My Servant System
Chapter 1443 - 1442: Antics Already
CHAPTER 1443: CHAPTER 1442: ANTICS ALREADY
Getting the tents set up took no time at all even with our conversations putting some of the physical activity on hold; we only really had to set up the one giant one that we were going to inhabit before arranging a communal fire pit that would act as our kitchen for a little while as well.
Though the longer we went on with this the more I had to question whether or not this was even needed since Anput could just... conjure up a nice, sturdy and cozy mud hut in mere moments, creating a rudimentary dwelling that was far more solid and took less effort than what we had done.
And immediately afterwards I just shook that aside because unless I needed to why should I live in a mud hut when I can just treat this as a bit of camping in a calm, peaceful place like this previously war torn and now vastly empty Kingdom?
It was just far more palatable to think of this as camping rather than shacking up in a dirt box because it was easier; besides, I wasn’t imagining a long period of time in this tent again since magic existed, though that immediately put me into a bit of a conundrum as I set up the interior while Leone worked on the exterior, double checking everything for me.
Was... did we need to do things like have insulation and piping built in or was magic going to be the answer to anything and everything that we wanted to do?
If we needed to do those did we even have the knowledge of what the hell needed to be done to get that all to work?
Because I could throw together a rudimentary pipe system that maybe kind of would work so long as we used some precious Mana Crystals to power a magical generator to pump things around - I think I could make a system like that if need be - while insulation could be... I don’t know, maybe we go ’primitive’ and use dried grass and mud packed between two layers of walls to keep the heat in..?
Then there was the question of how necessary ’anchoring’ or whatever it was called would be, where we would push some metal rebar into the earth and stabilize the structure... or something...
I was coming to the immediate realization that I only really knew how to build a house in the same way a kid playing a game thinks a house is built; throw up some wooden planks or stone and create a nifty box before slapping a roof on top and call it a day.
Surely that was how it worked, right..?
When I finally drew up the courage to walk outside and look for the Demoness that should know these things for one reason or another - if she wanted to be so proud about how much knowledge she had and how smart she was she was going to prove it to me here and now - I was greeted with a... sight.
Definitely a sight.
Standing atop a rather precarious spire of packed earth was my mate, and by spire I mean a towering pillar of earth that was easily like forty or fifty feet in the air, looking around like some comedic interpretation of a pirate at sea as she swayed around surveying the land around us.
Occasionally she shouted something down to Adelina and Jahi as they jotted something down in a notebook, huddled together and discussing whatever it was with one another; they were so drawn into whatever it was they had Anput doing that neither really noticed I was beside them before it was to ’late’.
Making sure I didn’t distract my idiot of a mate up above, I kept my posture and expression relaxed even as I hissed "What in the blazing hells is she doing up there, hm? Can either of you catch her if she slips?"
Both jolted a little at that, blinking away some ’fear’ before turning towards me slowly with wry smiles as they tried to come up with an answer... only to realize they didn’t have one, so I pressed on before they could think of something stupid.
"I can expect this from this dolt here but from you, Adelina? If she falls and breaks her neck I swear to everything that is holy I will drag your spine out through your mouth, are we clear?"
The Lioness blinked a few times before nodding, that wry smile still on her lips like she was daring me to make good on my promise early; when Anput leaned over the edge and shouted "Oh hey Kat~! It’s beautiful~ up here~! You should come join me~!" I felt like I was going to have an aneurysm.
Who just... leans over when standing atop a gigantic pillar that was high enough to pretty much guarantee death if you slipped..?
Taking in a deep breath and just nodding slowly, I looked between the two idiots in front of me before looking up at the idiot I had decided to take a permanent bond with so that I could shout "Perhaps later! Why don’t you come back down and take a break? Leone’s brewing tea!"
Anput grinned at me and began to crouch so that she could press her hands against the earth, causing me to cringe a little as I waited for her to topple over and come hurtling down to the ground, but thankfully she just began to push the pillar into the earth so that she could join us.
When she was about ten feet above she must’ve been going to fast or she got lightheaded, but whatever it was it caused her to sway before letting out a surprised "Oh." as she slipped off of the pillar...
Watching her fall right into the waiting arms of the Demoness should have been something from a storybook but all I could see was stupidity made manifest... and it made my heart want to crawl out of my mouth so that I could die before seeing her get terribly hurt.
Of course she just immediately laughed and wrapped her arms around Jahi, but the instant they were together I had the opportunity to reprimand them immediately and at the same time, so... before they could really react I just blasted them with a heavy gust of cold air, drawing surprised shouts from them at this sudden ’attack’.
Spinning on my heel and marching back over to the camp before they could defrost completely hopefully proved my point, and it allowed me to tell Leone to brew some damn tea so that I might calm down and not want to murder the two idiots I had fallen so in love with.
