CHAPTER 1452: CHAPTER 1451: CONSTRUCTION

I was even more impressed by how we managed to solidify the layout and begin constructing the house before the sun fell, starting with another layer of stone blocks that further secured everything together before we moved on to the wood.

This was where everything began to get a little tricky, and it was where we decided to call it for the night; the layout was etched into the floorboards, the two foot tall wall of stone was constructed around the edge of the house, and we had a good idea of how to go about this tomorrow.

So I prepared another meal for everyone, had some fun chatting with them and showing the children around the newly raised lands, even popped the idea of hosting Mom and them in a month or two after everything was ready for a nice formal dinner in the ballroom.

An excuse for everyone to dress up and dance in a venue that wasn’t actually serious, to let loose and drink while we just enjoyed ourselves... it was a good idea, one that Mother Ria accepted immediately as she told me she had many dresses she was in dire need of wearing soon.

Mom took a moment to convince but the sudden reminder that she could put Mother in a dress got her on board immediately, which of course had the effect of making Mother a little ’uncomfortable’ as she was rather obviously declared as a doll for Mom’s desires, though apparently the apple didn’t fall far from the tree...

She seemed to only feel uncomfortable with that since she was being made into that doll in front of us, something that made her blush and glare at Mom before reluctantly accepting it when she realized none of us seemed to care that much.

We just wanted them here, and that was all that really mattered; besides, I was in the same boat since Jahi was trying to devour me with her eyes as she imagined me in a fancy dress, but unlike my Mother I was accustomed to my Demoness being so open about her needs.

After dinner ended and we had enjoyed enough time beneath the stars as a family we all retreated to our tents and began another gathering beneath the stars as we began to make love outside, enjoying the cool air against our heated skin as we relished the intimacy.

Long hours deep into the night helped us sleep and feel rejuvenated for morning when it came around, which was definitely the plan and not just a lucky byproduct of how we lived our lives.

Breakfast was quick and simple so that we could save time for the rest of the day, those precious seconds getting put to use immediately as we got to work on the house and started turning it into everything that we wanted.

We were definitely out of our depths but we were NOT completely useless with this, something that surprised me a little since I never really pegged Mom or Nirinia as people accustomed to constructing actual houses.

And yet both of them were very capable of doing so, with the Djinn-Orc showing us how to properly set the support beams for both the walls and the ceiling while the older Demoness just efficiently began to fill in the walls wherever it was needed.

Magic took care of the things that had me worried, which was primarily insulation and stability, and because magic was needed that was where I ended up contributing to everything as I joined Mother Ria and Leone in enchanting the entire house.

Using my Water Mana to turn all the planks water resistant and then using my Wind Mana to create a thin barrier that was powered by the small amount of mana constantly being created by the wood was my job.

The purpose was to keep everything from being damaged long term by the rains and also to keep most of the winds and particles of debris from reaching the inside of the home, which was needed but definitely boring to do.

Meanwhile Mother Ria and Leone were layering some heat retention Ritual Circles all over the place while also laying down some heat resistance Ritual Circles too, turning the entire area into a giant bundle of magic.

All of which was hidden beneath another layer of wooden planks to ensure nothing ever happened to the Ritual Circles, which would explain how I had been so blind to it back at the March...

It was fascinating since all of these enchantments replaced all of the things from my world that made constructing a house difficult; the insulation, heating and plumbing were always what seemed to be the real challenges, but here it was just... magic.

Plumbing was a very fun one since our water sources would be Water Mana Crystals while the disposal pipes just sunk into the earth and were layered with very hot Fire Magic to incinerate any waste... because... magic.

It was so cool to see and had me wondering what other things I could do easier here than in my previous world that I would have never thought of, only to then remember there was a reason I never thought of them...

Building a house took a lot of time and left me feeling exhausted - if only because I was enchanting seemingly every plank of wood used - yet at the same time I was so fulfilled by it as I watched something come from nothing.

The first floor walls were up and the interior was almost finished by the time the sun reached the horizon, so after some discussion we just focused on the kitchen and began to move the camp inside as we occupied the rooms instead, beginning the slow shift from camping to proper living.

Mom and them still camped outside because that was what they wanted, but they did join us inside for dinner as I began to make use of the rudimentary kitchen we had made, where I cooked our meal in our new house with a little more gusto than I had the nights prior.
