CHAPTER 1474: CHAPTER 1473: DUNGEON FOUND

"Do you think we could use Leone’s alchemical skills to nurture our own animals and breed them into a top of the line thing of beauty that yields an absurd amount of meat? Would that be humane and most importantly, possible?"

Now that I had practically fully disassembled the bull monster that she had killed, Jahi’s mind was completely enraptured by the ribs that she had seen me remove from the entire carcass, which had her lost in thought about all things food.

"I don’t think we’ll encounter many who care about whether the selective breeding is humane. Where they would have issue is with the treatment of the animals and the life they live up to the point of being slaughtered for their meat... though again, whether anyone really cares or will care enough to levy any accusations against us is another thing entirely."

The Demoness nodded thoughtfully before saying "And I would promptly ignore them because everyone knows stressed animals produce subpar meat. I don’t want subpar meat, I want high quality, juicy, tender meat that dissolves in my mouth. So again... is it possible?"

I chuckled wryly and shrugged my shoulders as I replied "That would be something to ask Leone herself because the potions needed would have to be fine tuned to every single animal. Monitoring them closely and checking for any negative signs before studying the offspring even closer to make sure we aren’t making a monster... What you want her to do is extremely complicated."

"But very much worth it... so I will definitely ask her upon our return, because coming out here and finding maybe two or three of these bull monsters is disappointing..."

That made me shake my head as I took in just how much meat was acquired from the two monsters she had killed so far, and even with such ravenous wives I still believed I had enough here to last us a week.

"One day of hunting equaling a weeks worth of meat is definitely not disappointing, especially to a majority of the world."

"Well, we aren’t amongst the majority of the world now are we Kat? So I want multiple racks of ribs hanging in our frosted pantry, not just three or four. Also, this is a very good way to make money since we can turn these pelts into so many different things, and if Leone figures out a way to use the organs for her alchemy..."

There was no argument to be made there because she was right, so I just finished up and cleansed myself of the blood before guiding us once more, sending us across the plains for another hour before we finally came across what we were looking for.

After having roughly mapped out exactly where we had gone, I now had a far more exact positioning on our own map, and on top of that I was more confident in the time it would take to get here since I had been keeping track of that too.

It was a good bit away from our new home, but if we rushed here and back it would be a single day of traveling, meaning we would need to be here long enough to warrant being away from everyone for more than just a day.

What I was looking at was definitely something that would warrant a multi day excursion away from home, and Jahi was definitely agreeing with me considering how hard she was grinning; the plains slowly rolled upwards into a gentle slope before plunging back down into the earth to form a gigantic bowl.

Well over a mile across, the bowl was it’s own ecosystem in the ground, with a river flowing into a lake surrounded by dozens of fruit bearing trees; it was a paradise, if you were able to ignore the gigantic herds of various animalistic monsters that stomped around.

Some boulders jutted out of the ground, likely rich with all sorts of materials, while those trees and shrubs bore fruits and berries that could definitely be useful for all sorts of things; there were even small clusters of wild grain that sprouted here and there, though they were hotspots of activity.

"This is quite the place... almost makes the denomination ’Dungeon’ feel wrong since this is anything but a dreary, cold place devoid of any hope. It’s just... a wildlife sanctuary really."

"There are dozens of monster variants just in the area in front of us, and quite a few of them are looking just a little too appetizing... and also profitable, of course."

I couldn’t deny that seeing something like this so close to our home - in the grand scheme of things, I mean - made me quite happy, because the various bovines, avians and reptiles that were made into large monsters meant that we now had a large supply of different meats available to us.

Not only meat, but also a lot of bones, organs, pelts, scales and feathers, with a whole lot of other things waiting to be found as well; this was a paradise for us, but at the same time the risk was extremely obvious here.

Where other Dungeons hid their occupants from sight and attempted to catch any adventurers off guard with well timed packs, this Dungeon just showed off its population smugly, making it abundantly clear that you were severely outnumbered.

If you just drew the aggression of one monster you had an extremely high, if not guaranteed chance of alerting a dozen others immediately, and if you were extremely lucky they might not alert any others.

That was practically impossible though, so the chain reaction of monsters alerting one another meant an unending horde of monsters charging at you incessantly, and that was horrifying.

Even if they weren’t the strongest in the world, enough of any enemy would eventually overwhelm you, so this place... it was a problem, yet with high risk came high reward; all we needed to do was find a way to alleviate as much of that risk as possible, which was quite the tall order...
