CHAPTER 1482: CHAPTER 1481: MESSAGE RECEIVED

It was on the third week of us being here that we received a letter from the Demon Clans informing us of what was going to happen in the next week, specifically letting us know about the number of people coming, the merchant caravans and what sort of resources we were going to be given ’for free’.

I wasn’t going to take them at their face value since nothing was ever free in any world, let alone when a Demon is the one handing it over to you, but I could at least be certain that there would not only be resources coming but also resources we needed, and resources that were of a high quality.

Additionally there was parts of the letter that informed us of some of the expectations and hopes for the new city we were forming, ranging from the taxes we were meant to pay as well as the expected tribute to the Demon Clans to the network we were meant to become apart of going forwards.

Being one of many stops between the Capital and the fringes of our Empire, a place for the merchants and soldiers to stop and gather themselves before pushing onwards yet again; we had many duties that weren’t all penned down in this single letter, but it was a reminder of what was to be of our future.

The responsibilities were heavy and the expectations high, yet it only seemed to fuel Jahi more than ever as she redoubled her efforts to get everything ready for their arrival, pushing herself to a point that made me concerned for her...

Only for the third day of her doing so making me realize just what it meant for her to be a Demoness, since that stubbornness fueled her body in ways nothing else in the world could ever match.

She set a standard for us all during this time, one that we needed to meet lest we disappoint her, and for the three of us that were to be wed to her that wasn’t something we would ever let happen, while Nirinia had her own pride on the line as well.

We pushed ourselves to construct these houses and other buildings, to pave the roads and set up the basic infrastructure, to guarantee that when they arrived we would have a semi functioning settlement that was an obvious seed waiting to sprout into a proper city.

The emptiness of the plains was gradually being altered as we created something in the middle of nothing, making a mark on the land and hopefully creating a mark that would remain for the next millennia of our Empire.

These days that Jahi had us living in were not days that allowed for much else besides waking up, getting ready, working and then unwinding with good food, wine and sex before passing out, just to do it all over again when we woke up.

Even when she had two of us head over to the Dungeon to hunt some more monsters the construction never stopped, or if it did it was because something else was being done that didn’t need to be completed with hammers and nails.

I had cracked a bit of the mystery around the Nature Mana and was beginning to implement some extremely basic yet very impactful enchantments around the first field, while Leone had created an enchanted oil mixture that would burn continuously for quite a long time.

We weren’t certain how long just yet but we were aware that they worked wonderfully in the lanterns hanging all over the place, illuminating the roads and emitting a calming, refreshing scent that was just barely noticeable.

The water situation was handled, the fields were to be determined, each building was secure, stable and ready for habitation... honestly it felt all too smooth, which was of course filling me with some worry since that meant something had to happen soon.

Balance needed to be struck, so something needed to occur to disrupt this harmony that we had found ourselves, which was causing me to not enjoy said harmony as much as I should have been since I was just waiting for... something.

It was just how I was wired apparently since no amount of convincing or distracting from my wives could get that out of my head, meaning that every single day felt like a ticking clock that was slowly approaching the end of the hour.

I couldn’t shake the feeling yet there was nothing to substantiate it besides said feeling, so there was nothing for any of us to do besides just push forwards and be prepared for this ’something’ that might happen...

That third week was quiet and more draining than the others had been entirely because of this, yet at the same time it just made each night all the better as I was able to forget what was happening and instead lose myself to the lust.

Losing myself to my lust or - in the very rare chance that I wasn’t the most aroused and needy one on the bed - to one of their lusts as they pushed me down and forced themselves onto me one after another felt even better than normal because of this.

Not only that but the one time I got to go hunting I relished the scent of blood far more than I had before, to the point that the journey back home was spent not only traveling but also going at it like the wild beasts we had just slaughtered.

The constant switch between highs and lows became addicting in its own sort of way, and I knew for certain that this was going to be a time I would never forget as we slowly chipped away at the days until more and more people came to join us.

Those thoughts helped ground me some as I wondered what sort of flock we were about to receive; would we get some hardy and honest folk or would we be getting a tested and expectant tribe of Beastkin?

Whatever it was I was beginning to look forwards to it to a certain degree, though I will admit that I wasn’t entirely thrilled by the idea since the amount of times I was able to experience bliss directly beneath the stars without a worry in the world was getting too high to count...
