CHAPTER 58: GATE BOSS

With him down there, all the tendrils stopped what they were doing and immediately focused on him.

"Oh yeah, this is definitely a very bad idea," he said. He scanned around for anything that could be of some use to him, but there was nothing, just rows and rows of eggs hanging from the ceiling.

He looked at the tentacles, a cold look in his eyes. "I guess we are doing this," he said and lunged forward, his feet carrying him as fast as possible, with a sword in one hand and his gauntlet ready to go in the other.

Ten tendrils all locked on him, the first one shot, cutting through the air fast. He dodged to the side as it struck the ground and blasted a small crater there.

He pushed forward as another came. He dodged, and then another, and another. He managed to get past five in a row. The tendrils seemed to understand that attacking one at a time wouldn’t cut it, so they attacked, three tendrils ripping through the air at a speed that would be considered crazy.

Silva scanned around for an answer, but nothing came, so he leaped backward as they all struck the ground in front of him, blasting craters and causing dust to rise.

In the air, he used Claw Strike and cut through the tendrils. His right leg touched the ground, and before it could even rest fully he pushed forward, launching like a rocket.

He kept his head low as he ran, his eyes trained at the base of the tendrils. But the tendrils weren’t having any of it; they all converged on him, coming down at full speed.

Without any other choice, Silva turned and crossed his arms. All the tendrils slammed into his gauntlets, his entire body shaken to the core. He coughed out so much blood he looked like a fountain, eyes rolling back, as he fell down, his head slamming into the cold, hard floor.

The force from the attack shook the entire nest, causing some lizardman eggs to shatter and release them to the ground. Their hungry eyes locked on Silva immediately.

Silva lay there, pain all over his body. It felt as if everything was broken into pieces. He could barely breathe properly, his airflow already filled with blood.

Everything was going hazy very quickly.

’Ack, will I die here? Is this all I amount to? No, Ella needs me. I’m not stopping here, I didn’t die then, I’ll not die now.’

He gritted his bloodied teeth and slowly rolled, his body screaming with pain as he stood up. Every fiber of his body screamed that he should get down and rest, but he refused.

He got up on his feet, his legs wobbling, acting like cooked spaghetti. He looked at every lizardman that was headed his way.

A smile formed on his face.

"If you want me dead? COME AND GET ME!" he roared. The mark on his hands suddenly lit up with a bright glow.

[You have activated one of the Seven Sins, RAGE]

The message came out of nowhere, and before he could react to it, his body was taken over by some sort of energy. It rushed through every fiber of his being.

Anger filled his mind, bubbling like water in a hot kettle. His eyes turned into those of a demon; all there was, was the rage of a predator.

He lunged forward at top speed, running multiple times faster than ever before. Silva was no longer in full control—he knew what he was doing, but he couldn’t stop it. The only thing he knew now was his anger and desire to quench it in the blood of his enemies.

The first lizardman swung its tail to attack and Silva caught it. He ripped it out with minimal effort and proceeded to use it to beat up the lizardman.

BAM! BAM!

Left and right the swings kept on coming, slamming its face hard, shattering its bones. When it was mangled, he looked up at the rest and lunged at them.

In only a few seconds, the entire place turned into a massacre site. He killed lizardman after lizardman; even when more broke out, he killed them immediately.

When he finally finished, he turned his gaze to the tendrils and lunged at them. The tendrils attacked him, but he blocked each one with ease and went for the kill. But just when he was about to end it all, his rage exhausted, and he collapsed headfirst onto the ground.

[The Sin of Rage has ended.]

He looked at the message with a grim expression. His one chance to end it all was just swiped away.

STAB!

A tendril stabbed through his back.

"Ahhhhhhhh!" he screamed in pain as the tendril slowly lifted him off the ground. He looked at all the other tendrils targeting him, ready to finish him off.

Then he remembered. The attack that he blocked from the tendrils—the one that had almost killed him. He had blocked the attack, which meant...

He looked at the gauntlets, and then a grin formed on his face.

"Hey, take what you gave me," he said and lifted both hands before punching downward, releasing a force so powerful it obliterated all the tendrils, and proceeded to smash the ground where they were, leaving behind a massive crater.

BOOOOOM!

Silva fell to the ground, hitting the floor hard.

Notifications flooded his mind as he lay there on the ground.

He let out a weak chuckle.

"What do you know, it was actually the Gate Boss, and I just killed it. Awesome," he muttered, and then closed his eyes for a bit.

"I’m... I’m just going to rest a bit."
