CHAPTER 39: MEETING THE BOYFRIEND PART 1
Silva looked at her, she was serious, she wanted to know.
’The guild must have informed her about something,’ he thought.
"I told everything that happened to the guild already," he said.
"I know you did, but I want to ask if there is even a little bit of detail that you left out that might be pivotal to our understanding of that gate," she said.
Silva looked at her. He could see the honesty, she wanted to know. She could have used many methods to force the response out of him, but she didn’t.
He took a deep breath and then spoke, "The gate isn’t your normal gate. I might have not seen everything beyond, but I can say for sure that entering it recklessly will lead to many deaths, more than you’ll be able to handle."
He clasped his hands together. "What we saw there wasn’t just power, it was unfiltered and complete domination. Nothing that we could have done would have made any difference.
We were handed our lives. He didn’t make it out of there alive, we were allowed to," he said.
’I know the people that entered the gate were low ranks, but for all of them to speak of the horror, and for him, who stood up to an A-rank today, to also be this terrified, then there is definitely something dangerous there,’ she thought. She looked at Silva. "And do you know why it let you live?" she asked.
"Because it wanted us to tell, to act as messengers to all of humanity, to warn us of its coming. Whatever it is, it will return, and when it does, it will cause havoc," Silva said.
Only then did Elena realize, of course such a monster would not allow people to go if it didn’t have a message to send.
If all that Silva had said was the truth, then they were looking at an impending war. The only way to stop it would be to enter the gate and stop it right at the roots.
She looked at Silva. "We will be entering the gate, and as someone that has gone in before, come with us. I’ll make you a member of the Rising Phoenix Guild with tons of benefits," she said.
’She wants to rope me in, tsk, not yet. I’ll not join any organization yet. For now, they simply want to grow me as a talent, but I can go far on my own and then they’ll need me, that’s when I can make demands.
I want all the money and resources I can get, so a little patience will be all it takes,’ Silva thought.
"That’s a very generous offer, Miss Elena, but sadly, I can’t take that offer. I’d rather be solo for now," Silva said.
"For now? That means there is a possibility that you might join the guild?" she asked.
"Hmm, it’s not off the table," he responded.
"Great, I believe you have a lot of talent, I’m certain of it, so I call dibs on you," she said.
"Dibs? Miss Elena, isn’t that for kids?" Silva asked.
"We are all kids at heart, some of us still dream of the day we can happily play at the beach," she said with a soft smile.
’Behind all the coldness and strength is someone nice to talk to,’ Silva thought.
"You can call dibs, but what if another organization comes with a better offer?" he asked.
She looked at him, eyebrows raised. "I didn’t take you for a plotting type. Well, I guess that was my bad. So how’s this for now, you’ll have my contact and can ask for help whenever you need it. But every time I help, that’s a favor that you owe me," she said.
"Hmm, to be able to contact the strongest in the entire zone, that’s definitely something that can’t be topped," he said with a smile.
"Good, then we’ll see sometime later," she said with a smile. "Also, I’ll be watching you. I like to see the growth of my investment."
Silva didn’t reply to that. He simply smiled and got up, bid his goodbye, and left the office. He headed out of the building; it was already dark out.
He got a taxi and went on his way home. He thought about all the things that they spoke about. He recalled the gate, the demon, every single time he thought about it, he was scared and enraged.
One day, one day he would be strong enough to take down that demon.
Silva arrived at the house. He dropped down from the taxi and went in. He arrived at the door and opened it, and immediately his eyes landed on Ella, his sister, another girl, Amber from the attack, and finally the last young man, seated next to Ella as they watched a movie.
A cold air blew through the room. Silva stood there, and all eyes turned to him. But his gaze was locked on the young man. He had deep brown hair and eyes, a cute-like face and a fairly standard build, but he was good-looking.
"I thought you said you were staying late," Ella said.
"I did," he replied.
"This is late? What are you? A fifty-year-old man?" she asked.
"Heyyyy." Amber waved to him. She got up from the chair and rushed to Silva. She stood in front of him and grabbed his hands.
"Hello, I’m Amber. You saved me in the academy a few days back," she said.
’Huh? I barely remember, I went there to save Ella, not you,’ Silva thought but didn’t say it out.
"I just wanted to say, you were so cool and awesome," Amber said.
"Amber, stay away from my brother," Ella spoke. Amber immediately glared at her.
Silva, on the other hand, was still locked on the kid. "So who is the young man?" he asked.
"Oh, yeah, sorry." The boy spoke and got up. "I’m Noel Frit," he said and stretched out his hands for a handshake. Silva took it and then looked at his sister.
"He is my boyfriend," she stated.
"Oh? I didn’t know you had one," Silva said, and then loomed Noel right in the eye with a cold stare.
