CHAPTER 53: CUTE MOTHER

One thing Leon really hated since he was young was seeing tears in his mother’s eyes, but this lady seemed to have a whole dam of tears. She would always cry whenever he got injured or got bullied for having a mute mother.

That was also the reason he stopped telling her about his injuries. She was too kind and soft-hearted.

And he didn’t expect to see her crying once again the moment he came back. He sighed and thought, ’What is in that frame really? Why do you always cry whenever you look at it? Damn it! Don’t let me find you... whoever’s photo is in it.’

He took a deep breath and once again brought a happy smile to his face. Then, he burst open the door and shouted, "Guess who’s back? Back again?"

Evelyn was startled and almost dropped the photoframe, but her quick reflexes managed to save it just in time. She caught it and heaved a sigh of relief.

Then she raised her head to look at the newcomer, and surprise plus worry was clear in her eyes.

As someone who had learned to understand her silence, Leon could see the worry in her eyes and held himself from rolling his own. This lady really loved to worry about literally everything!

"Leon’s back. Tell your friends!"

Still, he continued singing and hugged Evelyn, who had just stood up, and said, "Why are you crying again?"

Evelyn didn’t answer and simply hugged him back, enjoying his warmth. He was her son, the only reason she was even alive, so one could understand just how much happiness his presence brought her.

She patted his back and pulled away before using hand signs to ask, ’What did you do this time? Why did the Academy suspend you again?’

"What!?" Leon’s jaw almost dropped to the ground. "What do you mean I did something? I am just so amazing that the Academy gave me a full-year vacation."

Evelyn narrowed her eyes at her dramatic son and pulled his ear before mouthing out her words, ’Come clear.’

"Why can’t you just believe that I got a vacation?" Leon refused to back away.

’Of one year?’

"Ahem! Well, maybe not that long, but it is true that I got a vacation." Leon cleared his throat and said, "Now please let go of my ear. It hurts."

Only then did Evelyn release his ear and blow on it, making Leon speechless. Why hurt if you’re gonna worry anyway?

"Pftt!!"

Just then, they heard a chuckle from outside the room and turned to look, only to see Amber standing there with an amused look on her face.

"Ah! I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have interrupted the reunion. I’ll be in the living room. Take your time."

Saying that, Amber left as the little bunny accompanied her.

Left alone, Leon felt a deep glare on him and turned towards Evelyn. "Now, what did I do?"

’Why didn’t you tell me we have guests?’ Evelyn glared at her irresponsible son even more, though she looked more cute than fierce.

"Did you let me say anything?" Leon shot back.

’Instead of being dramatic, you could have come normally and told me everything.’ Evelyn wanted to smack him, but he was taller, so she held back.

"That would ruin my entry. Anyways, you now know there is a guest, so just chill." Leon kissed her forehead and said, "And stop wasting these tears. You’ll need them later."

Evelyn’s beautiful emerald eyes narrowed at him again as she asked, ’What did you do?’

"I’m here completely fine, so you don’t need to worry at all. I’ll explain the rest of it later." Leon quickly changed the subject. "Oh yeah, she is my professor from the Academy, and we were going to work on something, so I invited her here. Is that fine?"

This time she didn’t hold back and lightly knocked on his head. ’You really didn’t get any intelligence from your parents. Why didn’t you say that earlier?’

With that, she pushed him out of the room and told him, ’Go and accompany her. It isn’t good to leave a guest all by themselves. Where are your manners?’

Leon sighed and walked away under her persistence. He came here to spend time with her, and she was instead pushing him out.

’What a cruel mother!’

Evelyn stared at his retreating back before shaking her head with a helpless smile on her face. How could she not understand why Leon was acting so dramatic just now?

This silly kid would come up with all kinds of pranks and dramatic plays to make her laugh if she cried even once. Now that he saw her crying again, he wanted to distract her mind from her sadness.

’What a silly child!’

She picked up the photoframe again, caressed it softly, and smiled. ’Watch over your silly son. He’s really turning out to be a dramatic bi— ahem! I mean, he’s as dramatic as you.’

Then, she put it away in the locker and went towards the kitchen to prepare something for her guests. It didn’t really matter who came, but as a guest, she would show her hospitality to them.

Meanwhile, Leon came to the living room and slumped down on the couches while the little doodle brought him a cup of fresh mango juice.

"Thanks, Bunny. By the way, handle the car parked outside," Leon said.

"Do~ Doo~"

The bunny gave a salute and ran off.

Amber watched everything with a smile on her face and finally said, "I never expected you to be so dramatic."

"My mom is very strong, and she can handle my dramatic self easily," Leon said. "Make yourself comfortable here. I’ll clean the guest room later so you can sleep there."

"It’s still noon," Amber rolled her eyes at him and said. "I came to meet your mother, and then I was gonna stay at my villa."

"Why? Already too used to living alone?" Leon teased her.

Amber couldn’t even counter it because she really had gotten too used to living alone that living with someone else seemed... strange for her.

"I’ll see once I’m finished with my work here," Amber said, throwing the decision for later. She thought of consulting her senior sister for it.

"By work, you mean for the potion?" Leon asked.

"Yes. I’ll need to check some things first before we can begin." Amber nodded.

"Good! Then here is the thing you asked for," Leon pushed a USB drive to her and said. "It contains all the information you’ll need for the Clearwill Potion."

"You think I’m so old-fashioned that I’ll use a USB drive and old laptops?" Amber asked in a dangerous tone.

"Don’t you?"

"That’s beside the point."

"Then just use it."

Amber snorted and took out her laptop out of nowhere. She then plugged in the USB drive before going through all the information, and the more she read, the more shocked she became.

"This is incredible!" Amber whispered under her breath. "How did you even discover all of this?"

Before her lay years of research and detailed analysis on every aspect and ingredient of the potion. And it was written in such a way that even an amateur could understand it.

Just now, did this nineteen-year-old boy achieve this?
