and weak aggrieved look, Jack Yates softened, the anger he felt dissipating.
Putting out the cigarette, he held her waist in both hands, lifted her, repositioning her; she went from sitting sideways to straddling him, face-to-face.
This position was too intimate for Renee Winslow, and she felt uncomfortable.
Just as she intended to move back, Jack Yates held her still.
"Don’t move." He pressed firmly on her waist, pulling her closer.
Renee Winslow felt Jack Yates’ reaction clearly, freezing in place.
Jack Yates embraced her waist with one hand, and held her face with the other, asking in a low voice, "Do you hate me?"
Renee Winslow paused, then shook her head: "I don’t hate you."
Impossible not to hate him?
Renee Winslow despised Jack Yates, but hatred was futile, she couldn’t fight him.
Moreover, she needed his help now, yielding was her only option.
Jack Yates kissed the corner of her lips: "Renee, you can hate me, but you can’t leave me, and you cannot have another man in your heart."
Renee Winslow repeated: "I don’t, Third Brother, I don’t have anyone else in my heart."
Jack Yates: "Alright, I won’t dwell on past matters."
Renee Winslow: "..."
He’s letting go?
Renee Winslow almost laughed, it was truly ridiculous.
At this moment, she profoundly understood what behavior from those in power looked like; Jack Yates’s actions were a typical reflection — indifferent and arrogant, disregarding others’ thoughts, whatever he determined was definitive.
Renee Winslow knew clearly, reiterating it countless times would never help, because Jack Yates wouldn’t believe her words.
She asked softly: "Third Brother, are you going abroad tomorrow?"
Jack Yates: "Yes, you’re coming too."
Renee Winslow was surprised: "Me?" she furrowed her brow, looking at him with concern, "But my grandmother is ill, I want to..."
Jack Yates with assertive tone: "Don’t worry, I’ve arranged someone to handle your family matters, you wouldn’t be able to help even if you returned."
Renee Winslow: "You’re going abroad for business, it’s not appropriate for me to go with you, is it?"
Jack Yates smirked: "Appropriate or not, I decide."
