My Servant System
Chapter 1451 - 1450: Building A House
CHAPTER 1451: CHAPTER 1450: BUILDING A HOUSE
I continued to puzzle over the specifics of what would need to be done for the rest of the day, taking my time to perfect the various spells I would try and making sure that any Ritual Circles I created that used a Mana Crystal would be as perfect as possible.
They needed to last a long time and provide an immense amount of benefits over that long period of time, so this was something that - even with the chat with Mother Ria - I needed to prepare to the best of my abilities.
On top of that I was not under the impression that whatever I came up with first would be worth the material investment, so I was going to sleep on the current designs I had and look at them with fresh eyes tomorrow.
That initial design phase took me until the evening, and I had a few different ones to go over tomorrow which I would also have Leone help me with just to make sure they were done correctly and to ensure I hadn’t missed something ’obvious’.
Since I had exhausted a good amount of my mental capabilities for the day I spent the remaining hours just watching Anput at work, playing with the children and then preparing dinner for everyone, finding some solace in knowing that soon I could have my own personalized kitchen to do this in.
Dinner itself was simple yet fulfilling since it was another round of various meats floating around a thick, hearty stew that would stick to everyone’s ribs all night long; we all definitely needed the meal to be as filling as possible considering there were no food stalls around waiting to sell us midnight snacks...
While we had a surplus of food now I wanted to ensure that it remained as a surplus for as long as possible, so until we began to get those merchants coming through that Belian promised I wasn’t going to splurge on the meals.
Besides, I knew that we had other, more ’important’ sources of fulfillment waiting for us in our tent, with my mate being the first to stake her claim for the night as we began the forever same routine that left us all feeling utterly blessed.
Long nights that I always wanted to last forever left us all completely rejuvenated for the following day, and that was a really good thing since somehow, some way, Anput managed to go ahead and finish up the foundation for everything that needed to be done before the sun even reached its zenith.
A set of two different plateaus loomed over us somewhat, with one being wider yet shorter and the other being almost double that height; all this land was ready ahead of schedule thanks to Leone giving Anput the okay she needed to just consume a few different potions to speed things up.
Solid rock made up a majority of the ground we stood on, though there was a healthy layer of soil resting atop that was ready for any sort of gardening that we were going to do, and knowing how sporadic Leone’s desires could be and knowing how much we all loved tea, I was feeling rather confident in saying that this soil would get a lot of use.
A tea field would be hard to maintain but well worth it, and any additional herbs for cooking would do well too, so I was finding yet another thing for myself to do and knowing damn well that my days were going to be rather structured now.
But that was what I wanted from all of this, and although I knew that both Anput and Jahi would end up yearning for some sort of physical labor to lose themselves to I was definitely looking forwards to the peace and quiet.
All sorts of things that I could do every single day that didn’t involve risking myself... though I would be lying if I said that I wouldn’t want to head off to a Dungeon every once in a while to get my ’fix’ of bloodletting.
That is also assuming that no one ends up coming here with bad intentions and is in need of some ’rehabilitation’ to acclimate to this city properly; any sort of physical harm I might inflict on someone could be healed away with some paltry magic at this point, so there was that too...
Anyways, now that the land itself was ready we were now capable of building the shell of the house, though that was where we began to slow down since we needed to get the layout down first and understand that changing this would be harder and potentially wasteful of materials.
The house was going to be quite large, and this was also where we began to lay down who was getting what piece and how that would allow us to have our own spaces away from everyone else; Leone needed a spot close to one of the areas for gardening, Jahi didn’t care at all and Anput admitted it would be easiest for her to have a separate building for her forging, though she would appreciate some sort of trophy hall or something.
Things that I would have never once believed necessary for a home were now being laid out as we marked the wooden floorboards with magic, allowing ourselves to see the layout better and actually walk through it before we went with it.
A trophy hall, an alchemy lab, an armory... things that took up quite a lot of space were being laid down on this first floor, but the largest of them all that Jahi insisted we needed was a ballroom that could be used as an audience chamber of some kind, which was just... honestly, the idea was something I could understand but in practice it was just so odd to see.
The promise of various dances and romantic nights spent in that ballroom was Jahi’s way of persuading us that this was needed and that we should go ahead and dedicate a large amount of floorspace for this endeavor... so of course it worked.
