CHAPTER 33: D RANKED

The next day, Silva got up and got ready to head out. Peter was a heavy sleeper, so he was still crashed out by the time Silva was leaving.

He got to the kitchen, and Ella was making breakfast. When she saw him already dressed to go out, she spoke, "Shouldn’t you take it easy after what happened in the school?"

"Nah, I have quite a bit to do today. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine," he said, grabbing a piece of toast, sticking it in his mouth, and leaving.

He got into a taxi as soon as he was out and headed straight for the main guild. When he arrived, he asked specifically for the man who had handled his exam the previous day.

The receptionist was kind and helped him out as he described.

"Uhm, he is Mr. Lewis, and he is still in the evaluation room. That’s where he works," she said. He was about to go but then recalled that he had some cores on him, so he turned to face her.

"Is it possible to sell cores here?" he asked.

"Yes, but you’ll need to go to the third floor for that," she said.

"Oh, alright, thank you."

He got into the elevator and headed for the second floor. He rushed to the evaluation room, and he immediately spotted Mr. Lewis handling another awakened.

He walked up to them. "Good day, sir," he greeted. Mr. Lewis turned; he looked at Silva for a few minutes, a blank look on his face.

"When you ran out yesterday, I was a bit angry, but later I saw you on the news concerning that school. What made you rush there, to be a hero?" he asked.

"No, not that. It was the school my sister went to. I couldn’t stand by while she was in danger," Silva spoke honestly.

"Hmmm, I see. Well then, that’s fine," he responded.

"So, can I please take the evaluation again?" Silva asked.

"No, you can’t." A bombshell was dropped on his head. He wanted to plead, but Mr. Lewis pulled out a new guild card.

"After everything you did yesterday, the people you saved, and also your performance in the first part of the evaluation, I believe it is safe to say that you are a D-rank," Mr. Lewis said.

Silva looked at the card with disbelief. He saw his name and everything on it. He pulled out his F-ranked card and took a look at it, a slight shaky smile formed on his face.

"Not many people can do what you have done. Your records show that you have two evolution rooms in your ability, yet somehow you have gone higher.

I believe you might have undergone a second awakening, as it is very possible. And I understand if you want to keep the information confidential, we’ll do that for you," Mr. Lewis said.

Silva nodded. He took the card, gave a slight bow to Mr. Lewis, and headed out of the evaluation room.

The moment the door of the evaluation room closed, Mr. Lewis tapped on his notepad, and a call was put through. A few seconds later, a hologram appeared.

It was an empty luxury office chair, and behind it was a large window view. Lewis raised his brow when he didn’t see anyone there, but then he heard footsteps.

Finally, a man came and sat on the chair. He had a stern face, cold eyes, and a mature air around him that told everyone he had been here a while. He had on a white shirt and a black waistcoat, and there was a cup of steaming hot coffee in his hands.

"Guild master, good morning," Lewis greeted.

"Good morning, Lewis. I was making a cup of coffee, sorry for the delay," the guild master apologized.

"No, it’s my fault, I called unannounced," Lewis said.

"And I believe there must have been a really good reason for that," the guild master said.

"Yes, you recall the incident a while back where three kids were the only survivors?" Lewis asked.

"Of course I remember. I’m still facing issues concerning our gate analysis."

"About that, one of the boys, Silva Tallon, who survive, I believe something is definitely different about him. I think you should look into it more," Lewis said.

"Hmmm, are you going on gut feeling here, or do you have proof?"

"Yes, I do. He managed to go from F-rank to D-rank, and I believe he can easily reach C soon. This wasn’t supposed to be possible with his ability," Lewis explained.

The guild master took a sip of his coffee. He furrowed his brows. "I see. Well, you don’t have to worry. There were already agents assigned to watch him. After the way he healed, we knew there was something definitely wrong or different.

He gained something from that gate, and we’ll have to know what it is. Thank you for informing me, Lewis. You can take your mind off it now, I’ll handle it," the guild master said and disconnected.

Meanwhile, Silva had already made it to the third floor, and after a little bit of asking around, he found the place where he could sell the cores, the exchange room.

It was almost as massive as the evolution room, and it felt like a full market, or a comic con, but with professionals in suits behind the counters. He could see where to sell different kinds of cores and where to also buy cores.

He looked for an Order core stand, and he saw a few, so he randomly picked one that didn’t have much of a crowd around. Different awakened were selling their cores.

Finally, it got to his turn. A single orc core went for a market price of a thousand credits. This was because of the healing factor in the orcs, so the cores were used to make healing potions which were constantly in demand.

Silva sold ten of them and easily had six thousand credits transferred. Others around were stunned to see one person have that many.

After he was done, he made to leave, but then ran into someone he hadn’t seen since the incident. Stacy.
