CHAPTER 1488: CHAPTER 1487: FIRST ARRIVALS (2)
"Well well well~! How has it been, dearest cousin~? Long time no see, right~? Miss me much~?"
"Not particularly, no. In fact, I was very much hoping to never have to see you again, but alas it seems Belian has other plans... So let me just make this as clear as crystal, Satanya. You are here as a dignitary, nothing more. We are not friends, we are not hopefuls... we are just acquaintances."
The red skinned Demoness didn’t seem to care at all that the futanari she had been pursuing so hard was turning her down so swiftly and with such finality, and although it was somewhat admirable to see I still very much despised her.
"Heya there Kat~! Anput and Leone as well~! How are you all doing, hm~? Living it up lavish in the city that the Clans gifted to you~?"
Her barbed tongue was still ever present, and in another life where I had been as ’unshackled’ as I had been before coming here I might have found this rather attractive out of her, but now that I was wanting to be loyal to my three wives she was very irritating at best.
At worst I wanted to drag that tongue of hers out of her throat and wrap it around her neck until she was just a cold corpse on the ground, and it was something that the woman seemed to know as she just smirked at me before turning back to Jahi.
"The first group is here and will help settle everything in properly for the next group, which comes in a week. We brought enough foodstuffs to last a month, brought some more clothing, furniture and other materials, and we also have some seeds and the like too."
Standing beside Satanya was the familiar face of Nakith, the Cimeriesa futanari half glaring at the Beliali woman while also offering Jahi a small packet of papers, which the blue Demoness took, scanned over and then handed to me.
Looking over the exact number of everything they were bringing with them this time, I nodded slowly and felt very relieved since this solved a lot of ’problems’ I had been worrying about, namely the food that they were going to eat in the immediate future.
"The second group will also be accompanied by an appropriate amount of supply wagons to help them settle in and replenish the stores. For three months that will be all of the settlers coming here until the third group arrives, and the final shall be in six months. Each with their own supplies and purpose."
Giving Nakith a nod and continuing to study the packet, I eventually handed it to Leone so that I could instead look at the people themselves, taking them in and counting how many seemed to be particularly able bodied.
"We have the correct amount of housing for them currently, but it is shared spaces and a bit tight. We were going to be constructing new buildings soon, however we did want to prioritize getting the farms set up. These are mostly farmers, correct?"
"Farmers indeed~! In total we have 45 farmers here, 5 overseers, 3 healers and 2 ’retired’ Demons who wanted to help. 55 in total for the permanent residencies, and then there are the 5 of us that are to remain until the second group is all settled in, so you’re not going to be free of me for some time~!"
Ignoring Satanya, I looked to Nakith and asked "Are any of you attuned with Nature Magic, or at the very least familiar with it? I have a few tests I need to conduct and I was hoping to have some additional help...", earning a tilted head from the Cimeriesa as she stared at me curiously.
"Tests? Are you attempting to accelerate crop growth? If so, we do have some experience in that and we were planning on eventually integrating those techniques into this city anyways... hearing that you were already experimenting with it is interesting."
The intrigue in her eyes grew, though she curbed her excitement and instead turned back to Satanya as she asked "Shall we begin immediately, or do we focus on getting the settlers in first?", which made the red skinned woman shrug immediately.
"I don’t care, either or. If anything they are all probably exhausted after the journey, and a few of them are definitely already getting cold feet seeing how sparse this place is. Yeah, focus on them first and then worry about everything else."
Waving the futanari away, Satanya turned back to us with a grin as she added "As for you cuties~! We have merchants with us too; some are here simply to see if they want to potentially invest here, some are just curious about the Scion of Asmodia, but most have some goodies they are willing to sell, for the right prices of course~!"
"Take me to them then. We need to get them settled immediately in the Merchant Hall, and I want to start negotiating as soon as possible. Are any of them in the agricultural business? Can I secure shipments of grain through someone besides the Clans?"
The rapid-fire questions made Satanya’s grin widen as she walked Jahi over towards the small gaggle of richly dressed men and women, all of whom were looking around with conflicted gazes; I could see the disdain from here, but most of them were also seeing the potential as well... they just didn’t like what it looked like currently.
As our wife began to walk over to them with Satanya at her side, she turned back briefly to ask me to fetch a bottle of wine while asking Leone to get a few pots of tea ready, leaving Anput to saunter over with the two Demonesses as they began to chat with the merchants.
Knowing that at least one of us was still with her when that sharp tongued bitch was here was reassuring, though it didn’t cause me to take my time getting that bottle as I instead raced back, rejoining them before they could even reach the Merchant Hall.
