CHAPTER 1493: CHAPTER 1492: LET’S GET IT DONE
"Nice to meet you, Lady Asmodia. As you can see I’m a bit of a longhorn and gettin’ grey now, so I apologize in advance, but it I do hope this is the start of something nice."
Shaking my hand and giving me a somewhat wry yet genuine smile, the older Demoness still had a bunch of muscle packed into her red frame that was very noticeable... and I knew she could use it since that massive greatsword on her back was very similar to what Mom and I wielded.
Meanwhile beside her was a tall, lanky yellow skinned Demon with tired golden eyes, his arcane staff radiating power even as he casually leaned on it like it was just some basic stick; both of the older Demons were clearly capable of handling themselves, and they were also clearly together considering how close they were.
It was a bit odd seeing such a built Beliali Demoness - futanari obviously since she wasn’t a raging bitch like the red skinned woman beside me - wanting to be with this tired, lanky Demon, yet at the same time judging everything based on appearances never seemed to work with Demons.
Also... perhaps there was some more going on here than just the ’usual’ and ’expected’ relationship dynamics, which I wasn’t judging whatsoever~!
"It’s nice to meet you as well, Miss..?"
"Oh just Kavya is fine, Lady Asmodia. Kavya Beliali, and this is my husband Bakari Cimeriesa. Both of us worked as adventurers and enforcers for... pretty much a century and a half now. Injuries and some wacky discoveries have aged us a bit..."
"That was sadly way at the beginning of our careers... We encountered some ancient Nature Mana based apparatus that drained some of our life away, so we aged rapidly. ’Tis a shame, but oh well... you live and you learn, no? Hence why we are here now; we learned that we are now ’too old’ for most things, and this seemed useful enough for us."
The man’s voice was soft and low, just above a whisper and like a blade sliding across cloth; it was obviously the voice of someone with power and experience yet it was soft enough to make you reconsider everything...
And then there was the smooth and suave voice of Kavya as she chuckled and added "We are still capable, my Lady, but we might request a nap before the sun reaches its peak~!", drawing a chuckle from me as well as I nodded and replied "That could be arranged."
Both of my new Demon ’enforcers’ or whatever they were meant to be seemed likable enough so far, which was such a relief after having to deal with the walking irritation known as Satanya, who was still standing beside me with a smirk.
"Ah, and we can also help keep things in check, with all of the people here; Lord Belian gave us the order, and as long as you agree we can act as a sort of intermediary for the Clans and the city in terms of maintaining order."
That wiped the smirk off of Satanya’s face, something we all noticed immediately and something that made me grin as I nodded and said to her "That would be more than ideal, Miss Kavya. Now, with that out of the way, how about we meet the workers, hm?", getting a nod back that only made me happier.
All of the farmers, overseers and then the three healers were still gathered around their various carriages, unloading them and organizing their belongings while also just enjoying the fresh air and ability to walk around without being cooped up.
When they noticed our approach they all began to gather around, murmuring to one another as they stared at me and giving me a good look at them all for the first time now; they were all wearing simple clothes and had few ’noticeable’ features besides those that came with their racial traits.
All sorts of Beastkin were gathered in front of me with a very small amount of Orcs and some Djinn, so I was greeted with a collection of tails, horns, wings and more that gave everyone a bit ’more’ than just a ’normal’ appearance.
I even saw a Human standing amongst them, which was surprising considering how ’lowly’ most Beastkin believed them to be, though that only made me a bit curious about that dirty blonde haired woman since it meant she had to be somewhat special...
But I was really here to just see my first group of citizens and figure out what I should do and say to properly greet them and make them feel welcome, while at the same time knowing I needed to inform them that the work started tomorrow and we weren’t going to be slacking off whatsoever...
I framed that pause as me just surveying them and not as me being at a loss for words, but eventually I needed to speak and get things rolling so I started with some standard greetings, somewhat kind words and then a quick reminder of why they were here.
Showing them where they would be working, letting them know that everything was still under development so they would need to work with us to make sure everything went smoothly, trying to convince them that this wasn’t going to go horribly wrong...
I was speaking for a few minutes about practically everything, but eventually I felt Kat getting closer so I wanted to wrap this up under the premise of getting back to work, which I would be... after I sought out ’safety’ between the thighs of my Dogkin wife.
It probably came off as a bit crass to them, though it also seemed to work in my favor since they definitely were a group that preferred action over listening to speeches, so the promise that we were going to be working tomorrow and that today was all about settling in and getting ready for that work tomorrow went over better than I had hoped.
By the time Kat was by my side I immediately moved her between Satanya and I, keeping the fluffy tailed, thick Dogkin woman between us as a buffer and using her to draw everyone’s attention as I added the fun little fact that tonight we would have a bonfire to celebrate the beginning of something special.
Good food, good drink, dancing and merrymaking all beneath the stars... that got me a much better reception than I had been looking for, so I was happy to wave goodbye to all the excited people while I fled from the area to go do something more important.
