My Primordial Demon System
Chapter 9: No debt in family
CHAPTER 9: NO DEBT IN FAMILY
"What the hell was that?" Silva asked after the pain subsided.
[User attempted to say a word tied to divine beings]
"What the hell? Are you saying I can’t mention God... Arghhhhhh!" Silva cried in even more pain.
[Divine word detected, proper punishment administered]
The system said the same thing. Silva grabbed his head in pain.
"I can’t believe this, shit." He cursed. "Why the hell would there be such a restriction? Have I somehow sold my soul to Satan and I can’t call any divine name anymore?" Silva asked.
[User has not sold his soul. This is a disciplinary setting to ensure that User does not have anything to do with divine entities.
Also, system doesn’t understand who user refers to as Satan.]
"Huh? You don’t know who Satan is? Isn’t he like the king of all demons?" Silva asked.
[I have no such information in my database.]
The system spoke, and Silva could swear that for the last part of the statement, he felt some heaviness in the voice.
"I guess it doesn’t matter anyway," Silva said.
He still couldn’t believe the fact that he was now a demon, but there was no denying the reality that he was faced with.
Knock knock.
"Huh? Another person?"
He looked at the door. Before he could respond, it swung open. It was his sister, and behind her was Peter.
When she saw him awake on his bed, she froze for a few seconds. Then Peter tapped her on her shoulder, and in a calm voice he spoke, "Go in, you wanted to see him."
Those words acted like a trigger. She ran in and jumped into Silva’s arms. Tears already streaming down her face, there was no need for words.
He ran his hands through her hair as her tears stained his medical gown. She sobbed hard and held him tighter, as if he would vanish if she let go.
Peter walked in after her. He closed the door and stood halfway between the door and the bed. He looked Silva in the eyes.
There was a silence between them, no words said for a few seconds. Silva smiled after a bit, "I know you have a lot you want to say to me, but I would do what I did a hundred times over and I would have no regret," Silva said.
Peter’s eyes widened. He looked at Silva, his heart aching. He had seen the state that Silva was in after the dungeon. He could only imagine the pain that Silva went through, yet despite all that, Silva was willing to take that pain again for his friend.
"Why? Why did you do it?" Peter asked. He clenched his fist tight.
"Peter, I have only two people in this world, my sister, and you. I don’t want a world where one of you doesn’t exist. I couldn’t live without my sister, and you, bro.
So given the same opportunity, I would do the same in a heartbeat," Silva said with a smile.
"Stop talking about doing it again after you barely survived this time," Ella said. She slammed her fist on his chest in a weak manner, her eyes red and glassy.
"He won’t do it again, Ella. I’ll never allow him, you have my word," Peter said. Then he looked at Silva. "I owe you my life," Peter said.
"There is no debt between family," Silva replied.
"Sigh, so when are you getting discharged? The doctor said all your wounds are pretty much healed," Peter said.
"I don’t know yet. She said I still had to run some tests, and till then I’ll be here. But I’ll try my best to get out of here quick."
"No need to rush, bro. After all, the guild is covering for this," Peter said.
"I still don’t want to be in a hospital. I’d rather be out," Silva replied. He turned to his sister. "And how has school been?" he asked.
"I haven’t gone in two days, couldn’t take my mind off," she responded.
"You missed two whole days of school? That’s not good, Ella," he said.
"And whose fault was it? Yours, going to almost die and make me worry," she said. "You’re the last family I have. I couldn’t bear the thought that I would have a life without you," she said, tears welling up again.
"It’s fine, sis. I didn’t die, and I’ll be here for you," he said, and she nodded slowly.
After that, they spent a while talking, laughing, being happy that through all that shit they didn’t lose anyone.
Soon it was late, and Silva forced Ella to go because she needed to go to school. As soon as they were gone, Silva opened the system screen again.
"System, I want that Demon heart or whatever cultivation method you told me of," Silva said.
He wanted to keep himself busy. The system immediately transferred all the knowledge into his mind. In only a second, he knew exactly what to do and the process exactly.
So he closed his eyes and allowed his body to relax to the point he almost fell asleep. Then as the technique said, he took a sharp and very deep breath.
The moment he did it, he felt it, the strange new energy that he had never known before. It was purer and more destructive than mana that he knew. It was demonic energy.
