My Primordial Demon System
Chapter 65: Ambush
CHAPTER 65: AMBUSH
Silva, Elena, Lily, and Andrew all got into one room. They sat down around a table, Silva leaned against a wall, his hands crossed.
"So you mean the cult was the one that triggered that S-ranked gate?" Elena asked to be sure.
"Yes, the gate was their attempt to bring a demon into this world," Silva said.
"What exactly is a demon?" Lily asked. She propped her legs onto the table and leaned back in the chair. "Is it some sort of new monster that we should be worried about?"
"I think I know what it is, or I think I do," Raze said.
"Huh? What is it?" Elena asked.
"When we were locked in that gate, the being was called Nubris," Silva said.
"I already know that from the Awakened Guild," Elena said.
"I know. What I’m trying to say is that Nubris might be a demon—no, I’m certain he is a demon," Silva said.
The room fell quiet for a bit.
"They did say it was to call forth demons, so if that gate is the house of a demon, it makes sense for the strongest being to be a demon," Andrew said.
"I have a question." Lily spoke. She looked at Silva. "You met this demon and even suffered at its hand. What would you say its strength is compared to us?" she asked.
Silva’s expression went grim. He recalled the horror of that day. Even now it haunted him deeply. It was levels of fear that he didn’t even understand.
He looked up. "I believe someone like Lady Elena is extremely strong, but she can’t do what Nubris did. She can’t force men to their knees with only a thought. She can’t destroy heads without moving a single muscle.
Nubris did all of that, and it seemed too easy for him, like it didn’t stress him at all. It was all a game to that demon," Silva explained.
"I see, so we are basically screwed if demons suddenly begin to come to Earth," Andrew said.
"We survived the monsters when they came, we can surely survive demons," Lily said.
"You aren’t wrong, Lily, but let’s not forget what happened when monsters first came to Earth. It was more than seventy percent of the population annihilated.
If demons should come the same way, they won’t be alone. They’ll have the monsters with them as well. When that’s added, we might lose ninety percent of humanity before we are able to stop them and get our grounding. Humanity might not be able to recover from that," Elena explained.
"The situation could have been handled slower to nullify the cult, but now that they managed to create the first gate for the demons, they’ll keep trying even more.
Not only will that make more demon gates, it will also create more normal gates like we are seeing, both of which are not good at all," Andrew analyzed the issue.
"So what do we do?" Silva asked.
"We’ll start moving faster. As it stands, we can’t trust everyone, even amongst our guilds, and the one we can’t trust the most is the Red Lion Guild.
They act too covertly, and I am suspicious of their activities. For now, all these are speculation. The only thing we can do, like I said, is move faster and take down more gates if the number of spawning gates increases," Elena said.
She looked at Silva. "I don’t know what method you used to get the information out of that man, but I thank you deeply. But I also want to make sure of something.
Are you standing for humanity, or are you against us?" She asked that question and wanted a genuine answer.
Silva took a deep breath. "I’m for whatever side my sister decides to be on, and as far as I know, she chooses humanity. So I’ll protect it for her sake at all costs."
Elena didn’t fully like the answer that he gave. She believed he should want to protect humanity because he wanted to. But she understood that she couldn’t press her beliefs and wants on someone, so she allowed it. It was enough.
After their talk, they left the prison and got back into the car. It was already late out, but they still traveled back.
Halfway there, near the edge of the desert, a little light shined in the distance. Andrew spotted the light and turned the steering wheel hard, swerving the car to the side.
BOOM.
Something slammed into the tire and an explosion happened, throwing the car high into the sky and spinning while being ablaze.
It was as if everything moved in slow motion. Elena slammed her fist into the door of the car and removed it. She jumped out while it was spinning.
Andrew did the same as well. Lily leaped out through the window like a cat, leaving only Silva in the car. Silva reacted fast and used a claw strike, cutting the car clean in half.
He landed on the ground and the car exploded. He looked around and could see figures in the far distance.
He walked up to the group. "Seems someone isn’t happy to see us," he said.
"An ambush late at night targeting the car. It doesn’t make sense. If they knew who was in the car, why would they think blowing the car would kill us?" Andrew said.
"Maybe they don’t know?" Lily said.
"No, I can sense at least twenty people already within range. You don’t send that amount of people to ambush a car you don’t know," Silva said.
"Regardless of what it is, we’ll find out after we deal with them. Get ready," Elena said. She took out her sword. Andrew brought out his sword as well, and Lily took out a black chain.
’I get to fight alongside the top awakened of the zone. Nice, i can see their power level now,’ Silva thought before equipping his gauntlets.
His senses locked on the figures in the distance, and then suddenly, another light appeared in the sky.
