My SSS-Rank Dungeon: Reborn In A Reverse World
Chapter 60: The Handsome Server
CHAPTER 60: THE HANDSOME SERVER
There’s no pillow in the world softer than your mom’s lap... no blanket warmer than her arms. You can be grown, battle-hardened, and too proud to admit it, but the second her hand runs through your hair, all that weight you’ve been carrying just melts away.
Leon wholeheartedly believed in that saying. It was only a few hours of sleep, but it was the best he’d had in a long while. Even the sleep he had in the dungeon couldn’t be compared to this quick nap.
It was so peaceful and comfortable that he didn’t even want to wake up. But he knew it was uncomfortable for his mother, even if she would never say so, so he had to wake up on his own accord.
This woman would rather suffer herself if it meant he could be comfortable. So, he had to take care of her.
In the evening, he woke up in a fresh and good mood. The guilt was still there, but it couldn’t affect him now. As his mother had said, he should just help more people if he still felt guilty and he was going to do exactly that.
It also aligned with his overall goal, after all. He would save them, and in return, they would save the world, making it the peaceful place he wanted to live in with his loved ones.
Such a simple goal.
He went to freshen up in his room and found it as clean as ever, with even his clothes properly arranged. Evelyn always cleaned his and Silver’s rooms, even if they weren’t there.
’When will she have her own life?’ Leon shook his head and entered the bathroom.
After that, he went downstairs and didn’t find his mom anywhere. So, he went to the side of his home where the bakery was attached and found it open, just as he had expected.
Customers were already coming in, exhausted from their work and enjoying the calm evening in their warm, cozy bakery.
The bakery was quite famous in District 10 for its atmosphere and brilliant baker. Everyone was addicted to her cakes, breads, and other delicacies. But the main reason they liked to come here was still the cozy atmosphere.
It made them relax after a tiring day, so the bakery was packed even in the evenings. Still, it wasn’t too crowded, and people could relax and chit-chat with others.
Leon used to help his mother out daily, so he also went there and began helping her. A handsome man serving these working women was always welcome, and their fatigue seemed to vanish instantly.
"Oh my, when did you come back, Leon?" a familiar older lady asked upon seeing Leon delivering her coffee.
"I just got a vacation, Aunt Wang, so I came here," Leon replied with a smile and swiftly served another table with their cake.
Usually, this was done by the little bunny, but today he was doing it because he knew the appeal of a handsome face. Just like in his previous life, how hiring beautiful girls could improve sales and customer satisfaction, the same happened here with a handsome face.
"Leon is back? Boy, come here and let me see your smile properly. It makes us old ladies’ day."
Another voice pulled him to the side, and he also didn’t refuse. Most of them were older ladies who were genuinely happy to see him, so he didn’t mind being the cheerful boy for them.
Of course, there were chances of meeting perverts like this, but Leon knew how to deal with them too. He had quite some experience in that regard.
Just like that, the evening passed with Leon helping out Evelyn in the bakery along with the little bunny. His presence seemed to have made the customers’ day, and they even left tips.
It really wasn’t much, but Leon still appreciated the gesture.
After that, Leon wanted to help Evelyn with making dinner, but she pushed him out of the kitchen. She really wasn’t exhausted even after doing so much work, because she wanted to cook for her son and Amber.
So, Leon had no choice but to rest in the living room while scrolling through things on his tablet. Considering the importance of mental health in this world, it wasn’t surprising that the entertainment industry had grown very big.
Music, dance, movies, novels—everything was a way to bring people out of the terrible reality they lived in. And, as in every other industry, the entertainment industry was also affected by the new world.
Gender roles were reversed here too, and men usually had lots of women followers, with many even forming cults. It was quite a scene that Leon was very familiar with and had even once thought of joining.
This was because his mother had once expressed her desire to see him on a big stage where he could shine brighter than any other star. She also longed for the world to hear his voice, so Leon had decided to enter the entertainment industry.
Sadly, Evelyn also forced him out of there because she knew he was just doing it for her. He didn’t really like singing and all that much.
Just as Leon was reminiscing about his past, a gust of wind made his hair flutter, and he felt a presence beside him. He wasn’t really surprised because he was already expecting her.
He closed the tab and turned to look at her. "Can you help me tonight?"
"Hmm? With what?" Amber asked in curiosity.
"With my secret. It can be painful, and I don’t want to alert my mom with my screams," Leon whispered in a low voice while keeping an eye on the kitchen. "I want you to erect a barrier or something in my room."
Amber was taken aback for a moment since she didn’t expect him to be so open about his secret. She had already guessed that he had a higher pain resistance due to his secret, but even then, he could scream so much that it would alert others?
She wondered just how much pain he had to endure for such fast growth.
"Don’t look at me like that," Leon rolled his eyes. "I’ve been trying to find a way out of it, and I do think I’ve found it. I’ll check my theory today, but I don’t want to take risks."
"That won’t be a problem. And I’ll also make sure that I won’t see or sense you too. But I’ll still keep an eye on your health status to keep you safe." Amber nodded.
"Thanks a lot for your help then," Leon sighed in relief.
He was really worried about this. The dorms had barriers, but his house didn’t, so if he died in the dungeon, the whole neighbourhood would hear his painful screams.
And, worst of all, Evelyn would get to know about his condition and that was the last thing he wanted. He really didn’t want to conceal this from her, but he also knew that it could affect her health.
So he could only keep this a secret like this and endure the pain all by himself. Fortunately, Amber was staying together with them, so he could relax on this matter for now.
"By the way, we can go to the Patent Office tomorrow."
