CHAPTER 1497: CHAPTER 1496: WELCOME CEREMONY (1)

Kat PoV

"And you’re certain that this is enough room? For all of you?"

I looked around the somewhat cramped living area of the farmers with a bit of skepticism, unsure of how they could stare me in the eye and tell me that this was good enough for them to be comfortable and get rested after a long days work.

Sensing that from me, the somewhat older horned man snickered and nodded a few times, causing a few of the other farmers to all chuckle quietly as well while he said "This is more than enough for us, lass. We come from a place where the bunkin’ was underground; we couldn’ta had more than a foot or so to ourselves, I believe."

"Aye, we were packed into these carved out bunkbeds and told it was good enough. Not from the Clans, mind you, but from the Human territories we came from. Comparatively this is like heaven~! Though I will admit I am very much lookin’ forwards to the time we get some more space..."

This time it was an older woman speaking to me, her long, wiry grey hair pulled into a messy bun up around her own curled horns; the unmistakable eyes of a goat were fixed on me, and as used to non Humans as I was it was still somewhat eery to me that some of the Beastkin had animal eyes.

Especially Goatkin... I never really liked goats to begin with, but their eyes in particular were always creepy to me...

Anyways, she didn’t look like much of a farmer what with her hefty body, but all that really made me think was that she was the one who kept everyone else fed... or she was just impossible strong and it made her look the way she was.

Either way I noticed that she and the man had a certain weight with most of the farmers who were gathered round, so I figured they were the ’leaders’ of a sort for the rest of them... whether or not that was a good thing was yet to be seen.

Besides that I could tell that more than a few of the farmers were clearly a bit too close to one another, and in a more communal style area like this it was going to be hard on them to get the privacy they needed to have some ’relaxation’.

"Well, I can’t guarantee individual housing in the short term, but I can promise some more buildings like these within the week. Maybe two or three more to start, which should help get everyone some more privacy."

"Anything’s fine with us, lass, so long as we aren’t treated terribly or are lied to. You won’t ever have a problem from us, I promise. Though... for tonight, I’ve been asked many times now whether there’ll be drink..?"

Immediately the older woman smacked the arm of the man, causing him to chuckle and shrug his shoulders as he waited for an answer; even with that display the woman was also staring at me expectantly, which put a lot of pressure on my shoulders.

"Everyone will have something to drink, yes. I can’t promise anything more than three cups a person, otherwise we’d be out completely, but up to that... yes, we should have enough."

That got a chorus of cheers from the crowd as they all exchanged grins and high fives, relieving me a little before I was asked further about the food, location and what we were going to be doing.

Telling them that we had a few monsters ready to be smoked and that it was just going to be a dance around a bonfire was far more positive than I had thought as they cheered again, and it was abundantly clear that a few of the farmers were very much looking forwards to it as they eyed some of their peers in particular.

I kept a neutral expression as a few glanced my way, though even though it made my skin crawl slightly I had to admit the attention was nice... but it wasn’t as nice as the things Jahi would do to me later, which I didn’t want to ruin.

So after making sure they were settling in just fine I went to find my Demoness, wanting to further prepare for tonight and also for the future since we had a few things we needed to do straight away, like get some more housing prepared.

When I found her she was discussing a few things with some of the merchants, so I gave her some time and just studied the land we had, imagining what we would need and how long it would take as I waited for her to finish up.

It took her a few minutes, and by that time Satanya had appeared in my vision, leaning against a wall nearby and studying me with a smirk as she just kept her distance, like she was toying with me.

Considering Nakith was beside her with a notebook and a stone table, I imagine the Cimeriesa was trying to get the Beliali woman to focus on something important, but sadly Satanya was very good at being a bitch and doing her job at the same time.

Jahi didn’t seem to care as she just ignored Satanya altogether, approaching me and walking with me as we returned to the house, discussing everything I wanted before she walked me upstairs and had me try on a few dresses for her.

Obviously that was just an excuse for her to get me naked and play dress up for her, but I was more than happy to do so as we further discussed everything, even doing so during the few times that she was hugging me while on her knees since she was quite thirsty...

We talked, had fun and cuddled to our hearts content before finally relenting as we got back to work, though by then I had my outfit for tonight chosen and also knew that Jahi was going to be looking for Anput and Leone to do the same thing to them as she had me, which made me quite happy for them as I found myself at my desk with the Nature Mana ’problem’ in front of me.
