CHAPTER 60: ELENA’S TRAINING
The gate collapsed, so everyone was kicked out. It had been a while since people saw a gate get closed. All the awakened stood outside and watched as everyone inside was teleported out of the gate.
Silva was also teleported out. He looked at the gate with everyone; no one knew that he was the one who had destroyed it. He kept the core in his inventory.
He watched until the gate vanished, releasing a burst of energy and wind. After that, he turned and walked away. He hailed a taxi and got in.
He put a call to Elena.
"Hello, Lady Elena."
(Silva, I was in training, so whatever it is, it better be important,) she said.
"It is. I’m headed to your building. I’ll be arriving soon," he said.
(Fine, I’ll tell the team you are coming,) she said.
He cut the call and leaned back in the car seat, watching outside through the window.
He had been in there for a total of two days. Even though he lost concept of time, he had spent one night there based on the time, and it was now the afternoon of the next day.
The taxi pulled up at the building. He walked out and headed in immediately. He spotted Andrew standing there.
Andrew didn’t bother to greet and just turned away, leading the way. They got into the elevator and went up.
They came out on the tenth floor and made their way to the training area.
The training room was a massive insulated structure. The walls were flat, smooth, and white. There was a large window where he could see her inside.
Elena stood there. She had on a tight black turtleneck combat shirt and some combat pants. She held a plain sword in her hand.
Beads of sweat formed on her face as she stood there with full concentration, as if waiting for something.
"What is she waiting for?" Silva asked.
"Watch," Andrew said.
Suddenly, square holes opened all over the wall, revealing large laser blasters. They all started firing at the same time. Each laser blast looked terrifying.
She didn’t move when they were shot, but at the moment of impact with the first one, she moved. Her sword traveled in a beautiful arc; she blocked the laser.
Her eyes already moved around, scanning the position of each one in less than a second. She knew exactly where to move next, and she moved, pivoting on one foot and swinging her leg back.
She slashed down, her sword blocking three laser beams in one swing. Her motion didn’t stop there; she flipped, dodging the beams while still cutting them down.
Landing on her feet and dashing for the wall, the lasers readjusted themselves and began firing in rapid succession, but she was far faster than that.
She dodged all and then came to a stop when she reached a corner. But she didn’t look cornered, as if she wanted to be there.
The laser beams came in hot. She took a stance and then started blocking. Her hands moved so fast they became a blur, but no attack could get through.
"This is her physical ability. She has yet to use her awakened abilities," Andrew stated.
"That’s crazy, to be this strong without even using an ability," Silva said.
"Indeed. She is a once in a lifetime talent. She should already be a world-class awakened, one of the top ten, but she refuses to take the spot of any of them," Andrew said.
"Hmmm, how does that happen?" Silva asked.
"She has to defeat one of the top ten. If she does that, she’ll take their spot. I believe she is ready to enter the top ten, she has been for a few years now.
But for some reason, she refuses to fight any of them. Her attention is strictly on the gates and anything gate-related," Andrew said.
"I see," Silva muttered.
"I don’t know why she has interest in you, but Lady Elena is a beacon of hope. Many people can sleep at night because of the sacrifices she makes.
When she fights the monsters of the gate, she doesn’t do it for power or fame. She does it because she knows that if she doesn’t, many will die.
So this is me asking you, do not play with the trust that she has placed in you. If she sees something in you, then it has to be something good," Andrew said.
Silva placed his hands behind his head. "My goals are to protect my sister, get stronger, kill monsters, and raid more gates. And because of that, my actions align with hers. You don’t have to worry about anything else," Silva said.
"Cocky brat," Andrew muttered.
But this time, Elena had finished training. She walked out of the room.
"Hey, Silva," she greeted, sweat still on her face.
"Hello," he replied with a calm smile. "That was quite the training," he added.
"It trains my reaction. Higher monsters can have very unnatural attacks that come fast," she said. "So what did you come here for?" she asked.
He pulled out the gate core without hesitation. Andrew and Elena were shocked; they looked at it with wide eyes as if they had just seen a ghost.
"Is that a gate core?" Andrew asked.
"Yeah, the Lizardman gate," Silva said.
"You destroyed a C gate? A C gate that I gave you a day pass for?" Elena asked.
"Yeah, pretty much," Silva said.
"Uhmm, there are a lot of questions in my mind as to how you even found the core and how you defeated the gate boss, which should be at least at the strength of a low-ranked A ranked monster.
And that’s being generous, it could have the strength of a standard A ranked monster," she said.
"Hmmm, I guess I got lucky," Silva said.
"No, there is no luck. You’ll tell me exactly what happened. Meet me in my office," she said.
