CHAPTER 61: PATERNAL FAMILY

Leon and Amber talked a bit about the potion, which mostly included the things Leon needed to be careful about as the creator. He really didn’t know much about the political side of the world, so it was good to have Amber explain it all.

By then, Evelyn had also prepared dinner, so they decided to shift their discussion to the next day. Who would want to discuss boring things like politics when they could eat a delicious meal?

Leon helped in serving and then excitedly sat beside the two ladies. Just as he was about to dig in, he sensed Evelyn’s gaze on him and turned towards her.

’You still didn’t tell me how you got the vacation?’ Evelyn asked.

Leon paused, then turned to the food and said, "Let me eat first. I’m hungry."

Evelyn narrowed her eyes at him, which made him sigh as he said, "Alright. We just got into an accident, so the whole class was given a break. That accident was quite traumatic for others, and you know how these moments are for women, so they gave everyone a vacation to recover."

Evelyn sensed that he didn’t want to talk more about it, so she didn’t ask, but she could still tell that this accident wasn’t a minor one.

It was Starlink Academy, and every student admitted there was an elite. Minor accidents couldn’t affect them, so something major must have happened.

She understood it all, and her heart instantly filled with concern. But she also didn’t want to say anything in this matter because it was a path he had chosen for himself.

Ever since he was young, Leon was a sensible kid who would always do what his mother said, and every decision of his revolved around her.

It was the first time he chose something for himself, and she could also see that he was really serious about it. And in this path, accidents were bound to happen.

She was helpless against this fate that both of her children had chosen, but she also knew they were strong. She had always supported them and would continue to do so.

She believed in them and trusted their capabilities.

Evelyn placed her hand over his and mouthed out her words, ’I am here. Remember that.’

Leon grinned wide hearing that and said, "Of course, I know that. How can I ever forget about this poor old lady who has a lake inside her eyes?"

Evelyn chuckled and pinched his hand lightly before turning towards Amber, ’Is it dangerous? I mean, this project you two are doing together.’

After hearing about the accident, her heart was already full of worry, so she couldn’t help but get paranoid with this strange project involving someone like Amber.

Amber didn’t answer immediately but glanced at Leon first to see his reaction. Seeing him shrug nonchalantly, she shook her head and told the rough idea about the Clearwill Potion to Evelyn.

Evelyn’s eyes widened in surprise as she turned to look at her son. Her mouth opened as if she wanted to say something, but nothing came out.

A trace of disappointment flickered in her eyes, but she quickly hid it and weaved a few hand signs, ’You really made such a miraculous potion?’

"Yup! Let us run the official things and then you can boast your son’s achievements to everyone," Leon nodded with a small smile on his face.

Evelyn also smiled and patted his head, ’I am very proud of you. Really, really proud!’

"Hehe! Let the praise come more!" Leon wasn’t humble enough to reject compliments from his mother.

’You worked hard for these compliments, so you deserve all the praise of this world,’ Evelyn was even more willing to praise her amazing son.

She showered him with tons of praises, which made even a shameless person like Leon a little embarrassed, but he didn’t even try to stop her.

After a while, Evelyn stopped and said, ’If your paternal family heard about your achievements, they would also be very proud.’

"Huh? They are into the research side?" Leon asked in surprise since Evelyn rarely talked about his father and his side.

Evelyn nodded and said, ’They are a family dedicated to researching the new changes brought to Earth and also to humans. That’s why an invention like this would surely make them proud. They’re also very famous and value their prodigal children.’

Amber raised her head to look at Evelyn as a certain name flashed in her mind. She could already guess Leon’s paternal family, and that shocked her a lot.

This also made her wonder about Evelyn’s identity. After all, not just anyone could get close to the men of that family. They were quite overprotective of their close ones.

Meanwhile, Leon was thinking of something else. "Doesn’t this sound like a bad thing for me??"

’What do you mean?’ Evelyn asked in confusion.

"Clearwill Potion will surely alert all the big researchers, and if that family is so deeply involved in this field, then they will surely come to know of this," Leon replied.

"Yeah, but what’s the problem in that?" Amber asked, just as curious as Evelyn.

Leon shrugged, "It means that I’ll probably meet that family sooner or later. And I have zero interest in meeting the sperm donor of my existence."

Amber burst into laughter while Evelyn glared at her son and even tried to pinch his belly, but Leon already knew what was coming after his comment, so he jumped and sat on the other side quickly.

’Is that how you talk about your father?’ Evelyn was really furious with him, and even Leon could see that.

He could never understand how this man, who she hadn’t met for over twenty years, could make her emotions so chaotic. He really never understood.

But he wasn’t willing to back down on this matter.

"Nah uh! Do tell me anything he did other than provide sperm for my birth?" Leon scoffed lightly and began devouring the food.

Amber also quieted down since she knew it was rude to laugh about this matter. She just couldn’t control herself before. Still, she could see the tension between them on this matter, so she silently just ate her food rather than involving herself in their family issue.

Evelyn had a complicated look on her face hearing his words. She couldn’t even deny it, since Leon really never had a father figure even though his biological father was alive.

That man never played the role of father in his life, so why should Leon accept him as his father?

It was just as Leon said, that man was nothing more than a sperm donor for his birth, nothing else.

Evelyn sighed and said, ’Things are more complicated than you imagine, Leo. I don’t want you to take him as a father or anything. I won’t force any relationship you don’t want. But I also hope you don’t hate him.’

Leon looked at her expression and rolled his eyes. He really wanted to open her head to find out if that man had done some hypnosis on her. Why did she defend him so much?

"Let me guess, he doesn’t even know that I exist, right?"
