CHAPTER 1454: CHAPTER 1453: MAKING A HOME (1)

"This really is going to take a long, long time... We don’t have half of the things I want, let alone the things we need."

My complaints were just met with an understanding nod from Mother Ria as she looked over the ballroom with interest, taking in what we had done already and envisioning everything that we had wanted to do.

"At least you can circumvent the issue with furnishings to a degree. Upholstery isn’t terribly difficult technically speaking but it can be challenging to get done the way you want, while the woodworking itself is usually the biggest challenge.

For you that shouldn’t be an issue whatsoever, it just becomes a matter of time and how easily you can get Anput to stay away from attempting to fill every inch of this house with weaponry or armor of some kind..."

That made me snort as I nodded in agreement, the upcoming ’negotiations’ I was going to have to perform with my mate already wearing at me a little since I knew exactly what her price was going to be...

Not that I minded paying said price, but the issue just came from how this was all going to go down and the effort it was going to require; still not a lot but it was the principle of it that was making me roll my eyes.

"Well, it won’t be that bad. One room at a time should keep everyone happy, and the decorations that I am going to want from her should give her reason enough to be helpful to me. For everything else though... I do wonder if we should just wait for the merchants to arrive first, or if we should just do what we can with what we have."

"Both, ideally. Some of the things you want you simply cannot make easily, and others are easily made. Focus on one room at a time and slowly knock each of them out from order of importance. Which rooms do you think are most important?"

The immediate answer of "Kitchen." made Mother Ria chuckle as she nodded in agreement, and the followup was the other one that we both understood well enough, which was "Then the bedroom, though that’ll be upstairs..."

"That doesn’t matter. It is going to be the most utilized room in the house, so it needs to be done immediately. All of your attention should be there for tomorrow or whenever it’s constructed. It is a necessity, not a want."

With that she walked with me back towards the kitchen and helped me as I began to get everything unpacked and set up, the various plates, silverware, herbs and more getting put out so that we could begin working on the shelves.

Anput came to help with the woodworking side of everything as I told her what I wanted and where it needed to go, while Mother Ria helped me set up the cooking surface that spanned one entire counter, enchanting the smooth marble for me and allowing me to convert it into a giant grill.

On my end I spent some time rigging up the sink and the disposal area, which was a compact box laden with two separate Ritual Circles; the first was a myriad of wind blades that bounced around and diced everything into smaller pieces while the second was a potent fire Ritual Circle that incinerated what was left.

Emptying the compartment of ash was easy enough and I could just cleanse it with water whenever I needed to, giving me the freedom to cook however I pleased and not worry about all sorts of trash and the like.

Honestly everything I was able to do thanks to magic was incredible, ranging from the custom disposal, cooking countertop and then all of the shelving and storage I had set up everywhere; on top of that I was even able to turn one of the two pantries into a refrigerated unit that Anput reinforced with her Metal Magic.

Really it was a freezer first and foremost but I could regulate the temperature at my leisure with my own mana, so preserving large carcasses or massive amounts of meat was easy for me to do now without risking the potential chance of anything spoiling in my storage bracelet.

The kitchen came together slowly but surely, with Anput needing to come in and out as she drifted around helping everyone, so Mother Ria and I did most of the work ourselves and had things up and running before the sun fell.

Beautiful marble countertops that sparkled beneath the light made me so damn happy, and seeing that the entire kitchen was open concept with a large island in the middle of the room that could act as either another countertop for storage or as a table to eat just turned that happiness into giddiness.

It was just one of those things that made me realize how rich we were since this was something I had always dreamed of having, and now I really had it; it was all mine too, a space that was entirely my own and customized to my specifications.

Overlooking the dining hall so that I could continue to cook or bake while everyone ate while also being set off to the corner of the building meant I was surrounded by everyone but also ’isolated’ enough for my liking.

I could be here and not see anyone for a long time or I could be around them constantly if they decided to lounge just nearby, so it was perfect for me in more ways than just one; I even got to put it to the test immediately since dinner was rolling around, and I got to see just how well everything worked before Mother Ria went anywhere so that I could ensure she was here if anything needed fixing.

Everyone began to filter on in as the smell of grilling meat filled the air, soon joined by the wonderful scent from me baking some bread to go along with it, this first proper night in the house beginning to christen it as our home.
